¹ભાઈઓ અને બહેનો, આપણા પ્રભુ ઈસુ ખ્રિસ્તના આવવા વિષે અમારે કઈક કહેવાનું છે. જ્યારે આપણે તેની (ઈસુની) સાથે ભેગા થઈશું તે સમય વિષે અમારે તમને કહેવું છે.

¹Now, brothers, concerning the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, and our gathering together to him, we ask you

²તમારા વિચારોમાં તમે જલ્દી બેચેન ના બની જતા કે ગભરાઈ ન જતા. જ્યારે તમે એમ સાંભળો કે પ્રભુના દિવસનું આગમન તો ક્યારનું થઈ યૂક્યું છે. કેટલીએક વ્યક્તિઓ પ્રબોધ કરતી વખતે કે સંદેશ આપતી વખતે આમ કહેશે. અથવા પત્રમાં તમે એમ પણ વાંચો કે કેટલાએક લોકો એમ દાવો કરે કે તમે કોઈ આત્મા, વચનથી કે, જાણે અમારા તરફથી આવ્યા છો.

²not to be quickly shaken in your mind, nor yet be troubled, either by spirit, or by word, or by letter as from us, saying that the day of Christ had come.

³કોઈ વ્યક્તિ કોઈ પણ રીતે તમને ભરમાવે નહિ. પ્રભુનો દિવસ જ્યાં સુધી ધર્મત્યાગ ન થાય ત્યાં સુધી આવશે નહિ. અને તે દિવસ જ્યાં સુધી વિનાશનો પુત્ર એટલે પાપનો માણસ પ્રગટ થશે નહિ. ત્યાં સુધી આવશે નહિ.

³Let no one deceive you in any way. For it will not be, unless the departure comes first, and the man of sin is revealed, the son of destruction,

⁴જે દેવ ગણાય છે અથવા જે પૂજ્ય મનાય છે. તે બધાની વિરુંદ્ધમાં પાપનો માણસ છે અને તે દુષ્ટ માણસ પોતાની જાતને દેવ તરીકે અને લોકો જેની ઉપાસના કરે છે તેની ઉપર તે પોતાની જાતને ઓળખાવે છે. અને તે દુષ્ટ માણસ તો દેવના મંદિરમાં જાય છે અને ત્યાં બેસે છે. અને પછી તે કહે છે કે તે દેવ છે.

⁴he who opposes and exalts himself against all that is called God or that is worshiped; so that he sits as God in the temple of God, setting himself up as God.

⁵મેં તમને અગાઉ જણાવેલું કે આવી ઘટનાઓ ઘટશે. યાદ છે?

⁵Don’t you remember that, when I was still with you, I told you these things?

⁶અને તમે જાણો છો કે હવે તે દુષ્ટ માણસને શું અટકાવી રહ્યું છે. અત્યારે તેને અટકાવવામાં આવ્યો છે જેથી કરીને યોગ્ય સમયે તે પ્રકટ (આવશે) થઈ શકશે.

⁶Now you know what is restraining him, to the end that he may be revealed in his own season.

⁷દુષ્ટતાની છૂપી તાકાત જગતમાં ક્યારની પ્રવર્તી રહી છે. પરંતુ એવી એક વ્યક્તિ છે કે જે દુષ્ટતાની છૂપી તાકાતને અટકાવી રહી છે. અને જ્યાં સુધી દુષ્ટ માણસને માર્ગમાંથી દૂર કરવામાં નહિ આવે ત્યાં સુધી તેને અટકાવવા સતત પ્રયત્નશીલ રહેશે.

⁷For the mystery of lawlessness already works. Only there is one who restrains now, until he is taken out of the way.

⁸પછી તે દુષ્ટ માણસ પ્રગટ થશે (આવશે). અને પ્રભુ ઈસુ તે દુષ્ટ માણસનો તેની ફૂંક્થી સંહાર કરશે. પ્રભુ ઈસુ પોતાના આગમનના પ્રભાવથી તે દુષ્ટ માણસનો નાશ કરશે.

