¹Now gather thyself in troops, O daughter of troops; he hath laid siege against us: they shall smite the judge of Israel with a rod upon the cheek.

²Kaj vi, ho Bet-Lehxem Efrata, kiu estas malgranda inter la milejoj de Judujo, el vi eliros al Mi tiu, kiu devas esti reganto en Izrael kaj kies deveno estas de tempo tre antikva.

²(And thou, Bethlehem Ephratah, little to be among the thousands of Judah, out of thee shall he come forth unto me [who is] to be Ruler in Israel: whose goings forth are from of old, from the days of eternity.)

³Li lasos ilin gxis la tempo, kiam la naskontino estos naskinta; tiam liaj ceteraj fratoj revenos al la idoj de Izrael.

³Therefore will he give them up, until the time when she which travaileth shall have brought forth: and the residue of his brethren shall return unto the children of Israel.

⁴Li starigxos kaj pasxtos kun la forto de la Eternulo, kun la majesto de la nomo de la Eternulo, lia Dio, kaj tiuj konvertigxos; cxar tiam li farigxos granda gxis la randoj de la tero.

⁴And he shall stand and feed [his flock] in the strength of Jehovah, in the majesty of the name of Jehovah his God. And they shall abide; for now shall he be great even unto the ends of the earth.

⁵Kaj li estos paco. Kiam la Asiriano venos en nian landon kaj enpasxos en niajn palacojn, ni starigos kontraux li sep pasxtistojn kaj ok eminentulojn.

⁵And this [man] shall be Peace. When the Assyrian shall come into our land, and when he shall tread in our palaces, then shall we raise against him seven shepherds, and eight princes of men.

⁶Ili pasxtos la landon Asirian per glavo kaj la landon de Nimrod per iliaj lancoj; kaj li savos nin kontraux la Asiriano, kiam cxi tiu venos en nian landon kaj enpasxos en niajn limojn.

⁶And they shall waste the land of Asshur with the sword, and the land of Nimrod in the entrances thereof; and he shall deliver [us] from the Assyrian, when he cometh into our land, and when he treadeth within our borders.

⁷Kaj la restajxo de Jakob estos inter multe da popoloj kiel roso de la Eternulo, kiel pluvaj gutoj sur herbo; kaj li ne esperos je homo kaj ne fidos homidojn.

⁷And the remnant of Jacob shall be in the midst of many peoples as dew from Jehovah, as showers upon the grass, that tarrieth not for man, neither waiteth for the sons of men.

⁸Kaj la restajxo de Jakob estos inter la nacioj, meze de multaj popoloj, kiel leono inter la bestoj de la arbaro, kiel leonido meze de sxafaroj, kiu dispremas pasante, dissxiras, kaj neniu povas savi.

⁸And the remnant of Jacob shall be among the nations, in the midst of many peoples, as a lion among the beasts of the forest, as a young lion among the flocks of sheep: who, if he go through, treadeth down, and teareth in pieces, and there is none to deliver.

⁹Levigxos via mano super viaj kontrauxuloj, kaj cxiuj viaj malamikoj ekstermigxos.

⁹Thy hand shall be lifted up upon thine adversaries, and all thine enemies shall be cut off.

¹⁰En tiu tago, diras la Eternulo, Mi ekstermos viajn cxevalojn cxe vi kaj pereigos viajn cxarojn;

¹⁰And it shall come to pass in that day, saith Jehovah, that I will cut off thy horses out of the midst of thee, and I will destroy thy chariots.

¹¹Mi ekstermos la urbojn de via lando kaj detruos cxiujn viajn fortikajxojn;

¹¹And I will cut off the cities of thy land, and overthrow all thy strongholds.

¹²Mi ekstermos cxe vi la sorcxistojn, kaj vi ne plu havos auxguristojn;

¹²And I will cut off sorceries out of thy hand; and thou shalt have no soothsayers.

¹³Mi ekstermos el via mezo viajn idolojn kaj viajn statuojn, kaj vi ne plu adorklinigxos antaux la faritajxo de viaj manoj;

¹³Thy graven images also will I cut off, and thy statues out of the midst of thee; and thou shalt no more bow down to the work of thy hands.

¹⁴Mi elsxiros el via mezo viajn sanktajn stangojn kaj ekstermos viajn urbojn.

¹⁴And I will pluck up thine Asherahs out of the midst of thee, and I will destroy thy cities.

¹⁵Kaj en kolero kaj indigno Mi faros vengxon super la nacioj, kiuj ne volos obei.

¹⁵And I will execute vengeance in anger and in fury upon the nations, such as they have not heard of.
