¹Sa ei tohi ohverdada Issandale, oma Jumalale, härga või lammast, kellel on viga küljes, midagi pahaloomulist, sest see on jäledus Issandale, su Jumalale!

¹Thou shalt not sacrifice to Jehovah thy God an ox or sheep wherein is a defect, or anything bad; for it is an abomination to Jehovah thy God.

²Kui su keskel mõnes su väravaist, mis Issand, su Jumal, sulle annab, leitakse mees või naine, kes teeb, mis kuri on Issanda, su Jumala silmis, rikkudes tema lepingut,

²If there be found in thy midst in any of thy gates which Jehovah thy God giveth thee, man or woman, that doeth what is evil in the sight of Jehovah thy God, in transgressing his covenant,

³and goeth and serveth other gods, and boweth down to them, either to the sun or to the moon, or to the whole host of heaven, which I have not commanded;

⁴and it be told thee, and thou hearest of it; then thou shalt make thorough inquiry, and if it be truth [and] the thing be certain, that this abomination hath been wrought in Israel,

⁵thou shalt bring forth that man or that woman, who committed that wicked thing, unto thy gates, the man or the woman, and shalt stone them with stones, that they die.

⁶At the mouth of two witnesses, or three witnesses, shall he that is to die be put to death: he shall not be put to death at the mouth of one witness.

⁷Tunnistajate käsi tõusku esimesena ta vastu, et teda surmata, ja seejärel kogu rahva käsi. Nõnda kõrvalda kurjus enese keskelt!

⁷The hands of the witnesses shall be first upon him to put him to death, and afterwards the hands of all the people; and thou shalt put evil away from thy midst.

⁸Kui sulle on mõni asi raske otsustada õigusemõistmises vere ja vere vahel, kohtuasja ja kohtuasja vahel, vägivallateo ja vägivallateo vahel tüliasjus su väravais, siis võta kätte ja mine sinna paika, mille Issand, su Jumal, valib,

⁹And thou shalt come unto the priests, the Levites, and unto the judge that shall be in those days, and inquire; and they shall declare unto thee the sentence of judgment;

¹⁰and thou shalt do according to the tenor of the word, which they of that place which Jehovah will choose shall declare unto thee; and thou shalt take heed to do according to all that they instruct thee:

¹¹Tee õpetuse järgi, mida nad sulle annavad, ja kohtuotsuse järgi, mille nad sulle kuulutavad, pead sa talitama, kaldumata paremale või vasakule otsusest, mida nad sulle kuulutavad!

¹¹according to the sentence of the law which they shall declare unto thee, and according to the judgment which they shall tell thee, thou shalt do: thou shalt not decline from the word which they shall declare unto thee, to the right hand, or the left.

¹²Aga mees, kes käitub ülbelt, kuulamata preestrit, kes seisab seal Issanda, su Jumala teenistuses, või kohtumõistjat, peab surema! Nõnda kõrvalda kurjus Iisraelist!

¹²And the man that shall act presumptuously, and not hearken unto the priest that standeth to serve there before Jehovah thy God, or unto the judge, that man shall die; and thou shalt put away evil from Israel.

¹³Ja kogu rahvas kuulgu seda ja kartku, et nad ei oleks enam nii ülbed!

¹³And all the people shall hear, and fear, and no more act presumptuously.

¹⁴Kui sa jõuad sellele maale, mille Issand, su Jumal, sulle annab, ja sa pärid selle ning elad seal ja ütled: 'Ma tahan tõsta enesele kuninga, nagu on kõigil mu ümberkaudseil rahvail',

¹⁴When thou comest unto the land which Jehovah thy God giveth thee, and shalt possess it, and shalt dwell therein, and shalt say, I will set a king over me, like all the nations that are about me;

¹⁵siis tõsta enesele kuningaks see, kelle Issand, su Jumal, valib! Sa pead tõstma enesele kuninga oma vendade hulgast, sa ei tohi panna enese üle võõrast meest, kes ei ole sinu vend!

¹⁵thou shalt only set him king over thee whom Jehovah thy God will choose: from among thy brethren shalt thou set a king over thee; thou mayest not set a foreigner over thee, who is not thy brother.

¹⁶Aga tema ärgu pidagu enesel palju hobuseid, ja tema ärgu viigu rahvast tagasi Egiptusesse, et hankida palju hobuseid, sest Issand on teile öelnud: 'Ärge minge enam tagasi seda teed!'

¹⁶Only he shall not multiply horses to himself, nor lead back the people to Egypt, to multiply horses; for Jehovah hath said unto you, Ye shall not return again any more that way.

¹⁷Ja tema ärgu võtku enesele palju naisi, et ta ei taganeks usust, ja tema ärgu kogugu enesele väga palju hõbedat ja kulda!

¹⁷Neither shall he multiply wives to himself, that his heart turn not away; neither shall he greatly multiply to himself silver and gold.

¹⁸Ja kui ta istub oma kuningriigi aujärjel, siis ta kirjutagu enesele raamatusse ärakiri sellest Seadusest, mis on leviitpreestrite käes.

¹⁸And it shall be, when he sitteth upon the throne of his kingdom, that he shall write for himself a copy of this law in a book out of that which is before the priests, the Levites;

¹⁹See olgu tema juures ja ta lugegu seda kõik oma elupäevad, et ta õpiks kartma Issandat, oma Jumalat, pidades kõiki selle Seaduse sõnu ja määrusi, tehes nende järgi,

¹⁹and it shall be with him, and he shall read therein all the days of his life; that he may learn to fear Jehovah his God, to keep all the words of this law and these statutes, to do them;

²⁰ilma et ta süda suurustleks oma vendade ees ja ilma et ta kalduks käsust paremale või vasakule, et pikendada päevi, mis ta on oma kuningriigi üle, tema ja ta pojad Iisraelis.

²⁰that his heart be not lifted up above his brethren, and that he turn not aside from the commandment, to the right hand, or to the left; that he may prolong his days in his kingdom, he, and his sons, in the midst of Israel.
