¹Kaj Bileam diris al Balak:Konstruu al mi cxi tie sep altarojn, kaj pretigu al mi cxi tie sep bovidojn kaj sep virsxafojn.

¹And Balaam said to Balak, Build me here seven altars, and prepare me here seven bullocks and seven rams.

²Kaj Balak faris, kiel diris Bileam; kaj Balak kaj Bileam oferis po unu bovido kaj po unu virsxafo sur cxiu altaro.

²And Balak did as Balaam had said; and Balak and Balaam offered up a bullock and a ram on [each] altar.

³Kaj Bileam diris al Balak:Staru cxe via brulofero, kaj mi iros; eble la Eternulo venos al mi renkonte, kaj kion Li montros al mi, tion mi diros al vi. Kaj li iris sur la altajxon.

³And Balaam said to Balak, Stand by thy burnt-offering, and I will go; perhaps Jehovah will come to meet me; and whatever he shews me I will tell thee. And he went to a hill.

⁴Kaj Dio renkontigxis al Bileam, kaj cxi tiu diris al Li:La sep altarojn mi pretigis, kaj mi oferis po unu bovido kaj po unu virsxafo sur cxiu altaro.

⁴And God met Balaam; and [Balaam] said to him, I have disposed seven altars, and have offered up a bullock and a ram upon [each] altar.

⁵And Jehovah put a word in Balaam's mouth, and said, Return to Balak, and thus shalt thou speak.

⁶And he returned to him, and behold, he was standing by his burnt-offering, he, and all the princes of Moab.

⁷Kaj li komencis sian inspiritajxon, kaj diris: El Aram venigis min Balak, Regxo de Moab, el la montoj orientaj: Venu, malbenu al mi Jakobon, Kaj venu, malbondiru kontraux Izrael.

⁷And he took up his parable, and said, Balak the king of Moab hath brought me from Aram, from the mountains of the east: Come, curse me Jacob, and come, denounce Israel!

⁸Kiel mi tiun malbenos, kiun ne malbenas Dio? Kiel mi tiun malbondiros, kiun ne malbondiras la Eternulo?

⁸How shall I curse whom ùGod hath not cursed? or how shall I denounce whom Jehovah doth not denounce?

⁹De la supro de rokoj mi vidas lin, Kaj de altajxoj mi rigardas lin; Jen la popolo logxas aparte Kaj ne estas kalkulata inter la nacioj.

⁹For from the top of the rocks I see him, and from the hills I behold him: Lo, [it is] a people that shall dwell alone and shall not be reckoned among the nations.

¹⁰Kiu kalkulis la polvon de Jakob Kaj la nombron de kvarono de Izrael? Mortu mia animo per la morto de justuloj, Kaj mia fino estu simila al ilia!

¹⁰Who can count the dust of Jacob, and the number of the fourth part of Israel? Let my soul die the death of the righteous, and let my end be like his!

¹¹Tiam Balak diris al Bileam:Kion vi faris al mi? por malbeni miajn malamikojn mi prenis vin, kaj jen vi ilin benas.

¹¹And Balak said to Balaam, What hast thou done to me? I took thee to curse mine enemies, and behold, thou hast blessed them altogether.

¹²Kaj li respondis kaj diris:CXu ne tion, kion la Eternulo metas en mian busxon, mi devas precize diri?

¹²And he answered and said, Must I not take heed to speak that which Jehovah puts in my mouth?

¹³Kaj Balak diris al li:Venu do kun mi al alia loko, de kiu vi ilin vidos; nur ilian parton vi vidos, la tutan vi ilin ne vidos; kaj malbenu ilin al mi de tie.

¹³And Balak said to him, Come, I pray thee, with me to another place, from whence thou wilt see them; thou shalt see only the extremity of them and shalt not see them all, and curse me them from thence.

¹⁴Kaj li prenis lin sur la kampon de cxirkauxrigardantoj, sur la supron de Pisga, kaj li konstruis sep altarojn kaj oferis po unu bovido kaj unu virsxafo sur cxiu altaro.

