¹Behold, I send my messenger, and he shall prepare the way before me; and the Lord whom ye seek will suddenly come to his temple, and the Angel of the covenant, whom ye delight in: behold, he cometh, saith Jehovah of hosts.

²Sed kiu eltenos la tagon de Lia veno? kaj kiu povos stari, kiam Li aperos? CXar Li estas kiel la fajro de fandisto, kaj kiel la sapo de la fulistoj.

²But who shall endure the day of his coming? and who shall stand when he appeareth? For he will be like a refiner's fire, and like fullers' lye.

³And he shall sit [as] a refiner and purifier of silver; and he will purify the children of Levi, and purge them as gold and silver; and they shall offer unto Jehovah an oblation in righteousness.

⁴Tiam al la Eternulo estos agrablaj la oferoj de Jehuda kaj de Jerusalem, kiel en la tempo antikva kaj kiel en la jaroj antauxaj.

⁴Then shall the oblation of Judah and Jerusalem be pleasant unto Jehovah, as in the days of old, and as in former years.

⁵Kaj Mi venos al vi, por jugxi; kaj Mi estos rapida atestanto kontraux la sorcxistoj kaj adultuloj, kontraux tiuj, kiuj jxuras mensoge, kontraux tiuj, kiuj estas maljustaj en la pagado al dungito, al vidvino kaj al orfo, kaj kontraux tiuj, kiuj forklinas la rajton de fremdulo kaj Min ne timas, diras la Eternulo Cebaot.

⁵And I will come near to you to judgment; and I will be a swift witness against the sorcerers, and against the adulterers, and against the false swearers, and against those that oppress the hired servant in [his] wages, the widow and the fatherless, and that turn aside the stranger [from his right], and fear not me, saith Jehovah of hosts.

⁶CXar Mi, la Eternulo, ne sxangxigxas; kaj vi, ho filoj de Jakob, ne neniigxos.

⁶For I Jehovah change not, and ye, sons of Jacob, are not consumed.

⁷De post la tagoj de viaj patroj vi deturnis vin de Miaj legxoj kaj ne observas ilin; revenu al Mi, kaj tiam Mi returnos Min al vi, diras la Eternulo Cebaot. Sed vi diras:En kio ni devas reveni?

⁷Since the days of your fathers have ye departed from my statutes, and have not kept them. Return unto me, and I will return unto you, saith Jehovah of hosts. But ye say, Wherein shall we return?

⁸CXu povas homo ruzi kontraux Dio? tamen vi ruzas kontraux Mi. Vi diras:En kio ni ruzas kontraux Vi? En la dekonajxo kaj la oferdonoj.

⁸Will a man rob God? But ye rob me. And ye say, Wherein do we rob thee? [In] tithes and heave-offerings.

⁹Sub la malbeno vi ruinigxas, sed kontraux Mi vi ruzas, la tuta popolo.

⁹Ye are cursed with a curse; and me ye rob, [even] this whole nation.

¹⁰Alportu la tutan dekonajxon en la provizejon, por ke estu mangxajxo en Mia domo, kaj elprovu Min per tio, diras la Eternulo Cebaot, cxu Mi ne malfermos al vi la aperturon de la cxielo kaj cxu Mi ne versxos sur vin benon abundan.

¹⁰Bring the whole tithe into the treasure-house, that there may be food in my house, and prove me now herewith, saith Jehovah of hosts, if I open not to you the windows of the heavens, and pour you out a blessing, till there be no place for it.

¹¹Tiam Mi faros por vi malpermeson al la mangxeganto, ke li ne pereigu al vi la fruktojn de la tero kaj ne senfruktigu al vi la vinberbrancxojn sur la kampo, diras la Eternulo Cebaot.

¹¹And I will rebuke the devourer for your sakes, and he shall not destroy the fruits of your ground; neither shall your vine cast its fruit before the time in the field, saith Jehovah of hosts.

¹²Kaj cxiuj nacioj nomos vin felicxaj, cxar vi estos lando ravanta, diras la Eternulo Cebaot.

¹²And all nations shall call you blessed; for ye shall be a delightsome land, saith Jehovah of hosts.

¹³Arogantaj estas kontraux Mi viaj vortoj, diras la Eternulo. Tamen vi diras:Kion ni parolas kontraux Vi?

¹³Your words have been stout against me, saith Jehovah; but ye say, What have we been speaking against thee?

¹⁴Vi parolas:Vane ni servas al Dio:kian profiton ni havas, se ni plenumas Liajn preskribojn kaj se ni iradas sengxoje antaux la Eternulo Cebaot?

¹⁴Ye say, It is vain to serve God; and what profit is it that we keep his charge, and that we walk mournfully before Jehovah of hosts?

¹⁵Tial ni diras, ke la malbonuloj estas felicxaj, kaj la malpiuloj estas bone arangxitaj; ili incitas Dion, sed restas sendifektaj.

¹⁵And now we hold the proud for happy; yea, they that work wickedness are built up; yea, they tempt God, and they escape.

¹⁶Sed tiuj, kiuj timas la Eternulon, diras al si reciproke:La Eternulo atentas kaj auxdas, kaj memorlibro estas skribata antaux Li pri tiuj, kiuj timas la Eternulon kaj respektas Lian nomon.

¹⁶Then they that feared Jehovah spoke often one to another; and Jehovah observed [it], and heard, and a book of remembrance was written before him for them that feared Jehovah, and that thought upon his name.

¹⁷Kaj ili estos Miaj, diras la Eternulo Cebaot, en la tago, kiam Mi arangxos Mian apartan trezoron; kaj Mi korfavoros ilin, kiel homo korfavoras sian filon, kiu servas al li.

¹⁷And they shall be unto me a peculiar treasure, saith Jehovah of hosts, in the day that I prepare; and I will spare them as a man spareth his own son that serveth him.

¹⁸Kaj vi denove vidos la diferencon inter virtulo kaj malvirtulo, inter tiu, kiu servas al Dio, kaj tiu, kiu ne servas al Li.

¹⁸And ye shall return and discern between the righteous and the wicked, between him that serveth God and him that serveth him not.
