¹Jen estas la vorto, kiun la profeto Jeremia diris al Baruhx, filo de Nerija, kiam cxi tiu skribis tiujn vortojn en libron sub diktado de Jeremia, en la kvara jaro de Jehojakim, filo de Josxija, regxo de Judujo:

¹The message that Jeremiah the prophet spoke to Baruch the son of Neriah, when he wrote these words in a book at the mouth of Jeremiah, in the fourth year of Jehoiakim the son of Josiah, king of Judah, saying,

²Tiele diras la Eternulo, Dio de Izrael, pri vi, ho Baruhx:

²Thus says Yahweh, the God of Israel, to you, Baruch:

³Vi diris:Ve al mi! cxar la Eternulo aldonis malgxojon al mia suferado; mi lacigxis de mia gxemado, kaj mi ne trovas ripozon.

³You said, Woe is me now! for Yahweh has added sorrow to my pain; I am weary with my groaning, and I find no rest.

⁴Tiele diru al li:Tiele diras la Eternulo:Jen tion, kion Mi konstruis, Mi detruas, kaj kion Mi plantis, tion Mi elradikigas, cxi tiun tutan Mian landon;

⁴You shall tell him, Thus says Yahweh: Behold, that which I have built will I break down, and that which I have planted I will pluck up; and this in the whole land.

⁵kaj vi postulas por vi grandajxon! Ne postulu; cxar jen Mi venigos malbonon sur cxiun karnon, diras la Eternulo, sed al vi Mi donos vian animon kiel akiron sur cxiuj lokoj, kien vi iros.

⁵Do you seek great things for yourself? Don’t seek them; for, behold, I will bring evil on all flesh, says Yahweh; but your life will I give to you for a prey in all places where you go.
