¹Then Joshua called the Reubenites, and the Gadites, and the half tribe of Manasseh,

²and said unto them, Ye have kept all that Moses the servant of Jehovah commanded you, and have hearkened to my voice in all that I commanded you.

³Vi ne forlasis viajn fratojn dum longa tempo gxis nun, kaj vi plenumis la deciditajxon laux la ordono de la Eternulo, via Dio.

³Ye have not left your brethren these many days unto this day, and ye have kept the charge of the commandment of Jehovah your God.

⁴Nun la Eternulo, via Dio, donis ripozon al viaj fratoj, kiel Li diris al ili; turnu do vin nun, kaj iru al viaj tendoj sur la teron de via posedajxo, kiun donis al vi Moseo, servanto de la Eternulo, transe de Jordan.

⁴And now Jehovah your God hath given rest to your brethren, as he said unto them; and now return, and get you unto your tents, unto the land of your possession, which Moses the servant of Jehovah gave you beyond the Jordan.

⁵Sed forte penu plenumi la ordonojn kaj la instruon, kiujn donis al vi Moseo, servanto de la Eternulo, por ami la Eternulon, vian Dion, kaj iri laux cxiuj Liaj vojoj kaj observi Liajn ordonojn kaj alfortikigxi al Li kaj servi al Li per via tuta koro kaj per via tuta animo.

⁵Only, take great heed to do the commandment and the law, which Moses the servant of Jehovah commanded you, to love Jehovah your God, and to walk in all his ways, and to keep his commandments, and to cleave unto him, and to serve him with all your heart and with all your soul.

⁶Kaj Josuo benis ilin kaj forliberigis ilin; kaj ili iris al siaj tendoj.

⁶And Joshua blessed them, and sent them away; and they went to their tents.

⁷Kaj al unu duono de la tribo de Manase Moseo donis posedajxon en Basxan, kaj al la dua duono Josuo donis posedajxon kun iliaj fratoj transe de Jordan, okcidente. Kaj kiam Josuo forliberigis ilin al iliaj tendoj, li benis ilin.

⁷And to half the tribe of Manasseh Moses had given [inheritance] in Bashan, and to the other half thereof had Joshua given among their brethren on this side the Jordan westward. And when Joshua sent them away to their tents, he blessed them also,

⁸and spoke to them, saying, Return unto your tents with much wealth and with very much cattle, with silver, and with gold, and with copper, and with iron, and with clothing, in very great quantity; divide the spoil of your enemies with your brethren.

⁹Kaj turnigxis la Rubenidoj kaj la Gadidoj kaj la duontribo de Manase, kaj foriris de la Izraelidoj el SXilo, kiu estas en la lando Kanaana, por iri en la landon Gilead, en la landon de ilia posedajxo, kiun ili ekposedis laux la ordono de la Eternulo per Moseo.

⁹And the children of Reuben and the children of Gad and the half tribe of Manasseh returned, and departed from the children of Israel out of Shiloh, which is in the land of Canaan, to go to the country of Gilead, into the land of their possession, of which they had become possessed, according to the word of Jehovah through Moses.

¹⁰Kaj ili venis en la distriktojn cxe Jordan, kiuj estas en la lando Kanaana; kaj la Rubenidoj kaj la Gadidoj kaj la duontribo de Manase konstruis tie altaron cxe Jordan, altaron grandan kaj bonaspektan.

¹⁰And they came to the districts of the Jordan that are in the land of Canaan; and the children of Reuben and the children of Gad and the half tribe of Manasseh built there an altar by the Jordan, an altar of grand appearance.

¹¹Kaj auxdis la Izraelidoj:Jen la Rubenidoj kaj la Gadidoj kaj la duontribo de Manase konstruis altaron apud la lando Kanaana, en la distriktoj de Jordan, sur la flanko de la Izraelidoj.

¹¹And the children of Israel heard say, Behold, the children of Reuben and the children of Gad and the half tribe of Manasseh have built an altar over against the land of Canaan, in the districts of the Jordan, separately from the children of Israel.

¹²And when the children of Israel heard [of it], the whole assembly of the children of Israel gathered together at Shiloh, to go up against them to war.

¹³Kaj la Izraelidoj sendis al la Rubenidoj kaj la Gadidoj kaj la duontribo de Manase en la landon Gilead Pinehxason, filon de la pastro Eleazar,

¹³And the children of Israel sent to the children of Reuben, and to the children of Gad, and to the half tribe of Manasseh, into the land of Gilead, Phinehas the son of Eleazar the priest,

¹⁴kaj kun li dek cxefojn, po unu cxefo el tribo, el cxiuj triboj de Izrael; kaj cxiu el ili estis estro de patrodomo inter la miloj de Izrael.