¹⁴And he took him to the watchmen's field, to the top of Pisgah, and built seven altars, and offered up a bullock and a ram on [each] altar.

¹⁵Kaj li diris al Balak:Staru cxi tie cxe via brulofero, kaj mi iros renkonte tien.

¹⁵And [Balaam] said to Balak, Stand here by thy burnt-offering, and I will go to meet yonder.

¹⁶Kaj la Eternulo renkontigxis al Bileam kaj metis vorton en lian busxon, kaj diris:Reiru al Balak kaj parolu tiel.

¹⁶And Jehovah met Balaam, and put a word in his mouth, and said, Return to Balak, and thus shalt thou speak.

¹⁷Kaj li venis al li, kaj jen li staras cxe sia brulofero, kaj kun li la cxefoj de Moab. Kaj Balak diris al li:Kion parolis la Eternulo?

¹⁷And he came to him, and behold, he was standing by his burnt-offering, and the princes of Moab with him; and Balak said to him, What has Jehovah spoken?

¹⁸Kaj li komencis sian inspiritajxon, kaj diris: Levigxu, Balak, kaj auxskultu; Atentu min, filo de Cipor.

¹⁸Then he took up his parable and said, Rise up, Balak, and hear! hearken unto me, son of Zippor!

¹⁹Dio ne estas homo, ke Li mensogus, Kaj ne homido, ke Li pentus. CXu Li dirus kaj ne farus, Parolus kaj ne plenumus?

¹⁹ùGod is not a man, that he should lie; neither a son of man, that he should repent. Shall he say and not do? and shall he speak and not make it good?

²⁰Jen beno estas komisiita al mi; Li benas, kaj mi ne povas tion sxangxi.

²⁰Behold, I have received [mission] to bless; and he hath blessed, and I cannot reverse it.

²¹Li ne vidis pekon cxe Jakob, Kaj Li ne rimarkis malpiecon cxe Izrael; La Eternulo, lia Dio, estas kun li, Kaj regxa aklamado estas cxe li.

²¹He hath not beheld iniquity in Jacob, neither hath he seen wrong in Israel; Jehovah his God is with him, and the shout of a king is in his midst.

²²Dio, kiu elkondukis ilin el Egiptujo, Estas por ili kiel la forto de bubalo.

²²ùGod brought him out of Egypt; he hath as it were the strength of a buffalo.

²³CXar ne ekzistas sorcxado en Jakob, Nek auxgurado en Izrael; Siatempe estas dirate al Jakob kaj al Izrael, kion faras Dio.

²³For there is no enchantment against Jacob, neither is there any divination against Israel. At this time it shall be said of Jacob and of Israel, What hath ùGod wrought!

²⁴Jen la popolo starigxas kiel leonino Kaj levigxas kiel leono; GXi ne kusxigxos, antaux ol gxi mangxos rabakiron Kaj antaux ol gxi trinkos sangon de mortigitoj.

²⁴Lo, the people will rise up as a lioness, and lift himself up as a lion. He shall not lie down until he have eaten the prey and drunk the blood of the slain.

²⁵Kaj Balak diris al Bileam:Nek per malbeno malbenu ilin, nek per beno benu ilin.

²⁵And Balak said to Balaam, Neither curse them at all, nor bless them at all.

²⁶Sed Bileam respondis kaj diris al Balak:CXu mi ne diris al vi, ke cxion, kion diros la Eternulo, tion mi faros?

²⁶And Balaam answered and said to Balak, Did I not tell thee, saying, All that Jehovah shall speak, that will I do?

²⁷Kaj Balak diris al Bileam:Venu, mi prenos vin sur alian lokon; eble placxos al Dio, kaj vi malbenos ilin al mi de tie.

²⁷And Balak said to Balaam, Come, I pray thee, I will bring thee to another place; perhaps it will be right in the sight of God that thou curse me them from thence.

²⁸Kaj Balak prenis Bileamon sur la supron de Peor, kiu estas turnita al la dezerto.

²⁸And Balak brought Balaam to the top of Peor, which looks over the surface of the waste.
