²at that time spoke Jehovah by Isaiah the son of Amoz, saying, Go and loose the sackcloth from off thy loins, and put off thy sandal from thy foot. And he did so, walking naked and barefoot.

³Siis ütles Issand: 'Otsekui mu sulane Jesaja on kolm aastat käinud alasti ja paljajalu, märgiks ja endeks Egiptusele ja Etioopiale,

³And Jehovah said, Like as my servant Isaiah hath walked naked and barefoot three years, a sign and a wonder concerning Egypt and concerning Ethiopia,

⁴nõnda ajab Assuri kuningas Egiptuse vange ja Etioopia asumiselesaadetuid, noori ja vanu, alasti ja paljajalu, istmik paljas, egiptlastele häbiks.

⁴so shall the king of Assyria lead away the captives of Egypt and the exiles of Ethiopia, young and old, naked and barefoot, and with buttocks uncovered, [to] the shame of Egypt.

⁵Siis nad ehmuvad ja häbenevad Etioopia pärast, kes oli nende lootus, ja Egiptuse pärast, kes oli nende uhkus.

⁵And they shall be terrified and ashamed of Ethiopia their confidence, and of Egypt their boast.

⁶And the inhabitants of this coast shall say in that day, Behold, such is our confidence, whither we fled for help to be delivered from the king of Assyria; and how shall we escape?
