¹Sed parolu vi tion, kio konvenas al la sana doktrino:

¹But do *thou* speak the things that become sound teaching;

²ke la maljunuloj estu sobraj, seriozmienaj, prudentaj, sanaj en la fido, en amo en pacienco;

²that the elder men be sober, grave, discreet, sound in faith, in love, in patience;

³ke la maljunulinoj tiel same estu je sintenado respektemaj, ne kalumniantoj, nek sklavigitaj de troa vino, sed instruantaj la bonon;

³that the elder women in like manner be in deportment as becoming those who have to say to sacred things, not slanderers, not enslaved to much wine, teachers of what is right;

⁴por ke ili eduku la junulinojn ami siajn edzojn, ami siajn infanojn,

⁴that they may admonish the young women to be attached to [their] husbands, to be attached to [their] children,

⁵esti prudentaj, cxastaj, hejme laborantaj, bonfaremaj, submetigxemaj al siaj propraj edzoj, por ke la vorto de Dio ne estu blasfemita;

⁵discreet, chaste, diligent in home work, good, subject to their own husbands, that the word of God may not be evil spoken of.

⁶konsilu tiel same la junulojn, ke ili estu prudentaj;

⁶The younger men in like manner exhort to be discreet:

⁷pri cxio montrante vin ekzemplo de bonaj faroj, en via instruado montrante sincerecon, seriozecon,

⁷in all things affording thyself as a pattern of good works; in teaching uncorruptedness, gravity,

⁸paroladon sanan, nekondamneblan; por ke la kontrauxulo hontu, havante nenion malbonan diri kontraux ni.

⁸a sound word, not to be condemned; that he who is opposed may be ashamed, having no evil thing to say about us:

⁹Admonu sklavojn, ke ili estu submetigxemaj al siaj propraj sinjoroj kaj placxantaj al ili en cxio; ne kontrauxdiremaj,

⁹bondmen to be subject to their own masters, to make themselves acceptable in everything; not gainsaying;

¹⁰ne sxtelantaj, sed montrantaj cxian bonan fidelecon; por ke ili ornamu en cxio la doktrinon de Dio, nia Savanto.

¹⁰not robbing [their masters], but shewing all good fidelity, that they may adorn the teaching which [is] of our Saviour God in all things.

¹¹CXar jam aperis la graco de Dio, portante savon al cxiuj homoj,

¹¹For the grace of God which carries with it salvation for all men has appeared,

¹²instruante nin, ke foriginte malpiecon kaj lauxmondajn dezirojn, ni vivadu sobre, juste, kaj pie en la nuna mondo,

¹²teaching us that, having denied impiety and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, and justly, and piously in the present course of things,

¹³atendantaj la felicxan esperon kaj la malkasxon de la gloro de nia granda Dio kaj Savanto, Jesuo Kristo,

¹³awaiting the blessed hope and appearing of the glory of our great God and Saviour Jesus Christ;

¹⁴kiu donis sin por ni, por elacxeti nin el cxia maljusteco kaj por purigi al si popolon propran, fervoran pri bonaj faroj.

¹⁴who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all lawlessness, and purify to himself a peculiar people, zealous for good works.

¹⁵Tion parolu, kaj konsilu kaj riprocxu kun cxia auxtoritato. Neniu vin malestimu.

¹⁵These things speak, and exhort, and rebuke with all authority. Let no one despise thee.
