¹En la kvara jaro de la regxo Dario aperis vorto de la Eternulo al Zehxarja, en la kvara tago de la nauxa monato, tio estas de Kislev;

¹It happened in the fourth year of king Darius that the word of Yahweh came to Zechariah in the fourth day of the ninth month, the month of Chislev.

²kiam Bet-El sendis SXareceron kaj Regem-Melehxon kun iliaj akompanantoj, por pregxi antaux la Eternulo,

²The people of Bethel sent Sharezer and Regem Melech, and their men, to entreat Yahweh’s favor,

³kaj demandi la pastrojn, kiuj estis en la domo de la Eternulo Cebaot, kaj la profetojn, jene:CXu ni devas plori en la kvina monato, kaj fasti, kiel ni faradis jam dum multe da jaroj?

³and to speak to the priests of the house of Yahweh of Armies, and to the prophets, saying, “Should I weep in the fifth month, separating myself, as I have done these so many years?”

⁴Tiam aperis al mi vorto de la Eternulo Cebaot, dirante:

⁴Then the word of Yahweh of Armies came to me, saying,

⁵Diru al la tuta popolo de la lando kaj al la pastroj jene:Kiam vi fastis kaj funebris en la kvina monato kaj en la sepa dum la sepdek jaroj-cxu por Mi vi fastis? cxu por Mi?

⁵“Speak to all the people of the land, and to the priests, saying, ‘When you fasted and mourned in the fifth and in the seventh month for these seventy years, did you at all fast to me, really to me?

⁶Kaj kiam vi mangxas kaj trinkas, cxu ne por vi mem vi mangxas kaj trinkas?

⁶When you eat, and when you drink, don’t you eat for yourselves, and drink for yourselves?

⁷CXu la esenco ne estas tiuj vortoj, kiujn la Eternulo proklamis per la antauxaj profetoj, kiam Jerusalem estis prilogxata kaj bonstata, kaj la urboj cxirkaux gxi, la suda regiono kaj la malaltajxo, estis prilogxataj?

⁷Aren’t these the words which Yahweh proclaimed by the former prophets, when Jerusalem was inhabited and in prosperity, and its cities around her, and the South and the lowland were inhabited?’”

⁸Kaj aperis vorto de la Eternulo al Zehxarja, dirante:

⁸The word of Yahweh came to Zechariah, saying,

⁹Tiele diras la Eternulo Cebaot:Faru jugxon justan, cxiu estu bona kaj kompatema al sia frato;

⁹“Thus has Yahweh of Armies spoken, saying, ‘Execute true judgment, and show kindness and compassion every man to his brother.

¹⁰vidvinon, orfon, fremdulon, kaj malricxulon ne premu, kaj ne portu en via koro malbonajn intencojn kontraux via frato.

¹⁰Don’t oppress the widow, nor the fatherless, the foreigner, nor the poor; and let none of you devise evil against his brother in your heart.’

¹¹Sed ili ne volis atenti, ili deturnis de Mi sian flankon, kaj siajn orelojn ili sxtopis, por ne auxdi.

¹¹But they refused to listen, and turned their backs, and stopped their ears, that they might not hear.

¹²Sian koron ili faris kiel diamanta sxtono, por ne obei la instruon, kaj la vortojn, kiujn la Eternulo Cebaot sendis en Sia spirito per la antauxaj profetoj; pro tio aperis granda kolero de la Eternulo Cebaot.

¹²Yes, they made their hearts as hard as flint, lest they might hear the law, and the words which Yahweh of Armies had sent by his Spirit by the former prophets. Therefore great wrath came from Yahweh of Armies.

¹³Kaj cxar Li vokis, kaj ili ne auxskultis, tial ankaux Mi ne auxskultis, kiam ili vokis, diras la Eternulo Cebaot.

¹³It has come to pass that, as he called, and they refused to listen, so they will call, and I will not listen,” said Yahweh of Armies;

¹⁴Kaj Mi disblovis ilin inter cxiujn naciojn, kiujn ili ne konis, kaj la lando post ili dezertigxis tiel, ke neniu en gxi iris tien aux reen; tiamaniere la cxarman landon ili faris dezerto.

¹⁴“but I will scatter them with a whirlwind among all the nations which they have not known. Thus the land was desolate after them, so that no man passed through nor returned: for they made the pleasant land desolate.”
