¹દેવે આપણને તેની દયાથી અમને આ કામ સોંપ્યું છે. તેથી અમે તેને છોડી દેતા નથી.

¹Therefore seeing we have this ministry, even as we obtained mercy, we don’t faint.

²પરંતુ અમે રહસ્યમય અને લજજાસ્પદ રીતોથી વિમુખ થયા છીએ. અમે કાવતરાંનો ઉપયોગ કરતા નથી, અને દેવના ઉપદેશમાં કશો ફેરફાર કરતા નથી. ના! અમે ફક્ત સત્યનો જ સ્પષ્ટતાથી ઉપદેશ કરીએ છીએ. અને આ રીતે અમે કોણ છીએ તે લોકોને દર્શાવીએ છીએ અને આ રીતે તેઓના હૃદયમાં તેઓ જાણે કે દેવ સમક્ષ અમે કેવા લોકો છીએ.

²But we have renounced the hidden things of shame, not walking in craftiness, nor handling the word of God deceitfully; but by the manifestation of the truth commending ourselves to every man’s conscience in the sight of God.

³સુવાર્તા જે અમે પ્રગટ કરીએ છીએ તે કદાચ ગૂઢ હોઈ શકે. પરંતુ જે લોકો ભટકી ગયા છે તેમને માટે જ તે ગૂઢ છે.

³Even if our Good News is veiled, it is veiled in those who perish;

⁴આ જગત (શેતાન) ના શાસકે જેઓ વિશ્વાસુ નથી તેઓનાં માનસને અંધ કરી દીધાં છે. તેઓ સુવાર્તાના પ્રકાશ (સત્ય) ને જોઈ શકતા નથી; એ સુવાર્તા જે ખ્રિસ્તના મહિમા વિષે છે. ખ્રિસ્ત એ એક છે, જે આબેહૂબ દેવ સમાન છે.

⁴in whom the god of this world has blinded the minds of the unbelieving, that the light of the Good News of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God, should not dawn on them.

⁵અમે અમારા વિષે ઉપદેશ નથી આપતા. પરંતુ અમે ઉપદેશ આપીએ છીએ કે ઈસુ ખ્રિસ્ત તે પ્રભુ છે; અને અમે ઉપદેશ આપીએ છીએ કે ખ્રિસ્ત થકી અમે તમારા સેવકો છીએ.

⁵For we don’t preach ourselves, but Christ Jesus as Lord, and ourselves as your servants for Jesus’ sake;

⁶દેવે એકવાર કહ્યું હતું, “અંધકારમાં જ્યોતિ પ્રગટશે!” અને આ એ જ દેવ છે જેનો પ્રકાશ આપણા હૃદયમાં ચમકે છે. ઈસુ ખ્રિસ્તના મોં પર દેવનો જે મહિમા છે તે વિષેના જ્ઞાનનું આપણને પ્રદાન કરીને દેવે આપણને આ જ્યોતિનું અનુદાન કર્યુ છે.

⁶seeing it is God who said, “Light will shine out of darkness,” Genesis 1:3 who has shone in our hearts, to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.

⁷આ ખજાનો અમને દેવ તરફથી મળ્યો છે. પરંતુ અમે તો માત્ર માટીનાં પાત્રો જેવા છીએ જે આ ખજાનાને ગ્રહણ કરે છે. આ બતાવે છે કે આ પરાક્રમની અધિકતા દેવ અર્પિત છે, અમારી નથી.

⁷But we have this treasure in clay vessels, that the exceeding greatness of the power may be of God, and not from ourselves.

⁸અમે ચારેબાજુ મુશ્કેલીઓથી ઘેરાયેલા છીએ. પરંતુ અમે હાર્યા નથી. ધણીવાર શું કરવું તે અમે જાણતા નથી. પરંતુ અમે હતાશ થતા નથી.

