¹Kaj aliris cxiuj militestroj, kaj Johxanan, filo de Kareahx, kaj Jezanja, filo de Hosxaja, kaj la tuta popolo, de la malgrandaj gxis la grandaj,

¹And all the captains of the forces, and Johanan the son of Kareah, and Jezaniah the son of Hoshaiah, and all the people from the least even to the greatest,

²kaj diris al la profeto Jeremia:Ni humile petegas vin, pregxu por ni al la Eternulo, via Dio, por cxi tiu tuta restajxo; cxar el multaj ni restis malmultaj, kiel viaj okuloj nin vidas.

²came near and said unto Jeremiah the prophet, Let, we beseech thee, our supplication come before thee, and pray for us unto Jehovah thy God, for all this remnant (for we are left a few of many, as thine eyes do behold us);

³Kaj la Eternulo, via Dio, sciigu al ni la vojon, kiun ni devas iri, kaj kion ni devas fari.

³that Jehovah thy God may shew us the way wherein we should walk, and the thing that we should do.

⁴Kaj la profeto Jeremia diris al ili:Mi auxdis; jen mi pregxos al la Eternulo, via Dio, konforme al viaj vortoj, kaj cxion, kion la Eternulo respondos al vi, mi raportos al vi; mi nenion kasxos antaux vi.

⁴And Jeremiah the prophet said unto them, I have heard; behold, I will pray unto Jehovah your God according to your words; and it shall come to pass [that] whatsoever thing Jehovah shall answer you, I will declare it unto you: I will keep nothing back from you.

⁵Kaj ili diris al Jeremia:La Eternulo estu inter ni atestanto vera kaj fidela, ke ni agos konforme al cxio, kun kio la Eternulo, via Dio, sendos vin al ni;

⁵And they said to Jeremiah, Jehovah be a true and faithful witness amongst us, if we do not even according to all the word for which Jehovah thy God shall send thee to us.

⁶cxu estos bone, cxu estos malbone, ni auxskultos la vocxon de la Eternulo, nia Dio, al kiu ni vin sendas, por ke estu al ni bone, se ni auxskultos la vocxon de la Eternulo, nia Dio.

⁶Whether it be good or whether it be evil, we will hearken unto the voice of Jehovah our God, to whom we send thee; that it may be well with us when we hearken unto the voice of Jehovah our God.

⁷Post dek tagoj aperis la vorto de la Eternulo al Jeremia;

⁷And it came to pass at the end of ten days, that the word of Jehovah came unto Jeremiah.

⁸kaj li vokis Johxananon, filon de Kareahx, kaj cxiujn militestrojn, kiuj estis kun li, kaj la tutan popolon, de la malgrandaj gxis la grandaj,

⁸And he called Johanan the son of Kareah, and all the captains of the forces that were with him, and all the people from the least even unto the greatest,

⁹kaj diris al ili:Tiele diras la Eternulo, Dio de Izrael, al kiu vi min sendis, por faligi vian petegon antaux Li:

⁹and said unto them, Thus saith Jehovah the God of Israel, to whom ye sent me to present your supplication before him:

¹⁰Se vi restos en cxi tiu lando, Mi vin arangxos kaj ne ruinigos, Mi vin plantos kaj ne elradikigos; cxar Mi pentas pri la malbono, kiun Mi faris al vi.

¹⁰If ye will still abide in this land, then will I build you, and not overthrow [you], and I will plant you, and not pluck [you] up; for I repent me of the evil that I have done unto you.

¹¹Ne timu la regxon de Babel, kiun vi nun timas; ne timu lin, diras la Eternulo, cxar Mi estas kun vi, por helpi vin kaj por savi vin el lia mano.

¹¹Be not afraid of the king of Babylon, of whom ye are afraid: be not afraid of him, saith Jehovah; for I will be with you to save you, and to deliver you from his hand.

¹²Mi estos favorkora al vi, ke li vin kompatu kaj vin logxigu sur via tero.

¹²And I will grant mercies to you, that he may have mercy upon you, and cause you to return to your own land.

