¹Tion mi parolis al vi, por ke vi ne falpusxigxu.

¹These things I have spoken unto you that ye may not be offended.

²Ili forpelos vin el la sinagogoj; ecx venas la horo, kiam iu, kiu mortigos vin, opinios, ke li faras servon al Dio.

²They shall put you out of the synagogues; but the hour is coming that every one who kills you will think to render service to God;

³Kaj tion ili faros pro tio, ke ili ne konis la Patron, nek min.

³and these things they will do because they have not known the Father nor me.

⁴Sed tion mi parolis al vi, por ke vi rememoru, kiam gxia tempo venos, ke mi gxin antauxdiris al vi. Sed en la komenco mi ne diris al vi tion, cxar mi estis kun vi.

⁴But I have spoken these things to you, that when their hour shall have come, ye may remember them, that I have said [them] unto you. But I did not say these things unto you from [the] beginning, because I was with you.

⁵Sed nun mi foriras al Tiu, kiu min sendis; kaj neniu el vi demandas min:Kien vi iras?

⁵But now I go to him that has sent me, and none of you demands of me, Where goest thou?

⁶Sed cxar mi tiel parolis al vi, malgxojo plenigis vian koron.

⁶But because I have spoken these things to you, sorrow has filled your heart.

⁷Tamen mi diras al vi la veron:Estas bone por vi, ke mi foriros; cxar se mi ne foriros, la Parakleto ne venos al vi; sed se mi foriros, mi sendos lin al vi.

⁷But I say the truth to you, It is profitable for you that I go away; for if I do not go away, the Comforter will not come to you; but if I go I will send him to you.

⁸Kaj kiam li alvenos, li pruvos la mondon kulpa rilate pekon kaj justecon kaj jugxon:

⁸And having come, he will bring demonstration to the world, of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment:

⁹rilate pekon, cxar ili ne kredas al mi;

⁹of sin, because they do not believe on me;

¹⁰rilate justecon, cxar mi foriras al la Patro, kaj vi jam ne rigardas min;

¹⁰of righteousness, because I go away to [my] Father, and ye behold me no longer;

¹¹rilate jugxon, cxar la estro de cxi tiu mondo estas jugxita.

¹¹of judgment, because the ruler of this world is judged.

¹²Mi havas ankoraux multon por diri al vi, sed vi ne povas gxin nun elporti.

¹²I have yet many things to say to you, but ye cannot bear them now.

¹³Tamen kiam venos li, la Spirito de la vero, li gvidos vin en cxian veron; cxar li parolos ne de si mem; sed kion ajn li auxdos, tion li parolos; kaj li anoncos al vi venontajn aferojn.

¹³But when *he* is come, the Spirit of truth, he shall guide you into all the truth: for he shall not speak from himself; but whatsoever he shall hear he shall speak; and he will announce to you what is coming.

¹⁴Li gloros min, cxar li ricevos el miaj kaj anoncos al vi.

¹⁴He shall glorify me, for he shall receive of mine and shall announce [it] to you.

¹⁵CXio ajn, kion la Patro havas, estas mia; tial mi diris, ke li ricevos el miaj kaj anoncos al vi.

¹⁵All things that the Father has are mine; on account of this I have said that he receives of mine and shall announce [it] to you.

¹⁶Mallongan tempon, kaj vi jam ne rigardas min; kaj denove mallongan tempon, kaj vi min vidos.

¹⁶A little while and ye do not behold me; and again a little while and ye shall see me, [because I go away to the Father].

¹⁷Iuj do el liaj discxiploj diris al aliaj:Kio estas cxi tio, kion li diras al ni:Mallongan tempon, kaj vi ne rigardas min; kaj denove mallongan tempon, kaj vi min vidos; kaj:CXar mi foriras al la Patro?

¹⁷[Some] of his disciples therefore said to one another, What is this he says to us, A little while and ye do not behold me; and again a little while and ye shall see me, and, Because I go away to the Father?

¹⁸Ili do diris:Kio estas cxi tio, kion li diras:Mallongan tempon? Ni ne komprenas lian diron.

¹⁸They said therefore, What is this which he says [of] the little while? We do not know [of] what he speaks.

