¹Kaj aperis al mi vorto de la Eternulo, dirante:

¹The word of Yahweh came to me, saying,

²Ho filo de homo, proponu enigmon kaj parabolon al la domo de Izrael;

²Son of man, put forth a riddle, and speak a parable to the house of Israel;

³kaj diru:Tiele diras la Sinjoro, la Eternulo:Granda aglo kun grandaj flugiloj kaj grandaj korpomembroj, plene kovrita de diverskoloraj plumoj, venis sur Lebanonon kaj prenis pinton de cedro;

³and say, Thus says the Lord Yahweh: A great eagle with great wings and long feathers, full of feathers, which had various colors, came to Lebanon, and took the top of the cedar:

⁴gxi desxiris gxian supran junan brancxeton kaj alportis gxin en la landon de komercado kaj kusxigis gxin en urbo de komercistoj.

⁴he cropped off the topmost of the young twigs of it, and carried it to a land of traffic; he set it in a city of merchants.

⁵GXi prenis iom el la semoj de la lando, plantis gxin sur prisemebla kampo, arangxis gxin apud abunda akvo, tre singarde.

⁵He took also of the seed of the land, and planted it in a fruitful soil; he placed it beside many waters; he set it as a willow tree.

⁶Kaj gxi elkreskis kaj farigxis vasta vinberkreskajxo kun malalta trunko; gxiaj flankobrancxoj fleksigxis al gxi malsupren, kaj gxiaj radikoj estis sub gxi; kaj gxi farigxis vinbertrunko kaj elkreskigis brancxojn kaj brancxetojn.

⁶It grew, and became a spreading vine of low stature, whose branches turned toward him, and its roots were under him: so it became a vine, and brought forth branches, and shot forth sprigs.

⁷Kaj estis alia granda aglo kun grandaj flugiloj kaj abundaj plumoj; kaj jen tiu vinbertrunko tiris sin per siaj radikoj al gxi kaj etendis al gxi siajn brancxojn, por ke gxi trinkigu gxin, de la bedoj, kie gxi estis plantita.

⁷There was also another great eagle with great wings and many feathers: and behold, this vine bent its roots toward him, and shot forth its branches toward him, from the beds of its plantation, that he might water it.

⁸Sur bona kampo, apud abunda akvo, gxi estis plantita, por ke gxi elkreskigu brancxojn kaj portu fruktojn kaj estu belega vinbertrunko.

⁸It was planted in a good soil by many waters, that it might bring forth branches, and that it might bear fruit, that it might be a goodly vine.

⁹Diru:Tiele diras la Sinjoro, la Eternulo:CXu gxi havos sukceson? oni ja elsxiros gxiajn radikojn, oni desxiros gxiajn fruktojn, kaj gxi velkos; cxiuj gxiaj elkreskintaj folioj velkos, kaj oni ne bezonos grandan forton kaj multon da homoj, por desxiri gxin de gxiaj radikoj.

⁹Say, Thus says the Lord Yahweh: Shall it prosper? shall he not pull up its roots, and cut off its fruit, that it may wither; that all its fresh springing leaves may wither? and not by a strong arm or many people can it be raised from its roots.

¹⁰Kaj jen, kvankam gxi estas plantita, cxu gxi havos sukceson? cxu gxi ne tute forvelkos, kiam la orienta vento gxin tusxos? gxi forvelkos sur la bedoj, kie gxi kreskis.

¹⁰Yes, behold, being planted, shall it prosper? shall it not utterly wither, when the east wind touches it? it shall wither in the beds where it grew.

¹¹Kaj aperis al mi vorto de la Eternulo, dirante:

¹¹Moreover the word of Yahweh came to me, saying,

¹²Diru do al la domo malobeema:CXu vi ne scias, kion tio signifas? Diru:Jen venis la regxo de Babel en Jerusalemon, kaj prenis gxian regxon kaj gxiajn eminentulojn kaj venigis ilin al si en Babelon;

¹²Say now to the rebellious house, Don’t you know what these things mean? tell them, Behold, the king of Babylon came to Jerusalem, and took its king, and its princes, and brought them to him to Babylon:

¹³kaj li prenis iun el la regxa idaro kaj faris kun li interligon kaj prenis de li jxuron, kaj la potenculojn de la lando li forprenis,

¹³and he took of the seed royal, and made a covenant with him; he also brought him under an oath, and took away the mighty of the land;

¹⁴por ke la regno estu humila kaj ne altigu sin, kaj por ke gxi konservu lian interligon kaj povu sin teni.

