¹CXar vi mem scias, fratoj, ke nia alveno al vi ne montrigxis senfrukta;

¹For you yourselves know, brothers, our visit to you wasn’t in vain,

²sed suferinte kaj insultite en Filipi, kiel vi scias, ni kuragxigxis en nia Dio prediki al vi la evangelion de Dio meze de granda konflikto.

²but having suffered before and been shamefully treated, as you know, at Philippi, we grew bold in our God to tell you the Good News of God in much conflict.

³CXar nia instruado ne devenis de eraro, nek de malpureco, kaj gxi ne estas kun ruzo;

³For our exhortation is not of error, nor of uncleanness, nor in deception.

⁴sed kiel Dio nin aprobis, por konfidi al ni la evangelion, tiel ni parolas, por placxi ne al homoj, sed al Dio, kiu esploras niajn korojn.

⁴But even as we have been approved by God to be entrusted with the Good News, so we speak; not as pleasing men, but God, who tests our hearts.

⁵CXar, kiel vi scias, ni neniam trovigxis kun vortoj flataj, nek kun avideca preteksto (Dio estas atestanto),

⁵For neither were we at any time found using words of flattery, as you know, nor a cloak of covetousness (God is witness),

⁶nek celante homan gloron cxe vi aux cxe iu alia, kvankam ni povis esti al vi sxargxaj, kiel apostoloj de Kristo.

⁶nor seeking glory from men (neither from you nor from others), when we might have claimed authority as apostles of Christ.

⁷Sed ni estis mildaj inter vi, kiel vartistino, fleganta siajn proprajn infanojn;

⁷But we were gentle among you, like a nursing mother cherishes her own children.

⁸tiel same ni, sentante por vi koran inklinon, volonte tiam dividus kun vi, ne nur la evangelion de Dio, sed ankaux niajn proprajn animojn, cxar vi farigxis por ni tre karaj.

⁸Even so, affectionately longing for you, we were well pleased to impart to you, not the Good News of God only, but also our own souls, because you had become very dear to us.

⁹CXar vi memoras, fratoj, nian penadon kaj laboregon:nokte kaj tage laborante, por ke ni ne farigxu sxargxo por iu el vi, ni predikadis al vi la evangelion de Dio.

⁹For you remember, brothers, our labor and travail; for working night and day, that we might not burden any of you, we preached to you the Good News of God.

¹⁰Vi estas atestantoj, kaj Dio ankaux, kiel sankte kaj juste kaj senkulpe ni kondutis cxe vi kredantoj;

¹⁰You are witnesses with God, how holy, righteously, and blamelessly we behaved ourselves toward you who believe.

¹¹kiel vi scias, ke por cxiu el vi ni estis kiel patro cxe siaj infanoj, vin admonante kaj kuragxigante, kaj petegante,

¹¹As you know, we exhorted, comforted, and implored every one of you, as a father does his own children,

¹²ke vi iradu inde je Dio, kiu vin vokas en Sian regnon kaj gloron.

¹²to the end that you should walk worthily of God, who calls you into his own Kingdom and glory.

¹³Pro cxi tio ankaux ni sencxese dankas Dion, ke ricevinte per nia parolo la vorton de Dio, vi akceptis ne la homan vorton, sed, kiel gxi vere estas, la Dian vorton, kiu ankaux energias en vi, kiuj kredas.

¹³For this cause we also thank God without ceasing, that, when you received from us the word of the message of God, you accepted it not as the word of men, but, as it is in truth, the word of God, which also works in you who believe.

¹⁴CXar vi, fratoj, farigxis imitantoj de la eklezioj de Dio en Kristo Jesuo, kiuj estas en Judujo; cxar tiajn samajn suferojn vi ankaux spertis cxe viaj samlandanoj, kiajn tiuj cxe la Judoj,

¹⁴For you, brothers, became imitators of the assemblies of God which are in Judea in Christ Jesus; for you also suffered the same things from your own countrymen, even as they did from the Jews;

¹⁵kiuj mortigis la Sinjoron Jesuo kaj la profetojn, kaj nin elpelis, kaj ne placxas al Dio, kaj estas kontrauxuloj al cxiuj homoj;

¹⁵who killed both the Lord Jesus and their own prophets, and drove us out, and didn’t please God, and are contrary to all men;

¹⁶ili malhelpis al ni prediki al la nacianoj, por ke ili savigxu, por kompletigi cxiam la sumon de siaj pekoj; kaj sur ilin venis la kolero gxis ekstrema mezuro.

¹⁶forbidding us to speak to the Gentiles that they may be saved; to fill up their sins always. But wrath has come on them to the uttermost.

¹⁷Sed, fratoj, ni, senigite je vi dum kelka tempo, persone, ne kore, des pli fervore klopodis vidi vian vizagxon kun multa sopiro;

¹⁷But we, brothers, being bereaved of you for a short season, in presence, not in heart, tried even harder to see your face with great desire,

¹⁸cxar ni deziris veni al vi; mi, Pauxlo, tion deziris pli ol unufoje; sed malhelpis nin Satano.

¹⁸because we wanted to come to you—indeed, I, Paul, once and again—but Satan hindered us.

¹⁹CXar kio estas nia espero, aux gxojo, aux krono de singratulado? CXu gxi ja ne estas vi, antaux nia Sinjoro Jesuo Kristo cxe lia alveno?

¹⁹For what is our hope, or joy, or crown of rejoicing? Isn’t it even you, before our Lord Jesus TR adds “Christ” at his coming?

²⁰CXar vi estas nia gloro kaj nia gxojo.

²⁰For you are our glory and our joy.