¹⁹Jesuo ekvidis, ke ili deziras demandi lin, kaj li diris al ili:CXu vi sercxas inter vi klarigon pri tio, kion mi diris:Mallongan tempon, kaj vi ne rigardas min; kaj denove mallongan tempon, kaj vi min vidos?

¹⁹Jesus knew therefore that they desired to demand of him, and said to them, Do ye inquire of this among yourselves that I said, A little while and ye do not behold me; and again a little while and ye shall see me?

²⁰Vere, vere, mi diras al vi, ke vi ploros kaj lamentos, sed la mondo gxojos; vi estos malgxojaj, sed via malgxojo farigxos gxojo.

²⁰Verily, verily, I say to you, that ye shall weep and lament, ye, but the world shall rejoice; and ye will be grieved, but your grief shall be turned to joy.

²¹Virino, kiam sxi akusxas, havas malgxojon, cxar sxia horo venis; sed kiam sxi naskis la infaneton, sxi jam ne memoras sian doloregon, pro gxojo, cxar homo naskigxis en la mondon.

²¹A woman, when she gives birth to a child, has grief because her hour has come; but when the child is born, she no longer remembers the trouble, on account of the joy that a man has been born into the world.

²²Vi do ankaux havas nun malgxojon; sed mi revidos vin, kaj via koro gxojos, kaj neniu forprenos de vi vian gxojon.

²²And ye now therefore have grief; but I will see you again, and your heart shall rejoice, and your joy no one takes from you.

²³Kaj en tiu tago vi demandos min pri nenio. Vere, vere, mi diras al vi, se vi petos ion de la Patro, Li donos gxin al vi en mia nomo.

²³And in that day ye shall demand nothing of me: verily, verily, I say to you, Whatsoever ye shall ask the Father in my name, he will give you.

²⁴GXis nun vi petis nenion en mia nomo; petu, kaj vi ricevos, por ke via gxojo estu plena.

²⁴Hitherto ye have asked nothing in my name: ask, and ye shall receive, that your joy may be full.

²⁵CXi tion mi parolis al vi alegorie; sed venas la horo, kiam mi jam ne parolos al vi alegorie, sed anoncos al vi malkasxe pri la Patro.

²⁵These things I have spoken to you in allegories; the hour is coming that I will no longer speak to you in allegories, but will declare to you openly concerning the Father.

²⁶En tiu tago vi petos en mia nomo; kaj mi ne diras, ke mi petos de la Patro pro vi;

²⁶In that day ye shall ask in my name; and I say not to you that I will demand of the Father for you,

²⁷cxar la Patro mem vin amas tial, ke vi min amis, kaj kredis, ke mi elvenis de Dio.

²⁷for the Father himself has affection for you, because ye have had affection for me, and have believed that I came out from God.

²⁸Mi elvenis de la Patro, kaj alvenis en la mondon; denove mi lasas la mondon, kaj iras al la Patro.

²⁸I came out from the Father and have come into the world; again, I leave the world and go to the Father.

²⁹Liaj discxiploj diris:Jen nun vi parolas malkasxe, kaj nenian alegorion diras.

²⁹His disciples say to him, Lo, now thou speakest openly and utterest no allegory.

³⁰Nun ni scias, ke vi cxion scias, kaj ne bezonas, ke iu demandu vin; pro tio ni kredas, ke vi elvenis de Dio.

³⁰Now we know that thou knowest all things, and hast not need that any one should demand of thee. By this we believe that thou art come from God.

³¹Jesuo respondis al ili:CXu vi nun kredas?

³¹Jesus answered them, Do ye now believe?

³²Jen venas la horo, kaj ecx jam venis, kiam vi disigxos, cxiu al sia loko, kaj vi lasos min sola; kaj tamen mi ne estas sola, cxar la Patro estas kun mi.

³²Behold, [the] hour is coming, and has come, that ye shall be scattered, each to his own, and shall leave me alone; and [yet] I am not alone, for the Father is with me.

³³Tion mi parolis al vi, por ke en mi vi havu pacon. En la mondo vi havos suferadon; sed kuragxu; mi venkis la mondon.

³³These things have I spoken to you that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye have tribulation; but be of good courage: I have overcome the world.
