¹En tiuj tagoj, kiam denove estis granda homamaso, kaj ili nenion havis mangxi, li alvokis al si siajn discxiplojn, kaj diris al ili:

¹In those days, there being again a great crowd, and they having nothing that they could eat, having called his disciples to [him], he says to them,

²Mi kortusxigxas pro la homamaso, cxar jam tri tagojn ili restas cxe mi kaj nenion havas mangxi;

²I have compassion on the crowd, because they have stayed with me already three days and they have not anything they can eat,

³kaj se mi forsendos ilin fastantaj al iliaj domoj, ili lacigxos sur la vojo; kaj iuj el ili venis de malproksime.

³and if I should dismiss them to their home fasting, they will faint on the way; for some of them are come from far.

⁴Kaj liaj discxiploj respondis al li:De kie oni povos satigi cxi tiujn homojn per panoj cxi tie en dezerto?

⁴And his disciples answered him, Whence shall one be able to satisfy these with bread here in a desert place?

⁵Kaj li demandis ilin:Kiom da panoj vi havas? Kaj ili diris:Sep.

⁵And he asked them, How many loaves have ye? And they said, Seven.

⁶Kaj li ordonis al la homamaso sidigxi sur la tero; kaj li prenis la sep panojn, kaj doninte dankon, li dispecigis ilin, kaj donis al la discxiploj por disdoni; kaj ili disdonis al la homamaso.

⁶And he commanded the crowd to sit down on the ground. And having taken the seven loaves, he gave thanks, and broke [them] and gave [them] to his disciples, that they might set [them] before [them]; and they set [them] before the crowd.

⁷Kaj ili havis kelkajn malgrandajn fisxojn; kaj beninte ilin, li ordonis disdoni ilin ankaux.

⁷And they had a few small fishes, and having blessed them, he desired these also to be set before [them].

⁸Kaj ili mangxis kaj satigxis; kaj oni kolektis da postrestintaj fragmentoj sep korbegojn.

⁸And they ate and were satisfied. And they took up of fragments that remained seven baskets.

⁹Kaj ili estis proksimume kvar mil, kaj li forsendis ilin.

⁹And they [that had eaten] were about four thousand; and he sent them away.

¹⁰Kaj tuj enirinte en la sxipeton kun siaj discxiploj, li iris al la regiono Dalmanuta.

¹⁰And immediately going on board ship with his disciples, he came into the parts of Dalmanutha.

¹¹Kaj alvenis la Fariseoj, kaj komencis diskuti kun li, sercxante cxe li signon el la cxielo, por provi lin.

¹¹And the Pharisees went out and began to dispute against him, seeking from him a sign from heaven, tempting him.

¹²Kaj forte gxeminte en sia spirito, li diris:Kial cxi tiu generacio sercxas signon? vere, mi diras al vi:Nenia signo estos donita al cxi tiu generacio.

¹²And groaning in his spirit, he says, Why does this generation seek a sign? Verily I say unto you, A sign shall in no wise be given to this generation.

¹³Kaj forlasinte ilin, li denove ensxipigxis kaj transiris al la alia bordo.

¹³And he left them, and going again on board ship, went away to the other side.

¹⁴Kaj ili forgesis preni panojn; kaj nur unu panon ili havis kun si en la sxipeto.

¹⁴And they forgot to take bread, and save one loaf, they had not [any] with them in the ship.

¹⁵Kaj li admonis ilin, dirante:Zorgu, gardu vin kontraux la fermentajxo de la Fariseoj kaj la fermentajxo de Herodo.

¹⁵And he charged them, saying, Take heed, beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and [of] the leaven of Herod.

¹⁶Kaj ili diskutis unu kun la alia, dirante:CXar ni ne havas panojn.

¹⁶And they reasoned with one another, [saying], It is because we have no bread.

¹⁷Kaj Jesuo, eksciante tion, diris al ili:Kial vi diskutas pro tio, ke vi ne havas panon? cxu vi ankoraux ne konscias nek komprenas? cxu via koro estas obstinigita?

¹⁷And Jesus knowing [it], says to them, Why reason ye because ye have no bread? Do ye not yet perceive nor understand? Have ye your heart [yet] hardened?

¹⁸Okulojn havante, cxu vi ne vidas? kaj orelojn havante, cxu vi ne auxdas? kaj cxu vi ne memoras?

¹⁸Having eyes, see ye not? and having ears, hear ye not? and do ye not remember?

¹⁹Kiam mi dispecigis la kvin panojn por la kvin mil, kiom da korboj da fragmentoj vi kolektis? Ili respondis al li:Dek du.

¹⁹When I broke the five loaves for the five thousand, how many hand-baskets full of fragments took ye up? They say to him, Twelve.

²⁰Kaj kiam la sep por la kvar mil, kiom da korbegoj da fragmentoj vi kolektis? Kaj ili respondis al li:Sep.