¹⁴and with him ten princes, of each father's house a prince, out of all the tribes of Israel; and each of them was head of a father's house, of the thousands of Israel.

¹⁵Kaj ili venis al la Rubenidoj kaj la Gadidoj kaj la duontribo de Manase en la landon Gilead, kaj ekparolis al ili, dirante:

¹⁵And they came to the children of Reuben, and to the children of Gad, and to the half tribe of Manasseh, to the land of Gilead, and spoke with them, saying,

¹⁶Tiel diras la tuta komunumo de la Eternulo:Kio estas cxi tiu krimo, kiun vi faris kontraux la Dio de Izrael, forturnigxinte hodiaux de la Eternulo, konstruinte al vi altaron kaj ribelante hodiaux kontraux la Eternulo?

¹⁶Thus saith the whole assembly of Jehovah: What wickedness is this which ye have committed against the God of Israel, to turn away this day from following Jehovah, in that ye have built yourselves an altar, rebelling this day against Jehovah?

¹⁷CXu ne suficxas al ni la krimo pri Peor, de kiu ni ne purigxis gxis la nuna tago kaj pro kiu trafis frapo la komunumon de Izrael?

¹⁷Is the iniquity of Peor too little for us? from which we are not cleansed until this day, although there was a plague in the assembly of Jehovah.

¹⁸Kaj vi forturnigxas nun de la Eternulo! estos tiel:hodiaux vi ribelas kontraux la Eternulo, kaj morgaux Li koleros kontraux la tuta komunumo de Izrael.

¹⁸And ye turn away this day from following Jehovah; and it will be, that since ye rebel this day against Jehovah, to-morrow he will be wroth with the whole assembly of Israel.

¹⁹Se la lando de via posedajxo sxajnas al vi malpura, tiam transiru en la landon de la posedajxo de la Eternulo, en kiu staras la logxejo de la Eternulo, kaj prenu posedajxon inter ni; sed kontraux la Eternulo ne ribelu, kaj kontraux ni ne ribelu, konstruante al vi altaron krom la altaro de la Eternulo, nia Dio.

¹⁹Notwithstanding, if the land of your possession is unclean, come over into the land of the possession of Jehovah, where Jehovah's tabernacle dwelleth, and take possession amongst us; but rebel not against Jehovah, and rebel not against us, in building for yourselves an altar besides the altar of Jehovah our God.

²⁰Jen, Ahxan, filo de Zerahx, faris krimon koncerne la anatemitajxon, kaj la kolero estis kontraux la tuta komunumo de Izrael, kaj ne li sola mortis pro sia krimo.

²⁰Did not Achan the son of Zerah commit a trespass in the accursed thing? and wrath fell on all the assembly of Israel, and he perished not alone in his iniquity.

²¹Kaj respondis la Rubenidoj kaj la Gadidoj kaj la duontribo de Manase, kaj diris al la milestroj de Izrael:

²¹And the children of Reuben and the children of Gad and the half tribe of Manasseh answered and said to the heads of the thousands of Israel,

²²Dio de la dioj, la Eternulo, Dio de la dioj, la Eternulo, Li scias, kaj Izrael sciu; se ni agis pro ribelo aux por defali de la Eternulo, tiam Li ne helpu nin hodiaux.

²²The ùGod of gods, Jehovah, the ùGod of gods, Jehovah, he knoweth, and Israel he shall know [it]; if it is in rebellion, or if in trespass against Jehovah, -- save us not this day!

²³Se ni konstruis al ni la altaron por tio, ke ni defalu de la Eternulo, aux ke ni alportu sur gxi bruloferon kaj farunoferon, aux ke ni faru sur gxi pacoferojn, tiam la Eternulo nin punu.

²³-- that we have built for ourselves an altar to turn from following Jehovah, and if it is to offer up burnt-offering and oblation on it, and if to offer peace-offerings thereon, let Jehovah himself require it [from us];

²⁴Ni faris tion pro zorgo pri tio, ke morgaux ne diru viaj filoj al niaj filoj:Kion komunan vi havas kun la Eternulo, Dio de Izrael?

²⁴and if we have not done it from fear of this thing, saying, In future your children will speak to our children, saying, What have ye to do with Jehovah the God of Israel?

