¹[] Δεν ειναι τωρα λοιπον ουδεμια κατακρισις εις τους εν Χριστω, Ιησου, τους μη περιπατουντας κατα την σαρκα, αλλα κατα το πνευμα.

¹There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who don’t walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit. NU omits “who don’t walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit”

²Διοτι ο νομος του Πνευματος της ζωης εν Χριστω Ιησου με ηλευθερωσεν απο του νομου της αμαρτιας και του θανατου.

²For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus made me free from the law of sin and of death.

³Επειδη το αδυνατον εις τον νομον, καθοτι ητο ανισχυρος δια της σαρκος, ο Θεος πεμψας τον εαυτου Υιον με ομοιωμα σαρκος αμαρτιας και περι αμαρτιας, κατεκρινε την αμαρτιαν εν τη σαρκι,

³For what the law couldn’t do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God did, sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh and for sin, he condemned sin in the flesh;

⁴δια να πληρωθη η δικαιοσυνη του νομου εις ημας τους μη περιπατουντας κατα την σαρκα, αλλα κατα το πνευμα·

⁴that the ordinance of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.

⁵διοτι οι ζωντες κατα την σαρκα τα της σαρκος φρονουσιν, οι δε κατα το πνευμα τα του πνευματος.

⁵For those who live according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who live according to the Spirit, the things of the Spirit.

⁶Επειδη το φρονημα της σαρκος ειναι θανατος, το δε φρονημα του πνευματος ζωη και ειρηνη·

⁶For the mind of the flesh is death, but the mind of the Spirit is life and peace;

⁷διοτι το φρονημα της σαρκος ειναι εχθρα εις τον Θεον· επειδη εις τον νομον του Θεου δεν υποτασσεται· αλλ' ουδε δυναται·

⁷because the mind of the flesh is hostile towards God; for it is not subject to God’s law, neither indeed can it be.

⁸οσοι δε ειναι της σαρκος δεν δυνανται να αρεσωσιν εις τον Θεον.

⁸Those who are in the flesh can’t please God.

⁹Σεις ομως δεν εισθε της σαρκος, αλλα του πνευματος, εαν το Πνευμα του Θεου κατοικη εν υμιν. Αλλ' εαν τις δεν εχη το Πνευμα του Χριστου, ουτος δεν ειναι αυτου.

⁹But you are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if it is so that the Spirit of God dwells in you. But if any man doesn’t have the Spirit of Christ, he is not his.

¹⁰[] Εαν δε ο Χριστος ηναι εν υμιν, το μεν σωμα ειναι νεκρον δια την αμαρτιαν, το δε πνευμα ζωη δια την δικαιοσυνην.

¹⁰If Christ is in you, the body is dead because of sin, but the spirit is alive because of righteousness.

¹¹Εαν δε κατοικη εν υμιν το Πνευμα του αναστησαντος τον Ιησουν εκ νεκρων, ο αναστησας τον Χριστον εκ νεκρων θελει ζωοποιησει και τα θνητα σωματα υμων δια του Πνευματος αυτου του κατοικουντος εν υμιν.

¹¹But if the Spirit of him who raised up Jesus from the dead dwells in you, he who raised up Christ Jesus from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through his Spirit who dwells in you.

¹²Αρα λοιπον, αδελφοι, ειμεθα χρεωσται ουχι εις την σαρκα, ωστε να ζωμεν κατα σαρκα·

¹²So then, brothers, we are debtors, not to the flesh, to live after the flesh.

¹³διοτι εαν ζητε κατα την σαρκα, μελλετε να αποθανητε· αλλ' εαν δια του Πνευματος θανατονητε τας πραξεις του σωματος, θελετε ζησει.

¹³For if you live after the flesh, you must die; but if by the Spirit you put to death the deeds of the body, you will live.

¹⁴Επειδη οσοι διοικουνται υπο του Πνευματος του Θεου, ουτοι ειναι υιοι του Θεου.

¹⁴For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are children of God.

¹⁵Διοτι δεν ελαβετε πνευμα δουλειας, δια να φοβησθε παλιν, αλλ' ελαβετε πνευμα υιοθεσιας, δια του οποιου κραζομεν· Αββα, ο Πατηρ.

¹⁵For you didn’t receive the spirit of bondage again to fear, but you received the Spirit of adoption, by whom we cry, “Abba Abba is an Aramaic word for father or daddy, often used affectionately and respectfully in prayer to our Father in heaven. ! Father!”

¹⁶Αυτο το Πνευμα συμμαρτυρει με το πνευμα ημων οτι ειμεθα τεκνα Θεου.

¹⁶The Spirit himself testifies with our spirit that we are children of God;

¹⁷[] Εαν δε τεκνα και κληρονομοι, κληρονομοι μεν Θεου, συγκληρονομοι δε Χριστου, εαν συμπασχωμεν, δια να γεινωμεν και συμμετοχοι της δοξης αυτου.

¹⁷and if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint heirs with Christ; if indeed we suffer with him, that we may also be glorified with him.

¹⁸Επειδη φρονω οτι τα παθηματα του παροντος καιρου δεν ειναι αξια να συγκριθωσι με την δοξαν την μελλουσαν να αποκαλυφθη εις ημας.

¹⁸For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which will be revealed toward us.

¹⁹Διοτι η μεγαλη προσδοκια της κτισεως προσμενει την φανερωσιν των υιων του Θεου.

¹⁹For the creation waits with eager expectation for the children of God to be revealed.

