¹Weil wir nun diese Verheißungen haben, Geliebte, so wollen wir uns reinigen von aller Befleckung des Fleisches und des Geistes, zur Vollendung der Heiligung in Gottesfurcht.

¹⁰Denn das Gott gemäße Trauern bewirkt eine Buße zum Heil, die man nie zu bereuen hat, das Trauern der Welt aber bewirkt den Tod.

¹⁰E meinga ana hoki e ta te Atua pouri he ripeneta e ora ai, he ripeneta kahore ona haku: ko ta te pouri ia o te ao e mahi ai he mate.

¹¹Denn siehe, eben jenes Gott gemäße Trauern, welchen Fleiß hat es bei euch bewirkt, dazu Verantwortung, Entrüstung, Furcht, Verlangen, Eifer, Bestrafung! Ihr habt in jeder Hinsicht bewiesen, daß ihr rein seid in der Sache.

¹²Wenn ich euch also geschrieben habe, so geschah es nicht wegen des Beleidigers, auch nicht wegen des Beleidigten, sondern damit euer Eifer offenbar würde, den ihr für uns vor Gott bewiesen habt.

¹⁵und er ist jetzt noch viel mehr für euch eingenommen, da er an euer aller Gehorsam gedenkt, wie ihr ihn mit Furcht und Zittern aufgenommen habt.

¹⁶Ich bin froh, daß ich mich in allem auf euch verlassen kann.