¹³Sed se vi diros:Ni ne volas logxi en cxi tiu lando, kaj vi ne obeos la vocxon de la Eternulo, via Dio,

¹³But if ye say, We will not dwell in this land; so as not to hearken unto the voice of Jehovah your God,

¹⁴dirante:Ne, ni iros en la landon Egiptan, kie ni ne vidos militon kaj ne auxdos sonon de trumpeto kaj ne malsatos koncerne panon, kaj tie ni restos:

¹⁴saying, No; but we will go into the land of Egypt, where we shall see no war, nor hear the sound of the trumpet, nor have hunger for bread; and there will we dwell;

¹⁵tiam auxskultu la vorton de la Eternulo, ho restajxo de Jehuda:tiele diras la Eternulo Cebaot, Dio de Izrael:Se vi turnos vian vizagxon, por iri en Egiptujon, kaj vi iros, por tie eklogxi:

¹⁵-- and now, therefore, hear the word of Jehovah, ye remnant of Judah: thus saith Jehovah of hosts, the God of Israel: If ye really set your faces to enter into Egypt, and go to sojourn there,

¹⁶tiam la glavo, kiun vi timas, atingos vin tie, en la lando Egipta, kaj la malsato, pri kiu vi zorgas, persekutos vin tie en Egiptujo, kaj tie vi mortos.

¹⁶then it shall come to pass, that the sword which ye fear shall overtake you there in the land of Egypt, and the famine, whereof ye are afraid, shall follow hard after you there in Egypt; and there ye shall die.

¹⁷Tiamaniere cxiuj homoj, kiuj turnis sian vizagxon, por iri en Egiptujon, por tie eklogxi, mortos de glavo, de malsato, kaj de pesto, kaj neniu el ili restos, nek forsavigxos de la malbono, kiun Mi venigos sur ilin.

¹⁷And it shall be that all the men that have set their faces to go into Egypt to sojourn there shall die by the sword, by the famine, and by the pestilence; and none of them shall remain or escape from the evil that I will bring upon them.

¹⁸CXar tiele diras la Eternulo Cebaot, Dio de Izrael:Kiel elversxigxis Mia kolero kaj indigno sur la logxantojn de Jerusalem, tiel Mia kolero elversxigxos sur vin, kiam vi venos en Egiptujon, kaj vi farigxos objekto de jxuro, de teruro, de malbeno, kaj de honto, kaj vi ne plu vidos cxi tiun lokon.

¹⁸For thus saith Jehovah of hosts, the God of Israel: As mine anger and my fury have been poured forth upon the inhabitants of Jerusalem, so shall my fury be poured forth upon you, when ye shall enter into Egypt; and ye shall be an execration, and an astonishment, and a curse, and a reproach, and ye shall see this place no more.

¹⁹Pri vi, ho restajxo de Jehuda, la Eternulo parolis:Ne iru en Egiptujon; sciu, ke Mi avertis vin hodiaux.

¹⁹Jehovah hath said concerning you, the remnant of Judah, Go ye not into Egypt. Know certainly that I have admonished you this day.

²⁰Vi farigxis kulpaj kontraux viaj propraj animoj; cxar vi sendis min al la Eternulo, via Dio, dirante:Pregxu por ni al la Eternulo, nia Dio, kaj cxion, kion diros la Eternulo, nia Dio, sciigu al ni, por ke ni tion faru.

²⁰For ye deceived yourselves in your own souls, when ye sent me unto Jehovah your God, saying, Pray for us unto Jehovah our God; and according to all that Jehovah our God shall say, so declare unto us, and we will do it.

²¹Kaj mi sciigis al vi hodiaux, sed vi ne auxskultis la vocxon de la Eternulo, via Dio, nek cxion, kun kio Li sendis min al vi;

²¹And I have this day declared [it] to you; but ye have not obeyed the voice of Jehovah your God, nor anything for which he hath sent me unto you.

²²sciu do, ke vi mortos de glavo, de malsato, kaj de pesto, sur la loko, kien vi volas iri, por tie eklogxi.

²²And now know certainly that ye shall die by the sword, by the famine, and by the pestilence, in the place whither ye desire to go to sojourn.
