¹Trairu la stratojn de Jerusalem kaj rigardu, esploru kaj sercxu sur gxiaj palacoj, cxu vi trovos homon, kiu agas juste, kiu sercxas la veron-tiam Mi pardonos al gxi.

¹Run ye to and fro through the streets of Jerusalem, and see now, and know, and seek in the broadways thereof, if ye can find a man, if there be [any] that doeth justice, that seeketh fidelity; and I will pardon it.

²Ecx se ili diras:Mi jxuras per la Eternulo-ili tamen jxuras mensoge.

²And if they say, [As] Jehovah liveth! surely they swear falsely.

³Ho Eternulo, Viaj okuloj rigardas ja la fidelecon; Vi batas ilin, sed ili ne sentas doloron; Vi preskaux pereigas ilin, sed ili ne volas preni moralinstruon; sian vizagxon ili faris pli malmola ol roko, ili ne volas konvertigxi.

³Jehovah, are not thine eyes upon fidelity? Thou hast smitten them, but they are not sore; thou hast consumed them, they have refused to receive correction: they have made their faces harder than a rock; they have refused to return.

⁴Mi diris al mi:Eble ili estas malricxuloj, malkleruloj, ili ne konas la vojon de la Eternulo, la legxojn de sia Dio;

⁴And I said, Surely these are the wretched ones, they are foolish; for they know not the way of Jehovah, the judgment of their God.

⁵mi iros al la eminentuloj, kaj mi parolos kun ili:ili ja konas la vojon de la Eternulo, la legxojn de sia Dio; sed ankaux ili cxiuj kune rompis la jugon, dissxiris la sxnurojn.

⁵I will go unto the great men, and will speak unto them; for they know the way of Jehovah, the judgment of their God; but these have altogether broken the yoke, have burst the bonds.

⁶Pro tio mortigos ilin leono el la arbaro, lupo el la stepo ilin prirabos, leopardo atendos ilin apud iliaj urboj; cxiu, kiu eliros el tie, estos dissxirata. CXar multaj farigxis iliaj krimoj, fortaj farigxis iliaj perfidoj.

⁶Therefore a lion out of the forest shall slay them, a wolf of the evenings shall waste them; the leopard lurketh against their cities, every one that goeth out thence is torn in pieces: for their transgressions are multiplied, their backslidings are increased.

⁷Kiel Mi tion pardonus al vi? viaj filoj Min forlasis kaj jxuris per ne- dioj. Mi jxurigis ilin, sed ili adultas kaj iras amase en malcxastejojn.

⁷Wherefore should I pardon thee? Thy children have forsaken me, and swear by them that are not God. I have satiated them, and they have committed adultery, and they troop to the harlots' house.

⁸Ili farigxis kiel voluptemaj pasiaj cxevaloj; cxiu blekas al la edzino de sia proksimulo.

⁸[As] well fed horses, they roam about, every one neigheth after his neighbour's wife.

⁹CXu Mi povas ne puni pro tio? diras la Eternulo; kaj cxu al tia popolo Mia animo povas ne vengxi?

⁹Shall I not visit for these things? saith Jehovah, and shall not my soul be avenged on such a nation as this?

¹⁰Iru sur gxiajn muregojn kaj detruu ilin, tamen ne tute ekstermu; forigu gxiajn brancxojn, cxar ne por la Eternulo ili estas.

¹⁰Go up upon her walls, and destroy; but make not a full end; take away her battlements, for they are not Jehovah's.

¹¹CXar forte perfidis Min la domo de Izrael kaj la domo de Jehuda, diras la Eternulo.

¹¹For the house of Israel and the house of Judah have dealt very treacherously against me, saith Jehovah.

¹²Ili neis la ekzistadon de la Eternulo, kaj diris:Li ne ekzistas, kaj ne venos sur nin malbono, kaj glavon kaj malsaton ni ne vidos.

¹²They have denied Jehovah, and say, He is not; and evil shall not come upon us, nor shall we see sword nor famine;

¹³Kaj la profetoj estas kiel vento, ne trovigxas en ili la vorto de Dio; tiel farigxu al ili.

¹³and the prophets shall become wind, and the word is not in them: thus shall it be done unto them.

¹⁴Pro tio tiele diras la Eternulo, Dio Cebaot:Pro tio, ke vi parolas tiajn vortojn, jen Mi metos Miajn vortojn en vian busxon kiel fajron, kaj cxi tiu popolo estos kiel ligno, kiun gxi konsumos.

¹⁴Therefore thus saith Jehovah, the God of hosts: Because ye speak this word, behold, I will make my words in thy mouth fire, and this people wood, and it shall devour them.

¹⁵Jen Mi venigos sur vin, sur la domon de Izrael, popolon de malproksime, diras la Eternulo, popolon fortan, popolon antikvan, popolon, kies lingvon vi ne scias; kaj vi ne komprenos, kion gxi parolas.

¹⁵Behold, I bring a nation upon you from afar, house of Israel, saith Jehovah: it is a mighty nation, it is an ancient nation, a nation whose language thou knowest not, neither understandest thou what they say.

