1Vennad, ma tahan teile teatada, mida Jumala arm Makedoonia kogudustes on korda saatnud.
1But we make known to you, brethren, the grace of God bestowed in the assemblies of Macedonia;
2Rohked katsumused, millega neid on läbi proovitud, on andnud neile ohtrasti rõõmu ning nende põhjatu vaesus on kasvanud siira headuse rohkeks rikkuseks.
2that in a great trial of affliction the abundance of their joy and their deep poverty has abounded to the riches of their [free-hearted] liberality.
3Nad on ju andnud oma jõudu mööda - mina olen tunnistaja -, koguni üle oma jõu. Nad ise on vabatahtlikult
3For according to [their] power, I bear witness, and beyond [their] power, [they were] willing of their own accord,
4anunud meilt paljude palvetega, et neil võiks olla osa eesõigusest aidata pühasid.
4begging of us with much entreaty [to give effect to] the grace and fellowship of the service which [was to be rendered] to the saints.
5Ja nende annid ületasid kõik meie lootused, sest nad andsid Jumala tahtmise läbi iseendid, esmalt Issandale ja siis ka meile.
5And not according as we hoped, but they gave themselves first to the Lord, and to us by God's will.
6Nii me siis julgustasime Tiitust, et ta teie keskel viiks lõpule selle korjanduse, nii nagu ta seda kord on alustanud.
6So that we begged Titus that, according as he had before begun, so he would also complete as to you this grace also;
7Jah, nii nagu te olete ülevoolavad usult ja sõnalt ja tunnetuselt ja innukuselt ja meie armastuselt teie vastu, olge ülevoolavad ka selles armastustöös.
7but even as ye abound in every way, in faith, and word, and knowledge, and all diligence, and in love from you to us, that ye may abound in this grace also.
8Ma ei ütle seda käsuna, vaid proovides teiste innukuse varal ka teie armastuse ehtsust.
8I do not speak as commanding [it], but through the zeal of others, and proving the genuineness of your love.
9Te ju teate meie Issanda Jeesuse Kristuse armu, et tema, kuigi ta oli rikas, sai teie pärast vaeseks, et teie saaksite rikkaks tema vaesusest.
9For ye know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that for your sakes he, being rich, became poor, in order that *ye* by *his* poverty might be enriched.
10Ma annan selles asjas vaid nõu: see oleks ju teile kasulik, kui te nüüd lõpetaksite oma tegemise, mida te alustasite juba mullu. Tollal olite teie esimesed nii tegema kui tahtma.
10And I give [my] opinion in this, for this is profitable for you who began before, not only to do, but also to be willing, a year ago.
11Lõpetage nüüd oma tegemine, et nõnda nagu teil oli valmidust tahta, nõnda oleks seda ka lõpetamiseks oma võimalusi mööda.
11But now also complete the doing of it; so that as [there was] the readiness to be willing, so also to complete out of what ye have.
12Sest kui on olemas valmidust, siis on see meeldiv selles, mis kellelgi on, mitte selles, mida tal pole.
12For if the readiness be there, [a man is] accepted according to what he may have, not according to what he has not.
13Sest ei tohi olla nii, et mis teistele on kergenduseks, ahistaks teid, vaid võrdsuse saamiseks
13For [it is] not in order that there may be ease for others, and for you distress,
14olgu teie jõukus praegu nende puudusele toeks, et ka nende jõukus kunagi saaks toeks teie puudusele, nii et tekiks võrdsus,
14but [on the principle] of equality; in the present time your abundance for their lack, that their abundance may be for your lack, so that there should be equality.
15nagu on kirjutatud: 'Kellel oli palju, sellel ei olnud liiast, ja kellel oli pisut, sellel ei olnud vähe.'
15According as it is written, He who [gathered] much had no excess, and he who [gathered] little was nothing short.
16Aga tänu olgu Jumalale, kes andis Tiituse südamesse niisuguse hoole teie heaks,
16But thanks [be] to God, who gives the same diligent zeal for you in the heart of Titus.
17et ta võttis kuulda manitsust, aga olles veel hoolsam, on tulnud teie juurde vabatahtlikult.
17For he received indeed the entreaty, but, being full of zeal, he went of his own accord to you;
18Temaga koos me saatsime selle venna, keda on evangeeliumi kuulutamises kiidetud kõigis kogudustes,
18but we have sent with him the brother whose praise [is] in the glad tidings through all the assemblies;
19ja vähe sellest, ta on käte pealepanemisega ka valitud koguduste poolt meie reisikaaslaseks kohale viima seda andi, mida me kogume Issanda ülistuseks ja iseendi kinnitamiseks.
19and not only [so], but [is] also chosen by the assemblies as our fellow-traveller with this grace, ministered by us to the glory of the Lord himself, and [a witness of] our readiness;
20Me püüame teha nii, et keegi meid ei saaks laimata selle rohke anni pärast, mida me kogume.
20avoiding this, that any one should blame us in this abundance [which is] administered by us;
21Me ei püüa ju ainult seda, et kõik oleks hea Issanda silmis, vaid ka inimeste silmis.
21for we provide for things honest, not only before [the] Lord, but also before men.
22Me saatsime aga koos nendega veel oma venna, keda me mitmes asjas sageli oleme leidnud hoolsa olevat, kes aga nüüd on veel palju hoolsam suure usalduse pärast, mis tal on teie suhtes.
22And we have sent with them our brother whom we have often proved to be of diligent zeal in many things, and now more diligently zealous through the great confidence [he has] as to you.
23Olgu tegemist Tiitusega, kes on minu kaasosaline ja abiline teie juures, olgu meie vendadega, kes on koguduste saadikud, - nad on Kristuse kirkus!
23Whether as regards Titus, [he is] my companion and fellow-labourer in your behalf; or our brethren, [they are] deputed messengers of assemblies, Christ's glory.
24Näidake siis nendele oma armastust ja õigustage meie kiitlemist teie üle, et seda võiksid näha kõik kogudused!
24Shew therefore to them, before the assemblies, the proof of your love, and of our boasting about you.