¹⁴that the kingdom might be base, that it might not lift itself up, but that by keeping his covenant it might stand.

¹⁵Sed tiu defalis de li, kaj sendis siajn senditojn en Egiptujon, por ke oni donu al li cxevalojn kaj multe da homoj. CXu li povas havi sukceson? cxu povas savigxi tiu, kiu tiel agas? cxu li savigxos, se li rompis la interligon?

¹⁵But he rebelled against him in sending his ambassadors into Egypt, that they might give him horses and many people. Shall he prosper? shall he escape who does such things? shall he break the covenant, and yet escape?

¹⁶Kiel Mi vivas, diras la Sinjoro, la Eternulo, sur la loko de tiu regxo, kiu faris lin regxo kaj antaux kiu li malsxatis sian jxuron kaj rompis lian interligon, cxe li, en Babel, li mortos.

¹⁶As I live, says the Lord Yahweh, surely in the place where the king dwells who made him king, whose oath he despised, and whose covenant he broke, even with him in the midst of Babylon he shall die.

¹⁷Kaj Faraono kun granda forto kaj multenombra anaro ne helpos al li en la milito, kiam estos sursxutitaj remparoj kaj estos konstruitaj bastionoj, por ekstermi multe da homoj.

¹⁷Neither shall Pharaoh with his mighty army and great company help him in the war, when they cast up mounds and build forts, to cut off many persons.

¹⁸Kaj cxar li malsxatis la jxuron kaj rompis la interligon, cxar li donis sian manon kaj tamen faris cxion cxi tion, tial li ne savigxos.

¹⁸For he has despised the oath by breaking the covenant; and behold, he had given his hand, and yet has done all these things; he shall not escape.

¹⁹Tial tiele diras la Sinjoro, la Eternulo:Kiel Mi vivas, Mian jxuron, kiun li malsxatis, kaj Mian interligon, kiun li rompis, Mi metos sur lian kapon.

¹⁹Therefore thus says the Lord Yahweh: As I live, surely my oath that he has despised, and my covenant that he has broken, I will even bring it on his own head.

²⁰Mi jxetos sur lin Mian reton, kaj li kaptigxos en Mian kaptilon; kaj Mi forkondukos lin en Babelon, kaj tie Mi faros sur li jugxon pro la krimo, kiun li faris kontraux Mi.

²⁰I will spread my net on him, and he shall be taken in my snare, and I will bring him to Babylon, and will enter into judgment with him there for his trespass that he has trespassed against me.

²¹Kaj cxiuj liaj forkurintoj el cxiuj liaj tacxmentoj falos de glavo, kaj la restintoj estos dispelitaj al cxiuj ventoj; kaj vi ekscios, ke Mi, la Eternulo, tion diris.

²¹All his fugitives in all his bands shall fall by the sword, and those who remain shall be scattered toward every wind: and you shall know that I, Yahweh, have spoken it.

²²Tiele diras la Sinjoro, la Eternulo:Mi mem prenos brancxon de alta cedro kaj metos gxin; el la supraj junaj brancxetoj Mi desxiros la plej delikatan, kaj Mi plantos gxin sur monto alta kaj eminenta.

²²Thus says the Lord Yahweh: I will also take of the lofty top of the cedar, and will set it; I will crop off from the topmost of its young twigs a tender one, and I will plant it on a high and lofty mountain:

²³Sur la alta monto de Izrael Mi gxin plantos, kaj gxi elkreskigos brancxojn kaj donos fruktojn kaj farigxos belega cedro; kaj logxos sub gxi cxiaspecaj birdoj, cxiaspecaj flugiluloj nestos en la ombro de gxiaj brancxoj.

²³in the mountain of the height of Israel will I plant it; and it shall bring forth boughs, and bear fruit, and be a goodly cedar: and under it shall dwell all birds of every wing; in the shade of its branches shall they dwell.

²⁴Kaj ekscios cxiuj arboj de la kampo, ke Mi, la Eternulo, malaltigas arbon altan kaj altigas arbon malaltan, ke Mi velkigas arbon sukoplenan kaj verdigas arbon velkintan; Mi, la Eternulo, tion diris, kaj Mi tion plenumos.

²⁴All the trees of the field shall know that I, Yahweh, have brought down the high tree, have exalted the low tree, have dried up the green tree, and have made the dry tree to flourish; I, Yahweh, have spoken and have done it.
