¹દેવના તથા પ્રભુ ઈસુ ખ્રિસ્તના સેવક યાકૂબની વિશ્વમાં ચારેબાજુએ વિખેરાઈ ગયેલાં પ્રભુના લોકોને શુભેચ્છા.

¹James, a servant of God and of the Lord Jesus Christ, to the twelve tribes which are in the Dispersion: Greetings.

²મારા ભાઈઓ અને બહેનો, તમને વિવિધ જાતનાં પરીક્ષણો થશે. પરંતુ તમારે ઘણા આનંદથી રહેવું.

²Count it all joy, my brothers The word for “brothers” here and where context allows may also be correctly translated “brothers and sisters” or “siblings.” , when you fall into various temptations,

³શા માટે? કારણ કે તમે એ જાણો છો કે તમારો વિશ્વાસ પરીક્ષણમાંથી સફળ થાય છે ત્યારે તમારી ધીરજ વધે છે.

³knowing that the testing of your faith produces endurance.

⁴અને અંત સુધી તમારી ધીરજને ચાલુ રહેવા દો.જેથી તમે પૂર્ણ બનો. તમારે જેની જરૂરીયાત છે તેની ઉણપ ન રહે.

⁴Let endurance have its perfect work, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing.

⁵પણ જો તમારામાથી કોઈને પણ ડાહપણની જરુંર હશે, અને તમે દેવ પાસે તે માટે માગણી કરશો, તો તે તમને આપશે. દેવ સર્વને ઉદારતાથી ઠપકો આપ્યા વિના ડાહપણ આપે છે.

⁵But if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach; and it will be given to him.

⁶પરંતુ દેવ પાસે તમે જે કઈ પણ માગો ત્યારે તમારે ખૂબજ વિશ્વાસથી અને તમારા મનમાં શંકા રાખ્યા વિના માગવું જોઈએે. દેવ વિષે જે કોઈ વ્યક્તિ શંકા કરે છે તે પવનના ઉછળતા તથા સમુદ્ધનાં ઊછળતા, અફળાતા મોંજા જેવો છે.

⁶But let him ask in faith, without any doubting, for he who doubts is like a wave of the sea, driven by the wind and tossed.

⁷For let that man not think that he will receive anything from the Lord.

⁸He is a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways.

⁹જો વિશ્વાસ રાખનાર ગરીબ હોય તો, તેણે ગર્વ લેવો જોઈએે કેમ કે દેવે તેને આત્મીક સમૃદ્ધિ આપી છે.

⁹But let the brother in humble circumstances glory in his high position;

¹⁰જો કોઈ વિશ્વાસુ માણસ શ્રીમંત હોય તો તેણે ગર્વ લેવો જોઈએે કે દેવે તેને બતાવ્યું છે કે તે આત્માથી ગરીબ છે. અને જંગલનાં ફૂલની જેમ તે મૃત્યુ પામશે.

¹⁰and the rich, in that he is made humble, because like the flower in the grass, he will pass away.

¹¹સૂર્ય ઊગે છે અને ગરમી વધતી જાય છે. તેની ગરમીથી છોડ સુકાઇ જાય છે. ફૂલો ખરી પડે છે. ફૂલ સુંદર હતું પણ તે કરમાઈ ગયું તેવું જ શ્રીમંત માણસ માટે છે. જ્યારે તે પોતાના ધંધા માટે યોજનાઓ કરતો હશે તે અરસામાં તો તે મૃત્યુ પામશે.

¹¹For the sun arises with the scorching wind, and withers the grass, and the flower in it falls, and the beauty of its appearance perishes. So also will the rich man fade away in his pursuits.

¹²જે વ્યક્તિ પરીક્ષણમાં પાર ઊતરે છે તે સુખી થાય છે. કારણ પરીક્ષણમાંથી પાર ઊતરનાર વ્યક્તિ દેવમાં વિશ્વાસ વ્યક્ત કરે છે. તેથી દેવ તેને બદલામાં અનંતજીવન આપશે. બધા લોકો જે દેવને ચાહે છે તે દરેકને દેવે આ વચન આપ્યું છે.

¹²Blessed is the man who endures temptation, for when he has been approved, he will receive the crown of life, which the Lord promised to those who love him.

¹³જો કોઈ ખરાબ કરવા લલચાય, તો તેણે એમ ન કહેવું જોઈએે કે, “દેવે મારું પરીક્ષણ કર્યુ છે.” કારણ કે દુષ્ટતાથી દેવનું કદાપિ પરીક્ષણ થતું નથી કારણ કે દેવ ખરાબ કરવા કોઈને પરીક્ષણમાં નાખતો નથી.

¹³Let no man say when he is tempted, “I am tempted by God,” for God can’t be tempted by evil, and he himself tempts no one.

¹⁴દુષ્ટ વાસનાઓ માણસને લલચાવે છે અને તેની પોતાની દુષ્ટ ઈચ્છાઓ તેને પરીક્ષણ તરફ ખેંચી જાય છે.

¹⁴But each one is tempted, when he is drawn away by his own lust, and enticed.