⁸Then the lawless one will be revealed, whom the Lord will kill with the breath of his mouth, and destroy by the manifestation of his coming;

⁹ષ્ટ માણસ શેતાનની તાકાત વડે આવશે. તેની પાસે ઘણી તાકાત હશે. અને તે સર્વ પ્રકારનાં ખોટા પરાકમો, ચિહનો, તથા ચમત્કારો કરશે.

⁹even he whose coming is according to the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders,

¹⁰દુષ્ટ માણસ દરેક પ્રકારના પાપરુંપ કપટ સાથે પ્રયુક્તિઓમાં જે લોકો ભટકી ગયેલા છે તેમને મૂર્ખ બનાવવા માટે ઉપયોગ કરશે. તે લોકો ભટકી ગયા છે કારણ કે તેઓએ સત્યને ચાહવાનો ઈન્કાર કરી દીધો. (જો તેઓએ સત્યને ચાહ્યું હોત, તો તેઓનું તારણ થઈ શકયું હોત.)

¹⁰and with all deception of wickedness for those who are being lost, because they didn’t receive the love of the truth, that they might be saved.

¹¹પરંતુ તે લોકોએ તો સત્યને ચાહવાનો અસ્વીકાર કર્યો, તેથી દેવે તેઓની તરફ તેઓને સત્યથી વેગળા દોરી જાય તેવું કઈક શક્તિશાળી મોકલ્યું છે. દેવ તેઓની તરફ તે તાકાત મોકલે છે જેથી કરીને જે સત્ય નથી તેનો જ તેઓ વિશ્વાસ કરે.

¹¹Because of this, God sends them a working of error, that they should believe a lie;

¹²તેથી બધા લોકો કે જે સત્યમાં વિશ્વાસ ધરાવતા નથી તેઓ ગુનેગાર ગણાશે. તેઓએ સત્યમાં વિશ્વાસ કર્યો નહિ, અને દુષ્ટ કાર્યો કરવામાં તેઓએ આનંદ માણ્યો.

¹²that they all might be judged who didn’t believe the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness.

¹³ભાઈઓ અને બહેનો, પ્રભુ તમને પ્રેમ કરે છે. પ્રારંભથી જ દેવે તારણ કરવા માટે તમારી પસંદગી કરેલ છે. તેથી અમે હમેશા તમારા માટે દેવની સ્તુતિ કરીએ છીએ. આત્મા દ્વારા તમને પવિત્ર કરવાથી અને સત્ય વિશ્વાસ વડે તમારું તારણ થયું છે.

¹³But we are bound to always give thanks to God for you, brothers loved by the Lord, because God chose you from the beginning for salvation through sanctification of the Spirit and belief in the truth;

¹⁴તારણ પ્રાપ્ત કરવા માટે દેવે તમને તેડયા છે. અમે જે સુવાર્તાનો ઉપદેશ આપ્યા, તેના ઉપયોગથી તેણે (દેવે) તમને તેડયા છે. દેવે તમને તેડયા જેથી કરીને આપણા પ્રભુ ખ્રિસ્તના મહિમામાં તમે સહભાગી બની શકો.

¹⁴to which he called you through our Good News, for the obtaining of the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ.

¹⁵તેથી, ભાઈઓ અને બહેનો, દઢ ઊભા રહો અને જે શિક્ષણ અમે તમને આપ્યું છે તેમાં વિશ્વાસ કરવાનું ચાલુ રાખો. અમારી વાણી અને તમારા પરના અમારા પત્રો દ્વારા અમે તમને તે બાબતો શીખવી છે.

¹⁵So then, brothers, stand firm, and hold the traditions which you were taught by us, whether by word, or by letter.

¹⁶Now our Lord Jesus Christ himself, and God our Father, who loved us and gave us eternal comfort and good hope through grace,

¹⁷comfort your hearts and establish you in every good work and word.
