¹And on the third day a marriage took place in Cana of Galilee, and the mother of Jesus was there.

²And Jesus also, and his disciples, were invited to the marriage.

³Kaj kiam mankis vino, la patrino de Jesuo diris al li:Ili ne havas vinon.

³And wine being deficient, the mother of Jesus says to him, They have no wine.

⁴Kaj Jesuo diris al sxi:Kio estas inter mi kaj vi, virino? mia horo ankoraux ne venis.

⁴Jesus says to her, What have I to do with thee, woman? mine hour has not yet come.

⁵Lia patrino diris al la servantoj:Kion ajn li diros al vi, tion faru.

⁵His mother says to the servants, Whatever he may say to you, do.

⁶Kaj estis tie ses akvokuvoj sxtonaj, metitaj laux la purigo de la Judoj, enhavantaj po du gxis tri metretoj.

⁶Now there were standing there six stone water-vessels, according to the purification of the Jews, holding two or three measures each.

⁷Jesuo diris al ili:Plenigu la akvokuvojn per akvo. Kaj oni plenigis ilin gxis la rando.

⁷Jesus says to them, Fill the water-vessels with water. And they filled them up to the brim.

⁸Kaj li diris al ili:CXerpu nun, kaj alportu al la festenestro. Kaj oni alportis.

⁸And he says to them, Draw out now, and carry [it] to the feast-master. And they carried [it].

⁹Kiam la festenestro gustumis la akvon, nun farigxintan vino, kaj ne sciis, de kie gxi estas (sciis tamen la servantoj, kiuj cxerpis la akvon), la festenestro alvokis la fiancxon,

⁹But when the feast-master had tasted the water which had been made wine (and knew not whence it was, but the servants knew who drew the water), the feast-master calls the bridegroom,

¹⁰kaj diris al li:CXiu homo prezentas unue la bonan vinon, kaj kiam oni jam drinkis, tiam la malpli bonan; sed vi rezervis la bonan vinon gxis nun.

¹⁰and says to him, Every man sets on first the good wine, and when [men] have well drunk, then the inferior; thou hast kept the good wine till now.

¹¹CXi tiun komencon de signoj Jesuo faris en Kana Galilea, kaj elmontris sian gloron, kaj liaj discxiploj kredis al li.

¹¹This beginning of signs did Jesus in Cana of Galilee, and manifested his glory; and his disciples believed on him.

¹²Post tio li malsupreniris al Kapernaum, kaj kun li lia patrino kaj liaj fratoj kaj liaj discxiploj; kaj tie ili restis ne multajn tagojn.

¹²After this he descended to Capernaum, he and his mother and his brethren and his disciples; and there they abode not many days.

¹³Kaj la Pasko de la Judoj alproksimigxis, kaj Jesuo supreniris al Jerusalem.

¹³And the passover of the Jews was near, and Jesus went up to Jerusalem.

¹⁴Kaj li trovis en la templo vendistojn de bovoj kaj sxafoj kaj kolomboj, kaj la monsxangxistojn sidantajn;

¹⁴And he found in the temple the sellers of oxen and sheep and doves, and the money-changers sitting;

¹⁵kaj farinte skurgxon el sxnuretoj, li elpelis cxiujn el la templo, sxafojn kaj bovojn; kaj elsxutis la monerojn de la monsxangxistoj kaj renversis la tablojn;

¹⁵and, having made a scourge of cords, he cast [them] all out of the temple, both the sheep and the oxen; and he poured out the change of the money-changers, and overturned the tables,

¹⁶kaj al la vendistoj de la kolomboj li diris:Forportu tion de cxi tie; ne faru la domon de mia Patro domo de komerco.

¹⁶and said to the sellers of doves, Take these things hence; make not my Father's house a house of merchandise.

¹⁷La discxiploj rememoris, ke estis skribite:Fervoro pri Via domo min konsumis.

¹⁷[And] his disciples remembered that it is written, The zeal of thy house devours me.

¹⁸La Judoj do respondis kaj diris al li:Kian signon vi montras al ni, cxar vi faras tion?

¹⁸The Jews therefore answered and said to him, What sign shewest thou to us, that thou doest these things?

¹⁹Respondis Jesuo kaj diris al ili:Detruu cxi tiun sanktejon, kaj mi levos gxin en la dauxro de tri tagoj.

¹⁹Jesus answered and said to them, Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up.

²⁰La Judoj diris:Kvardek ses jarojn cxi tiu sanktejo estis konstruata; cxu vi levos gxin en la dauxro de tri tagoj?

²⁰The Jews therefore said, Forty and six years was this temple building, and thou wilt raise it up in three days?

²¹Sed li parolis pri la sanktejo de sia korpo.

²¹But *he* spoke of the temple of his body.

²²Kiam do li levigxis el la mortintoj, la discxiploj rememoris, ke li diris tion; kaj ili kredis la Skribon, kaj la vorton, kiun Jesuo diris.

²²When therefore he was raised from among [the] dead, his disciples remembered that he had said this, and believed the scripture and the word which Jesus had spoken.

²³Kaj kiam li estis en Jerusalem cxe la Pasko, dum la festo, multaj fidis al lia nomo, vidante la signojn, kiujn li faris.

²³And when he was in Jerusalem, at the passover, at the feast, many believed on his name, beholding his signs which he wrought.

²⁴Sed Jesuo ne konfidis sin al ili, cxar li konis cxiujn,

²⁴But Jesus himself did not trust himself to them, because he knew all [men],

²⁵kaj ne bezonis, ke iu atestu pri la homo, cxar li mem sciis, kio estas en la homo.

²⁵and that he had not need that any should testify of man, for himself knew what was in man.