²⁰And when the seven for the four thousand, the filling of how many baskets of fragments took ye up? And they said, Seven.

²¹Kaj li diris al ili:CXu vi ankoraux ne komprenas?

²¹And he said to them, How do ye not yet understand?

²²Kaj ili alvenis al Betsaida. Kaj oni alkondukis al li blindulon, kaj petegis, ke li tusxu lin.

²²And he comes to Bethsaida; and they bring him a blind man, and beseech him that he might touch him.

²³Kaj preninte la manon de la blindulo, li elkondukis lin ekster la vilagxon; kaj kracxinte sur liajn okulojn, kaj surmetinte la manojn sur lin, li demandis lin:CXu vi vidas ion?

²³And taking hold of the hand of the blind man he led him forth out of the village, and having spit upon his eyes, he laid his hands upon him, and asked him if he beheld anything.

²⁴Kaj li ekrigardis, kaj diris:Mi vidas homojn, cxar mi vidas kvazaux arbojn irantajn.

²⁴And having looked up, he said, I behold men, for I see [them], as trees, walking.

²⁵Tiam denove li metis la manojn sur liajn okulojn; kaj li fikse rigardis, kaj resanigxis, kaj vidis cxion klare.

²⁵Then he laid his hands again upon his eyes, and he saw distinctly, and was restored and saw all things clearly.

²⁶Kaj li forsendis lin al lia domo, dirante:Nepre ne eniru en la vilagxon.

²⁶And he sent him to his house, saying, Neither enter into the village, nor tell [it] to any one in the village.

²⁷Kaj eliris Jesuo kaj liaj discxiploj en la vilagxojn de Cezarea Filipi; kaj sur la vojo li demandis siajn discxiplojn, dirante al ili:Kiu, diras la homoj, ke mi estas?

²⁷And Jesus went forth and his disciples, into the villages of Caesarea-Philippi. And by the way he asked his disciples, saying unto them, Who do men say that I am?

²⁸Kaj ili respondis al li:Johano, la Baptisto; laux aliaj:Elija; kaj laux aliaj:Unu el la profetoj.

²⁸And they answered him, saying, John the baptist; and others, Elias; but others, One of the prophets.

²⁹Kaj li demandis ilin:Sed vi-kiu vi diras, ke mi estas? Petro responde diris al li:Vi estas la Kristo.

²⁹And he asked them, But *ye*, who do ye say that I am? And Peter answering says to him, *Thou* art the Christ.

³⁰Kaj li admonis ilin, ke ili diru al neniu pri li.

³⁰And he charged them straitly, in order that they should tell no man about him.

³¹Kaj li komencis instrui al ili, ke la Filo de homo devas multe suferi, kaj esti rifuzita de la pliagxuloj kaj la cxefpastroj kaj la skribistoj, kaj esti mortigita, kaj post tri tagoj relevigxi.

³¹And he began to teach them that the Son of man must suffer many things, and be rejected of the elders and of the chief priests and of the scribes, and be killed, and after three days rise [again].

³²Kaj li parolis tiun diron malkasxe. Kaj Petro prenis lin, kaj komencis admoni lin.

³²And he spoke the thing openly. And Peter, taking him to [him], began to rebuke him.

³³Sed turninte sin kaj rigardante la discxiplojn, li admonis Petron, dirante:Iru malantaux min, Satano, cxar vi havas pensojn ne laux Dio, sed laux homoj.

³³But he, turning round and seeing his disciples, rebuked Peter, saying, Get away behind me, Satan, for thy mind is not on the things that are of God, but on the things that are of men.

³⁴Kaj alvokinte al si la homamason kun siaj discxiploj, li diris al ili:Se iu volas veni post mi, li abnegaciu sin, kaj levu sian krucon, kaj sekvu min.

³⁴And having called the crowd with his disciples, he said to them, Whoever desires to come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross and follow me.

³⁵CXar kiu volos savi sian animon, tiu gxin perdos; kaj kiu perdos sian animon pro mi kaj pro la evangelio, tiu gxin savos.

³⁵For whosoever shall desire to save his life shall lose it, but whosoever shall lose his life for my sake and the gospel's shall save it.

³⁶CXar kiel profitus homo, se li gajnus la tutan mondon kaj perdus sian animon?

³⁶For what shall it profit a man if he gain the whole world and suffer the loss of his soul?

³⁷CXar kion homo donu intersxangxe por sia animo?

³⁷for what should a man give in exchange for his soul?

³⁸CXar kiu hontos pri mi kaj miaj paroloj antaux cxi tiu adultema kaj peka generacio, pri tiu ankaux hontos la Filo de homo, kiam li venos en la gloro de sia Patro kun la sanktaj angxeloj.

³⁸For whosoever shall be ashamed of me and of my words in this adulterous and sinful generation, of him shall the Son of man also be ashamed when he shall come in the glory of his Father with the holy angels.
