¹[] Οσοι ειναι υπο ζυγον δουλειας, ας νομιζωσι τους κυριους αυτων αξιους πασης τιμης, δια να μη βλασφημηται το ονομα του Θεου και η διδασκαλια.

¹Let as many as are bondservants under the yoke count their own masters worthy of all honor, that the name of God and the doctrine not be blasphemed.

²Οι δε εχοντες πιστους κυριους ας μη καταφρονωσιν αυτους, διοτι ειναι αδελφοι, αλλα προθυμοτερον ας δουλευωσι, διοτι ειναι πιστοι και αγαπητοι οι απολαμβανοντες την ευεργεσιαν. Ταυτα διδασκε και νουθετει.

²Those who have believing masters, let them not despise them, because they are brothers, but rather let them serve them, because those who partake of the benefit are believing and beloved. Teach and exhort these things.

³Εαν τις ετεροδιδασκαλη και δεν ακολουθη τους υγιαινοντας λογους του Κυριου ημων Ιησου Χριστου και την διδασκαλιαν την κατ' ευσεβειαν,

³If anyone teaches a different doctrine, and doesn’t consent to sound words, the words of our Lord Jesus Christ, and to the doctrine which is according to godliness,

⁴ειναι τετυφωμενος και δεν εξευρει ουδεν, αλλα νοσει περι συζητησεις και λογομαχιας, εκ των οποιων προερχεται φθονος, ερις, βλασφημιαι, υπονοιαι πονηραι,

⁴he is conceited, knowing nothing, but obsessed with arguments, disputes, and word battles, from which come envy, strife, insulting, evil suspicions,

⁵ματαιαι συνδιαλεξεις ανθρωπων διεφθαρμενων τον νουν και απεστερημενων της αληθειας, νομιζοντων την ευσεβειαν οτι ειναι πλουτισμος. Απομακρυνου απο των τοιουτων.

⁵constant friction of people of corrupt minds and destitute of the truth, who suppose that godliness is a means of gain. Withdraw yourself from such. NU omits “Withdraw yourself from such.”

⁶[] Μεγας δε πλουτισμος ειναι η ευσεβεια μετα αυταρκειας.

⁶But godliness with contentment is great gain.

⁷Διοτι δεν εφεραμεν ουδεν εις τον κοσμον, φανερον οτι ουδε δυναμεθα να εκφερωμεν τι·

⁷For we brought nothing into the world, and we certainly can’t carry anything out.

⁸εχοντες δε διατροφας και σκεπασματα, ας αρκωμεθα εις ταυτα.

⁸But having food and clothing, we will be content with that.

⁹Οσοι δε θελουσι να πλουτωσι πιπτουσιν εις πειρασμον και παγιδα και εις επιθυμιας πολλας ανοητους και βλαβερας, αιτινες βυθιζουσι τους ανθρωπους εις ολεθρον και απωλειαν.

⁹But those who are determined to be rich fall into a temptation and a snare and many foolish and harmful lusts, such as drown men in ruin and destruction.

¹⁰Διοτι ριζα παντων των κακων ειναι η φιλαργυρια, την οποιαν τινες ορεγομενοι απεπλανηθησαν απο της πιστεως και διεπερασαν εαυτους με οδυνας πολλας.

¹⁰For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. Some have been led astray from the faith in their greed, and have pierced themselves through with many sorrows.

¹¹Συ ομως, ω ανθρωπε του Θεου, ταυτα φευγε· ζητει δε δικαιοσυνην, ευσεβειαν, πιστιν, αγαπην, υπομονην, πραοτητα.

¹¹But you, man of God, flee these things, and follow after righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, and gentleness.

¹²Αγωνιζου τον καλον αγωνα της πιστεως· κρατει την αιωνιον ζωην, εις την οποιαν και προσεκληθης και ωμολογησας την καλην ομολογιαν ενωπιον πολλων μαρτυρων.

¹²Fight the good fight of faith. Lay hold of the eternal life to which you were called, and you confessed the good confession in the sight of many witnesses.

¹³[] Σε παραγγελλω ενωπιον του Θεου του ζωοποιουντος τα παντα και του Ιησου Χριστου του μαρτυρησαντος ενωπιον του Ποντιου Πιλατου την καλην ομολογιαν,

¹³I command you before God, who gives life to all things, and before Christ Jesus, who before Pontius Pilate testified the good confession,

¹⁴να φυλαξης την εντολην αμολυντον, αμεμπτον, μεχρι της επιφανειας του Κυριου ημων Ιησου Χριστου,

¹⁴that you keep the commandment without spot, blameless, until the appearing of our Lord Jesus Christ;

¹⁵την οποιαν εν τοις ωρισμενοις καιροις θελει δειξει ο μακαριος και μονος Δεσποτης, ο Βασιλευς των βασιλευοντων, και Κυριος των κυριευοντων,

¹⁵which in its own times he will show, who is the blessed and only Ruler, the King of kings, and Lord of lords;

¹⁶οστις μονος εχει την αθανασιαν, κατοικων φως απροσιτον, τον οποιον ουδεις των ανθρωπων ειδεν ουδε δυναται να ιδη· εις τον οποιον εστω τιμη και κρατος αιωνιον· αμην.

¹⁶who alone has immortality, dwelling in unapproachable light; whom no man has seen, nor can see: to whom be honor and eternal power. Amen.

¹⁷Εις τους πλουσιους του κοσμου τουτου παραγγελλε να μη υψηλοφρονωσι, μηδε να ελπιζωσιν επι την αδηλοτητα του πλουτου, αλλ' επι τον Θεον τον ζωντα, οστις διδει εις ημας πλουσιως παντα εις απολαυσιν,

¹⁷Charge those who are rich in this present world that they not be haughty, nor have their hope set on the uncertainty of riches, but on the living God, who richly provides us with everything to enjoy;

¹⁸να αγαθοεργωσι, να πλουτωσιν εις εργα καλα, να ηναι ευμεταδοτοι, κοινωνικοι,

¹⁸that they do good, that they be rich in good works, that they be ready to distribute, willing to communicate;

¹⁹θησαυριζοντες εις εαυτους θεμελιον καλον εις το μελλον, δια να απολαυσωσι την αιωνιον ζωην.

¹⁹laying up in store for themselves a good foundation against the time to come, that they may lay hold of eternal life.

²⁰Ω Τιμοθεε, την παρακαταθηκην φυλαξον, αποστρεφομενος τας βεβηλους ματαιολογιας και τας αντιλογιας της ψευδωνυμου γνωσεως,

²⁰Timothy, guard that which is committed to you, turning away from the empty chatter and oppositions of the knowledge which is falsely so called;

²¹την οποιαν τινες επαγγελλομενοι επλανηθησαν κατα την πιστιν. Η χαρις ειη μετα σου· αμην.

²¹which some professing have erred concerning the faith. Grace be with you. Amen.