²⁵kiel limon inter ni kaj vi, Rubenidoj kaj Gadidoj, la Eternulo metis Jordanon; vi ne havas parton en la Eternulo. Kaj tiamaniere viaj filoj malhelpus niajn filojn respekti la Eternulon.

²⁵Jehovah hath made the Jordan a border between us and you, ye children of Reuben and children of Gad, ye have no portion in Jehovah! And so shall your children make our children cease from fearing Jehovah.

²⁶Tial ni diris:Ni konstruu al ni altaron, ne por brulofero nek por aliaj oferoj,

²⁶And we said, Let us now set to work to build an altar, not for burnt-offering, nor for sacrifice,

²⁷sed nur por ke gxi estu atesto inter ni kaj vi kaj inter niaj estontaj generacioj, ke ni havas la rajton fari servon al la Eternulo antaux Li per niaj bruloferoj kaj per niaj bucxoferoj kaj per niaj pacoferoj, kaj por ke ne diru viaj filoj morgaux al niaj filoj:Vi ne havas parton en la Eternulo.

²⁷but to be a witness between us and you, and between our generations after us, that we might do service to Jehovah before him with our burnt-offerings, and with our sacrifices, and with our peace-offerings; that your children may not say to our children in future, Ye have no portion in Jehovah.

²⁸Kaj ni pensis:Se ili diros tion al ni kaj al niaj estontaj generacioj, tiam ni diros:Vidu la similajxon de la altaro de la Eternulo, kiun faris niaj patroj, ne por brulofero nek por bucxofero, sed nur kiel ateston inter ni kaj vi.

²⁸And we said, If it shall be that in future they so say to us and to our generations, we will say, Behold the pattern of the altar of Jehovah which our fathers made, not for burnt-offering, nor for sacrifice, but as a witness between us and you.

²⁹Malproksima de ni estas la deziro ribeli kontraux la Eternulo kaj defali hodiaux de la Eternulo, konstrui altaron por brulofero, por farunofero kaj por bucxofero, krom la altaro de la Eternulo, nia Dio, kiu estas antaux Lia tabernaklo.

²⁹Far be it from us that we should rebel against Jehovah, and turn this day from following Jehovah, in building an altar for burnt-offering, for oblation, and for sacrifice, besides the altar of Jehovah our God that is before his tabernacle.

³⁰Kaj la pastro Pinehxas, kaj la cxefoj de la komunumo, kaj la milestroj de Izrael, kiuj estis kun li, auxdis la vortojn, kiujn diris la Rubenidoj kaj la Gadidoj kaj la Manaseidoj, kaj tio placxis al ili.

³⁰And when Phinehas the priest and the princes of the assembly and the heads of the thousands of Israel that were with him heard the words that the children of Reuben and the children of Gad and the children of Manasseh spoke, it was good in their sight.

³¹Kaj la pastro Pinehxas, filo de Eleazar, diris al la Rubenidoj kaj la Gadidoj kaj la Manaseidoj:Nun ni scias, ke la Eternulo estas inter ni, cxar vi ne faris kontraux la Eternulo tiun krimon; vi savis la Izraelidojn kontraux la mano de la Eternulo.

³¹And Phinehas the son of Eleazar the priest said unto the children of Reuben, and to the children of Gad, and to the children of Manasseh, This day we perceive that Jehovah is among us, because ye have not committed this trespass against Jehovah: now have ye delivered the children of Israel out of the hand of Jehovah.

³²Kaj la pastro Pinehxas, filo de Eleazar, kaj la cxefoj reiris de la Rubenidoj kaj la Gadidoj el la lando Gilead en la landon Kanaanan, al la Izraelidoj, kaj alportis al ili respondon.

³²And Phinehas the son of Eleazar the priest, and the princes, returned from the children of Reuben, and from the children of Gad, out of the land of Gilead, to the land of Canaan, to the children of Israel, and brought them word again.

³³Kaj tio placxis al la Izraelidoj; kaj la Izraelidoj benis Dion, kaj ne havis plu la intencon iri kontraux ilin milite, por ruinigi la landon, en kiu logxis la Rubenidoj kaj la Gadidoj.

³³And the thing was good in the sight of the children of Israel, and the children of Israel blessed God, and no more said that they would go up in warfare against them, to destroy the land in which the children of Reuben and the children of Gad dwelt.

³⁴Kaj la Rubenidoj kaj la Gadidoj donis nomon al la altaro:ke gxi estu atesto inter ni, ke la Eternulo estas la Dio.

³⁴And the children of Reuben and the children of Gad gave a name to the altar; for it is a witness between us that Jehovah is God.