¹⁵દુષ્ટ ઈચ્છાઓ પાપ કરાવે છે. અને પાપ વધી જાય છે અને તે મોત નિપજાવે છે.

¹⁵Then the lust, when it has conceived, bears sin; and the sin, when it is full grown, brings forth death.

¹⁶તેથી મારા વહાલા ભાઈઓ અને બહેનો, આ વિશે છેતરાશો નહિ.

¹⁶Don’t be deceived, my beloved brothers.

¹⁷દરેક ઉત્તમ વસ્તુ દેવ પાસેથી જ આવે છે અને બધીજ પરિપૂર્ણ ભેટો પ્રભુ તરફથી આવે છે. સર્વ પ્રકાશોના પિતા પાસેથી આ બધીજ શુભ વસ્તુઓ (સૂરજ, ચંદ્ધ, તારા) આવે છે. દેવ કદી બદલાતો નથી. તે સદાય એ જ રહે છે.

¹⁷Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights, with whom can be no variation, nor turning shadow.

¹⁸દેવે સત્યના વચન દ્ધારા આપણને જીવન આપવા નિશ્ચય કર્યો છે. જગતમાં જે તેણે બનાવ્યું છે તેમાં આપણને એ બધામાં ખૂબજ મહત્વના બનાવ્યા છે.

¹⁸Of his own will he brought us forth by the word of truth, that we should be a kind of first fruits of his creatures.

¹⁹મારા વહાલા ભાઈઓ અને બહેનો, હંમેશા બોલવામાં ધીમા રહો. કાળજીપૂર્વક ધ્યાનથી સાંભળવા આતુર રહો. સહેલાઇથી ગુસ્સે ના થાઓ.

¹⁹So, then, my beloved brothers, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, and slow to anger;

²⁰દેવની ઈચ્છા પ્રમાણે સાચું જીવન જીવવામાં વ્યક્તિનો ગુસ્સો મદદ કરતો નથી.

²⁰for the anger of man doesn’t produce the righteousness of God.

²¹માટે તમારા જીવનમાં રહેલી બધાંજ પ્રકારની દુષ્ટતાઓ અને બધા જ પ્રકારના દુષ્કૃત્યોથી દૂર રહો. નમ્ર બનો અને તમારા હૃદયમાં રોપેલું દેવનું વચન ગ્રહણ કરો. તે જ દેવનું શિક્ષણ તમારા આત્માઓને તારવાને શક્તિમાન છે.

²¹Therefore, putting away all filthiness and overflowing of wickedness, receive with humility the implanted word, which is able to save your souls or, preserve your life. .

²²દેવના શિક્ષણ પ્રમાણે જ વર્તો; સંદેશો ફક્ત સાંભળવા માટે નથી પરંતુ અમલમાં મૂકવા માટે છે, તેથી તમે તમારી જાતને છેતરશો નહિ.

²²But be doers of the word, and not only hearers, deluding your own selves.

²³જે વ્યક્તિ ફક્ત સાંભળે છે પણ અમલમાં મૂકતો નથી, તે પોતાનું મુખ આરસીમા જોનારના જેવો છે.

²³For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man looking at his natural face in a mirror;

²⁴તે પોતાને જુએ છે, પછી ત્યાંથી ખસી જાય છે, એટલે તે પોતે કેવો હતો, એ તરત જ ભૂલી જાય છે.

²⁴for he sees himself, and goes away, and immediately forgets what kind of man he was.

²⁵પરંતુ ખરેખર સુખી માણસ તો એ વ્યક્તિ છે જે ધ્યાનપૂર્વક સંપૂર્ણ નિયમનો અભ્યાસ કરે છે કે જે લોકોને મુક્ત કરે છે. અને તે તેનો અભ્યાસ ચાલુ રાખે છે. તેણે જે સાંભળેલું છે તે ભૂલતો નથી. તે દેવનાં વચનોને સાંભળે છે. પછી તે દેવ જે શિક્ષણ આપે છે તેને અનુસરે છે. અને આમ કરવાથી તે તેની જાતને સુખી બનાવે છે.

²⁵But he who looks into the perfect law of freedom, and continues, not being a hearer who forgets, but a doer of the work, this man will be blessed in what he does.

²⁶જે વ્યક્તિ પોતાને ધાર્મિક (સારો) માને છે પણ જો પોતાની જીભ પર કાબુ રાખતો નથી તો તે પોતાને છેતરે છે. અને તેની ધાર્મિકતાને નિરર્થક બનાવે છે.

²⁶If anyone among you thinks himself to be religious while he doesn’t bridle his tongue, but deceives his heart, this man’s religion is worthless.

²⁷દેવની દ્દષ્ટિમાં ધાર્મિક એ છે કે જે અનાથ અને વિધવાઓની તેમના દુ:ખના સમયે મુલાકાત લે છે તથા જગતની દુષ્ટતાથી દૂર રહી પોતાની જાતને નિષ્કલંક રાખી, દેવની ઈચ્છાને આધીન રહે છે.

²⁷Pure religion and undefiled before our God and Father is this: to visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep oneself unstained by the world.