¹⁶GXia sagujo estas kiel malfermita tombo; cxiuj ili estas herooj.

¹⁶Their quiver is as an open sepulchre; they are all mighty men.

¹⁷GXi formangxos vian rikolton kaj vian panon, ekstermos viajn filojn kaj viajn filinojn, formangxos viajn sxafojn kaj viajn bovojn, formangxos viajn vinberojn kaj viajn figojn, detruos per glavo viajn fortikigitajn urbojn, kiujn vi fidas.

¹⁷And they shall eat up thy harvest and thy bread, they shall eat up thy sons and thy daughters, they shall eat up thy flocks and thy herds, they shall eat up thy vines and thy fig-trees; they shall destroy with the sword thy strong cities, wherein thou trustedst.

¹⁸Sed ecx en tiu tempo, diras la Eternulo, Mi ne pereigos vin tute.

¹⁸Nevertheless in those days, saith Jehovah, I will not make a full end with you.

¹⁹Kaj kiam oni demandos:Pro kio la Eternulo, nia Dio, faras al ni cxion cxi tion? tiam diru al ili:Kiel vi forlasis Min kaj servas al fremdaj dioj en via lando, tiel vi servos al fremduloj en lando, kiu ne apartenas al vi.

¹⁹And it shall come to pass, when ye shall say, Wherefore hath Jehovah our God done all these things unto us? then shalt thou say to them, As ye have forsaken me, and served strange gods in your land, so shall ye serve strangers in a land that is not yours.

²⁰Anoncu tion en la domo de Jakob kaj auxdigu en Judujo, dirante:

²⁰Declare this in the house of Jacob, and publish it in Judah, saying,

²¹Auxskultu cxi tion, ho popolo malsagxa kaj senkora, kiu havas okulojn, sed ne vidas, havas orelojn, sed ne auxdas.

²¹Hear now this, O foolish and heartless people, who have eyes and see not; who have ears, and hear not.

²²CXu vi ne timas Min? diras la Eternulo; cxu vi ne tremas antaux Mi, kiu faris sablon limo por la maro, arangxo eterna, kiun gxi ne transpasxas? kiom ajn gxi skuigxas, gxi nenion povas fari; kiom ajn bruas gxiaj ondoj, ili ne povas gxin transpasxi.

²²Will ye not fear me? saith Jehovah. Will ye not tremble at my presence, who have set the sand a bound for the sea by a perpetual decree, and it shall not pass it? and its waves toss themselves, but they do not prevail; and they roar, yet can they not pass over it?

²³Sed cxi tiu popolo havas koron defaleman kaj neobeeman, ili defalis kaj foriris.

²³But this people hath a stubborn and a rebellious heart; they have turned aside and are gone.

²⁴Kaj ili ne diris en sia koro:Ni timu la Eternulon, nian Dion, kiu donas al ni pluvon frusezonan kaj malfrusezonan en gxia tempo, kiu gardas por ni la semajnojn, destinitajn por la rikolto.

²⁴And they say not in their heart, Let us now fear Jehovah our God, that giveth rain, both the early and the latter, in its season; who preserveth unto us the appointed weeks of harvest.

²⁵Viaj malbonagoj tion forklinis, kaj viaj pekoj forigis de vi la bonon.

²⁵Your iniquities have turned away these things, and your sins have withholden from you what is good.

²⁶CXar inter Mia popolo trovigxas malvirtuloj, kiuj faras insidojn, starigas pereigajn kaptilojn, kaptas la homojn.

²⁶For among my people are found wicked [men]: they lay wait, as fowlers stoop down; they set a trap, they catch men.

²⁷Kiel birdejo estas plena de birdoj, tiel iliaj domoj estas plenaj de trompakirajxoj; tial ili farigxis grandaj kaj ricxaj.

²⁷As a cage full of birds, so are their houses full of deceit: therefore they are become great, and have enriched themselves.

²⁸Ili farigxis grasaj, ili farigxis dikaj; ili faris malbonajn agojn; jugxon ili ne faras, jugxon pri orfo, sed ili gxuas la vivon; justecon al malricxuloj ili ne faras.

²⁸They are become fat, they shine, yea, they surpass in deeds of wickedness; they judge not the cause, the cause of the fatherless, and they prosper; and the right of the needy do they not adjudge.

²⁹CXu Mi povas lasi tion sen puno? diras la Eternulo; cxu al tia popolo Mia animo ne vengxos?

²⁹Shall I not visit for these things? saith Jehovah; shall not my soul be avenged on such a nation as this?

³⁰Io konsterna kaj terura farigxis en la lando:

³⁰An appalling and horrible thing is committed in the land:

³¹la profetoj profetas malverajxon, kaj la pastroj regas per ili; kaj al mia popolo tio placxas. Kaj kion vi faros en la estonteco?

³¹the prophets prophesy falsehood, and the priests rule by their means; and my people love [to have it] so. But what will ye do in the end thereof?
