¹Ja mulle tuli Issanda sõna; ta ütles:

¹The word of Yahweh came to me, saying,

²'Inimesepoeg, kas on siis viinapuu, metsapuude seas olev väät, parem kui kõik teised puud?

²Son of man, what is the vine tree more than any tree, the vine-branch which is among the trees of the forest?

³Kas võetakse sellest puud, et teha tarbeasja? Või kas võetakse sellest varn, et riputada sinna igasugu riistu?

³Shall wood be taken of it to make any work? or will men take a pin of it to hang any vessel thereon?

⁴Vaata, see antakse tuleroaks. Tuli põletab selle mõlemaid otsi ja selle keskpaik kõrvetatakse - kas see kõlbab veel millekski?

⁴Behold, it is cast into the fire for fuel; the fire has devoured both its ends, and its midst is burned: is it profitable for any work?

⁵Vaata, kui see oli rikkumata, siis ei saadud seda tarvitada millekski; veelgi vähem saab seda millekski tarvitada, kui tuli on seda põletanud ja kõrvetanud.

⁵Behold, when it was whole, it was meet for no work: how much less, when the fire has devoured it, and it is burned, shall it yet be meet for any work!

⁶Seepärast ütleb Issand Jumal nõnda: Nii nagu ma metsapuude seast olen andnud viinapuu tuleroaks, nõnda loovutan ma Jeruusalemma elanikud.

⁶Therefore thus says the Lord Yahweh: As the vine tree among the trees of the forest, which I have given to the fire for fuel, so will I give the inhabitants of Jerusalem.

⁷Ja ma pööran oma palge nende vastu: nad on pääsenud tulest, aga tuli sööb nad. Ja te saate tunda, et mina olen Issand, kui ma pööran oma palge teie vastu.

⁷I will set my face against them; they shall go forth from the fire, but the fire shall devour them; and you shall know that I am Yahweh, when I set my face against them.

⁸Ja ma teen maa lagedaks, sellepärast et nad on olnud täiesti truuduseta, ütleb Issand Jumal.'

⁸I will make the land desolate, because they have committed a trespass, says the Lord Yahweh.
