¹Kaj vi eksonigu funebran kanton pri la princoj de Izrael;

¹Moreover, take up a lamentation for the princes of Israel,

²kaj diru:Kial via patrino kiel leonino kusxis inter leonoj, inter leonidoj edukis siajn idojn?

²and say, What was your mother? A lioness: she couched among lions, in the midst of the young lions she nourished her cubs.

³SXi edukis unu el siaj idoj, gxi farigxis leonido, kaj gxi lernis dissxiri kaptajxon, gxi mangxis homojn.

³She brought up one of her cubs: he became a young lion, and he learned to catch the prey; he devoured men.

⁴Kaj auxdis pri gxi popoloj; gxi estas kaptita en ilian kavon, kaj ili forkondukis gxin en cxenoj en la landon Egiptan.

⁴The nations also heard of him; he was taken in their pit; and they brought him with hooks to the land of Egypt.

⁵Kiam sxi vidis, ke sxia espero malaperis, sxi prenis alian el siaj idoj kaj faris gxin leonido.

⁵Now when she saw that she had waited, and her hope was lost, then she took another of her cubs, and made him a young lion.

⁶Irante meze de leonoj, gxi farigxis leonido, lernis dissxiri kaptajxon, mangxis homojn.

⁶He went up and down among the lions; he became a young lion, and he learned to catch the prey; he devoured men.

⁷GXi difektis iliajn logxejojn, dezertigis iliajn urbojn; kaj la lando, kun cxio, kio estis en gxi, eksentis teruron antaux la vocxo de gxia blekegado.

⁷He knew their palaces, and laid waste their cities; and the land was desolate, and its fullness, because of the noise of his roaring.

⁸Tiam kolektigxis kontraux gxi la popoloj el la cxirkauxaj landoj kaj jxetis sur gxin sian reton, kaj gxi kaptigxis en ilian kavon.

⁸Then the nations set against him on every side from the provinces; and they spread their net over him; he was taken in their pit.

⁹Kaj oni metis gxin en cxenoj en kagxegon kaj forportis gxin al la regxo de Babel; kaj oni metis gxin en fortikigitan lokon, por ke oni ne plu auxdu gxian vocxon sur la montoj de Izrael.

⁹They put him in a cage with hooks, and brought him to the king of Babylon; they brought him into strongholds, that his voice should no more be heard on the mountains of Israel.

¹⁰Via patrino estis, simile al vi, kiel vinberkreskajxo, plantita apud akvo, fruktoricxa kaj brancxoricxa pro la abundo de akvo.

¹⁰Your mother was like a vine, in your blood, planted by the waters: it was fruitful and full of branches by reason of many waters.

¹¹Kaj elkreskis al gxi brancxoj tiel fortikaj, ke ili tauxgis kiel sceptroj de regantoj, kaj alte levigxis gxia trunko inter la brancxaro; kaj gxi estis bone videbla pro sia alteco kaj pro la multo de siaj brancxoj.

¹¹It had strong rods for the scepters of those who bore rule, and their stature was exalted among the thick boughs, and they were seen in their height with the multitude of their branches.

¹²Sed en kolero oni gxin elsxiris kaj jxetis sur la teron, kaj la orienta vento elsekigis gxiajn fruktojn; derompigxis kaj velksekigxis la fortikaj brancxoj, fajro ilin konsumis.

¹²But it was plucked up in fury, it was cast down to the ground, and the east wind dried up its fruit: its strong rods were broken off and withered; the fire consumed them.

¹³Kaj nun gxi estas transplantita en la dezerton, en landon sekan kaj senakvan.

¹³Now it is planted in the wilderness, in a dry and thirsty land.

¹⁴Kaj eliris fajro el unu el gxiaj brancxoj kaj forkonsumis gxiajn fruktojn; kaj jam ne restis sur gxi fortika brancxo por sceptro de regado. Funebra kanto tio estas, kaj gxi restos funebra kanto.

¹⁴Fire is gone out of the rods of its branches, it has devoured its fruit, so that there is in it no strong rod to be a scepter to rule. This is a lamentation, and shall be for a lamentation.