⁸We are pressed on every side, yet not crushed; perplexed, yet not to despair;

⁹ધણીવાર અમે પીડિત થયા છીએ, પરંતુ દેવે અમારો ત્યાગ નથી કર્યો. ધણીવાર અમે ધવાયા છીએ પરંતુ અમારો સર્વનાશ નથી થયો.

⁹pursued, yet not forsaken; struck down, yet not destroyed;

¹⁰અમારા શરીરમાં ઈસુનું મરણ છે. અમે આ મરણ સદા ઊંચકીને ફરીએ છીએ કે જેથી ઈસુનું જીવન પણ અમારા શરીરમાં પ્રતિબિંબિત થાય.

¹⁰always carrying in the body the putting to death of the Lord Jesus, that the life of Jesus may also be revealed in our body.

¹¹અમે જીવિત છીએ, પરંતુ ઈસુ માટે હંમેશા અમે મરણનો સામને કરીએ છીએ. અમારી સાથે આમ થયું કે જેથી અમારા ક્ષણભંગુર શરીરમાં ઈસુનું જીવન પ્રતિબિંબિત થાય.

¹¹For we who live are always delivered to death for Jesus’ sake, that the life also of Jesus may be revealed in our mortal flesh.

¹²મરણ અમારામાં કાર્યશીલ છે. પરંતુ જીવન તમારામાં કાર્યશીલ છે.

¹²So then death works in us, but life in you.

¹³શાસ્ત્રલેખમાં લખ્યું છે કે, “હું બોલું છું, કારણ કે મને વિશ્વાસ છે.” અમારી પાસે પણ વિશ્વાસનો આત્મા છે તેથી અમે બોલીએ છીએ.

¹³But having the same spirit of faith, according to that which is written, “I believed, and therefore I spoke.” Psalm 116:10 We also believe, and therefore also we speak;

¹⁴દેવે પ્રભુ ઈસુને મરણમાંથી ઊઠાડયો અને અમે જાણીએ છીએ કે દેવ અમને પણ ઈસુની સાથે ઊઠાડશે. દેવ અમને તમારી સાથે ભેગા કરશે, અને આપણે તેની સમક્ષ ઉપસ્થિત થઈશું.

¹⁴knowing that he who raised the Lord Jesus will raise us also with Jesus, and will present us with you.

¹⁵આ બધી વસ્તુ તમારા માટે છે અને તેથી દેવની કૃપા વધુ ને વધુ લોકોને આપવામાં આવી છે. આ વાત દેવના મહિમાને અર્થે વધુ ને વધુ આભારસ્તુતિ કરાવશે.

¹⁵For all things are for your sakes, that the grace, being multiplied through the many, may cause the thanksgiving to abound to the glory of God.

¹⁶તેથી અમે ક્યારેય પણ નિર્બળ થતા નથી. અમારો ભૌતિક દેહ વધારે વૃદ્ધ અને દુર્બળ થાય છે. પરંતુ અમારું આંતરિક મનુષ્યત્વ રોજ રોજ નવું થતું જાય છે.

¹⁶Therefore we don’t faint, but though our outward man is decaying, yet our inward man is renewed day by day.

¹⁷થોડા સમય માટે અત્યારે અમને સામાન્ય વિપત્તિઓ છે, પરંતુ આ વિપત્તિઓ અનંત મહિમા સદાય માટે પ્રાપ્ત કરવામાં અમને મદદરૂપ થાય છે. આ અનંત મહિમા મુશ્કેલીઓ કરતાં વધારે ઉન્નત છે.

¹⁷For our light affliction, which is for the moment, works for us more and more exceedingly an eternal weight of glory;

¹⁸અમે તે વસ્તુનો વિચાર કરીએ છીએ જે જોઈ શકાતી નથી જે વસ્તુ અમે જોઈએ છીએ તે ક્ષાણિક છે. અને જે વસ્તુ અમે જોઈ શકતા નથી તેનું સાતત્ય અનંત છે.

¹⁸while we don’t look at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen. For the things which are seen are temporal, but the things which are not seen are eternal.