²⁰Επειδη η κτισις υπεταχθη εις την ματαιοτητα, ουχι εκουσιως, αλλα δια τον υποταξαντα αυτην,

²⁰For the creation was subjected to vanity, not of its own will, but because of him who subjected it, in hope

²¹επ' ελπιδι οτι και αυτη η κτισις θελει ελευθερωθη απο της δουλειας της φθορας και μεταβη εις την ελευθεριαν της δοξης των τεκνων του Θεου.

²¹that the creation itself also will be delivered from the bondage of decay into the liberty of the glory of the children of God.

²²Επειδη εξευρομεν οτι πασα η κτισις συστεναζει και συναγωνια εως του νυν·

²²For we know that the whole creation groans and travails in pain together until now.

²³και ουχι μονον αυτη, αλλα και αυτοι οιτινες εχομεν την απαρχην του Πνευματος, και ημεις αυτοι στεναζομεν εν εαυτοις περιμενοντες την υιοθεσιαν, την απολυτρωσιν του σωματος ημων.

²³Not only so, but ourselves also, who have the first fruits of the Spirit, even we ourselves groan within ourselves, waiting for adoption, the redemption of our body.

²⁴Διοτι με την ελπιδα εσωθημεν· ελπις δε ητις βλεπεται δεν ειναι ελπις· διοτι εκεινο, το οποιον βλεπει τις, δια τι και ελπιζει;

²⁴For we were saved in hope, but hope that is seen is not hope. For who hopes for that which he sees?

²⁵Εαν δε ελπιζωμεν εκεινο, το οποιον δεν βλεπομεν, δια της υπομονης περιμενομεν αυτο.

²⁵But if we hope for that which we don’t see, we wait for it with patience.

²⁶[] Ωσαυτως δε και το Πνευμα συμβοηθει εις τας ασθενειας ημων· επειδη το τι να προσευχηθωμεν ως πρεπει δεν εξευρομεν, αλλ' αυτο το Πνευμα ικετευει υπερ ημων δια στεναγμων αλαλητων·

²⁶In the same way, the Spirit also helps our weaknesses, for we don’t know how to pray as we ought. But the Spirit himself makes intercession for us with groanings which can’t be uttered.

²⁷ο δε ερευνων τας καρδιας εξευρει τι ειναι το φρονημα του Πνευματος, οτι κατα Θεον ικετευει υπερ των αγιων.

²⁷He who searches the hearts knows what is on the Spirit’s mind, because he makes intercession for the saints according to God.

²⁸Εξευρομεν δε οτι παντα συνεργουσι προς το αγαθον εις τους αγαπωντας τον Θεον, εις τους κεκλημενους κατα τον προορισμον αυτου·

²⁸We know that all things work together for good for those who love God, to those who are called according to his purpose.

²⁹[] διοτι οσους προεγνωρισε, τουτους και προωρισε συμμορφους της εικονος του Υιου αυτου, δια να ηναι αυτος πρωτοτοκος μεταξυ πολλων αδελφων·

²⁹For whom he foreknew, he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brothers. The word for “brothers” here and where context allows may also be correctly translated “brothers and sisters” or “siblings.”

³⁰οσους δε προωρισε, τουτους και εκαλεσε, και οσους εκαλεσε, τουτους και εδικαιωσε, και οσους εδικαιωσε, τουτους και εδοξασε.

³⁰Whom he predestined, those he also called. Whom he called, those he also justified. Whom he justified, those he also glorified.

³¹[] Τι λοιπον θελομεν ειπει προς ταυτα; Εαν ο Θεος ηναι υπερ ημων, τις θελει εισθαι καθ' ημων;

³¹What then shall we say about these things? If God is for us, who can be against us?

³²Επειδη οστις τον ιδιον εαυτου Υιον δεν εφεισθη, αλλα παρεδωκεν αυτον υπερ παντων ημων, πως και μετ' αυτου δεν θελει χαρισει εις ημας τα παντα;

³²He who didn’t spare his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how would he not also with him freely give us all things?

³³Τις θελει εγκαλεσει τους εκλεκτους του Θεου; Θεος ειναι ο δικαιων·

³³Who could bring a charge against God’s chosen ones? It is God who justifies.

³⁴τις θελει εισθαι ο κατακρινων; Χριστος ο αποθανων, μαλλον δε και αναστας, οστις και ειναι εν τη δεξια του Θεου, οστις και μεσιτευει υπερ ημων.

³⁴Who is he who condemns? It is Christ who died, yes rather, who was raised from the dead, who is at the right hand of God, who also makes intercession for us.

³⁵Τις θελει μας χωρισει απο της αγαπης του Χριστου; θλιψις η στενοχωρια η διωγμος η πεινα η γυμνοτης η κινδυνος η μαχαιρα;

³⁵Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Could oppression, or anguish, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword?

³⁶Καθως ειναι γεγραμμενον, Οτι ενεκα σου θανατουμεθα ολην την ημεραν. Ελογισθημεν ως προβατα σφαγης.

³⁶Even as it is written, “For your sake we are killed all day long. We were accounted as sheep for the slaughter.” Psalm 44:22

³⁷Αλλ' εις παντα ταυτα υπερνικωμεν δια του αγαπησαντος ημας.

³⁷No, in all these things, we are more than conquerors through him who loved us.

³⁸Επειδη ειμαι πεπεισμενος οτι ουτε θανατος ουτε ζωη ουτε αγγελοι ουτε αρχαι ουτε δυναμεις ουτε παροντα ουτε μελλοντα

³⁸For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers,

³⁹ουτε υψωμα ουτε βαθος ουτε αλλη τις κτισις θελει δυνηθη να χωριση ημας απο της αγαπης του Θεου της εν Χριστω Ιησου τω Κυριω ημων.

³⁹nor height, nor depth, nor any other created thing, will be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
