¹Kaj unu el la sep angxeloj, havantaj la sep pelvojn, venis kaj parolis kun mi, dirante:Venu cxi tien, mi montros al vi la jugxon de la granda malcxastistino, kiu sidas sur multaj akvoj;

¹And one of the seven angels, which had the seven bowls, came and spoke with me, saying, Come here, I will shew thee the sentence of the great harlot who sits upon the many waters;

²kun kiu la regxoj de la tero malcxastis, kaj la logxantoj sur la tero ebriigxis per la vino de sxia malcxasteco.

²with whom the kings of the earth have committed fornication; and they that dwell on the earth have been made drunk with the wine of her fornication.

³Kaj li forportis min en la Spirito en dezerton; kaj mi vidis virinon, sidantan sur skarlata besto, plena de nomoj de blasfemo, havanta sep kapojn kaj dek kornojn.

³And he carried me away in spirit to a desert; and I saw a woman sitting upon a scarlet beast, full of names of blasphemy, having seven heads and ten horns.

⁴Kaj la virino estis vestita per purpuro kaj skarlato, kaj ornamita per oro kaj altvaloraj sxtonoj kaj perloj, kaj havis en sia mano oran pokalon, plenan de abomenindajxoj kaj la malpurajxoj de sxia malcxasteco,

⁴And the woman was clothed in purple and scarlet, and had ornaments of gold and precious stones and pearls, having a golden cup in her hand full of abominations and the unclean things of her fornication;

⁵kaj sur sia frunto nomon skribitan:MISTERO, BABEL LA GRANDA, LA PATRINO DE LA MALCXASTISTINOJ KAJ DE LA ABOMENINDAJXOJ DE LA TERO.

⁵and upon her forehead a name written, Mystery, great Babylon, the mother of the harlots, and of the abominations of the earth.

⁶Kaj mi vidis la virinon ebria de la sango de la sanktuloj, kaj de la sango de la martiroj de Jesuo. Kaj vidinte sxin, mi miris per granda miro.

⁶And I saw the woman drunk with the blood of the saints, and with the blood of the witnesses of Jesus. And I wondered, seeing her, with great wonder.

⁷Kaj la angxelo diris al mi:Kial vi miris? mi diros al vi la misteron de la virino, kaj de la besto, kiu portas sxin kaj kiu havas la sep kapojn kaj la dek kornojn.

⁷And the angel said to me, Why hast thou wondered? *I* will tell thee the mystery of the woman, and of the beast which carries her, which has the seven heads and the ten horns.

⁸La besto, kiun vi vidis, ekzistis, sed ne ekzistas, kaj venos supren el la abismo kaj iros en pereon. Kaj la logxantoj sur la tero, kies nomoj ne estas skribitaj en la libro de vivo jam de la fondo de la mondo, miros, kiam ili vidos la beston, ke gxi ekzistis kaj ne ekzistas, sed venos.

⁸The beast which thou sawest was, and is not, and is about to come up out of the abyss and go into destruction: and they who dwell on the earth, whose names are not written from the founding of the world in the book of life, shall wonder, seeing the beast, that it was, and is not, and shall be present.

⁹CXi tie estas la signifo, kiu havas sagxecon:la sep kapoj estas sep montoj, sur kiuj sidas la virino;

⁹Here is the mind that has wisdom: The seven heads are seven mountains, whereon the woman sits.

¹⁰kaj ili estas sep regxoj; la kvin jam falis, la unu estas, la alia ankoraux ne venis; kaj kiam li venos, li devos resti kelkan tempon.

¹⁰And there are seven kings: five have fallen, one is, the other has not yet come; and when he comes he must remain [only] a little while.

¹¹Kaj la besto, kiu ekzistis kaj ne ekzistas, estas ankaux oka, kaj estas el la sep; kaj gxi iras en pereon.

¹¹And the beast that was and is not, he also is an eighth, and is of the seven, and goes into destruction.

¹²Kaj la dek kornoj, kiujn vi vidis, estas dek regxoj, kiuj ankoraux ne ricevis regnon; sed ili ricevas auxtoritaton kiel regxoj, kun la besto, por unu horo.

¹²And the ten horns which thou sawest are ten kings, which have not yet received a kingdom, but receive authority as kings one hour with the beast.

¹³Tiuj havas unu intencon, kaj ili donas sian potencon kaj auxtoritaton al la besto.

¹³These have one mind, and give their power and authority to the beast.

¹⁴Tiuj militos kontraux la SXafido, kaj la SXafido venkos ilin, cxar li estas Sinjoro de sinjoroj, kaj Regxo de regxoj; kaj venkos tiuj, kiuj estas kun li, vokitaj kaj elektitaj kaj fidelaj.

¹⁴These shall make war with the Lamb, and the Lamb shall overcome them; for he is Lord of lords and King of kings: and they [that are] with him called, and chosen, and faithful.

¹⁵Kaj li diris al mi:La akvoj, kiujn vi vidis, kie sidas la malcxastistino, estas popoloj kaj homamasoj kaj nacioj kaj lingvoj.

¹⁵And he says to me, The waters which thou sawest, where the harlot sits, are peoples and multitudes and nations and tongues.

¹⁶Kaj la dek kornoj, kiujn vi vidis, kaj la besto, malamos la malcxastistinon, kaj faros sxin izolita kaj nuda, kaj mangxos sxian karnon, kaj forbruligos sxin per fajro.

¹⁶And the ten horns which thou sawest, and the beast, these shall hate the harlot, and shall make her desolate and naked, and shall eat her flesh, and shall burn her with fire;

¹⁷CXar Dio enmetis en ilian koron efektivigi Lian intencon, kaj efektivigi unu intencon, kaj doni sian regnon al la besto, gxis la vortoj de Dio plenumigxos.

¹⁷for God has given to their hearts to do his mind, and to act with one mind, and to give their kingdom to the beast until the words of God shall be fulfilled.

¹⁸Kaj la virino, kiun vi vidis, estas la granda urbo, kiu havas regxecon super la regxoj de la tero.

¹⁸And the woman which thou sawest is the great city, which has kingship over the kings of the earth.
