¹ઘણા હજારો લોકો ભેગા થયા. ત્યાં એટલા બધા લોકો હતા કે તેઓ એકબીજા પર પડાપડી કરતા હતા. ઈસુ લોકોને બોલ્યો તે પહેલા તેના શિષ્યોને તેણે કહ્યું, “ફરોશીઓના ખમીરથી સાવધ રહો. હું સમજું છું કે તેઓ ઢોંગી છે.

¹Meanwhile, when a multitude of many thousands had gathered together, so much so that they trampled on each other, he began to tell his disciples first of all, “Beware of the yeast of the Pharisees, which is hypocrisy.

²જે કંઈ છુપાવી રાખેલું છે તે બતાવશે. જે કંઈ ગુપ્ત છે તે પ્રગટ કરાશે.

² But there is nothing covered up, that will not be revealed, nor hidden, that will not be known.

³તમે જે કંઈ અંધારામાં કહો છો તે અજવાળામાં કહેવાશે, અને ગુપ્ત ઓરડામાં તમે જે કંઈ કાનમાં કહ્યું હશે તે ઘરના ધાબા પરથી પોકારાશે.”

³ Therefore whatever you have said in the darkness will be heard in the light. What you have spoken in the ear in the inner rooms will be proclaimed on the housetops.

⁴પછી ઈસુએ લોકોને કહ્યું, “હું તમને કહું છું, મારા મિત્રો, લોકોથી ડરો નહિ, લોકો શરીરને મારી શકે છે, પણ તે પછી તેઓ તમને ઇજા કરતાં વધારે કઈ કરી શકશે નહિ.

⁴ “I tell you, my friends, don’t be afraid of those who kill the body, and after that have no more that they can do.

⁵હું તમને એકથી ડરવાનું બતાવીશ. તમારે તેનાથી ડરવું જોઈએ જેનામાં તમને મારી નાખવાનો અને પછી તમને નરકમાં નાખવાનો અધિકાર છો. હા, તે એક છે જેનાથી તાર ડરવું જોઈએ.

⁵ But I will warn you whom you should fear. Fear him, who after he has killed, has power to cast into Gehenna. or, Hell Yes, I tell you, fear him.

⁶“જ્યારે પક્ષીઓ વેચાય છે, પાંચ નાના પક્ષીઓની કિંમત માત્ર બે પૈસા છે. પણ દેવ તેમાંના કોઈને ભૂલી શકતો નથી.

⁶ “Aren’t five sparrows sold for two assaria coins An assarion was a small copper coin worth about an hour’s wages for an agricultural laborer. ? Not one of them is forgotten by God.

⁷હા, દેવને એ પણ ખબર છે કે તમારા માથાંના વાળ કેટલા છે. ડરશો નહિ. તમે ઘણા પક્ષીઓ કરતાં વધારે મૂલ્યવાન છો.

⁷ But the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Therefore don’t be afraid. You are of more value than many sparrows.

⁸હું તમને કહું છું, જો કોઈ વ્યક્તિ બીજા લોકો આગળ ઊભો રહે અને કહે કે તેને મારામાં વિશ્વાસ છે. પછી હું કહીશ કે તે વ્યક્તિ માકી છે. હું આ દેવના દૂતોની આગળ કહીશ.

⁸ “I tell you, everyone who confesses me before men, him will the Son of Man also confess before the angels of God;

⁹પણ જો કોઈ વ્યક્તિ લોકો આગળ ઊભો રહીને જાહેર કરે કે તેને મારામાં વિશ્વાસ નથી પછી હું કહીશ કે તે વ્યક્તિ મારી નથી. હું આ દેવના દૂતોની આગળ કહીશ.

⁹ but he who denies me in the presence of men will be denied in the presence of the angels of God.

¹⁰“કોઈ વ્યક્તિ માણસના દીકરાની વિરૂદ્ધ કંઈક કહે છે, તો તેને માફી આપી શકાય છે. પણ કોઈ વ્યક્તિ પવિત્ર આત્માની વિરૂદ્ધ કંઈ વાત કહેશે તો તેને માફ કરી શકાશે નહિ.

¹⁰ Everyone who speaks a word against the Son of Man will be forgiven, but those who blaspheme against the Holy Spirit will not be forgiven.

¹¹“જ્યારે લોકો તમને સભાસ્થાનોમાં અધિપતિઓ અને અધિકારીઓની આગળ લઈ જાય ત્યારે શું કહેવું તેની ચિંતા ન કરો અને તમારો બચાવ કેવી રીતે કરવો તેની પણ ચિંતા ન કરો.

¹¹ When they bring you before the synagogues, the rulers, and the authorities, don’t be anxious how or what you will answer, or what you will say;

¹²તે વખતે પવિત્ર આત્મા તમારે શું કહેવું જોઈએ તે શીખવશે.”

¹² for the Holy Spirit will teach you in that same hour what you must say.”

¹³ટોળામાંના એક માણસે ઈસુને કહ્યું, “ગુરુંજી, હમણા જ અમારા પિતાનું મૃત્યુ થયું છે. મારા ભાઈને કહે કે અમારા પિતાની માલિકીની વસ્તુઓનો ભાગ મને આપે.”

¹³One of the multitude said to him, “Teacher, tell my brother to divide the inheritance with me.”

¹⁴પણ ઈસુએ તેઓને કહ્યું, “કોણે કહ્યું કે હું તમારો ન્યાયાધીશ થઈશ કે તમારા પિતાની વસ્તુઓ તમારા બંને વચ્ચે વહેંચવાનો નિર્ણય કરીશ?

¹⁴But he said to him, “Man, who made me a judge or an arbitrator over you?”

¹⁵પછી ઈસુએ તેઓને કહ્યું, “સાવધાન રહો અને બધાજ પ્રકારના સ્વાર્થીપણા સામે જાગ્રત રહો. વ્યક્તિ તેની માલિકીની ઘણી વસ્તુઓમાંથી જીવન પ્રાપ્ત કરી શકતો નથી.”

¹⁵He said to them, “Beware! Keep yourselves from covetousness, for a man’s life doesn’t consist of the abundance of the things which he possesses.”

¹⁶પછી ઈસુએ આ વાર્તાનો ઉપયોગ કર્યો: “એક ધનવાન માણસ હતો જેની પાસે કેટલીક જમીન હતી. તેની જમીનમાં ઘણી સારી ઉપજ થઈ.

¹⁶He spoke a parable to them, saying, “The ground of a certain rich man brought forth abundantly.

¹⁷તે ધનવાન માણસે તેની જાતે મનમાં વિચાર કર્યો, ‘મારે શું કરવું? મારી પાસે ઉપજ ભરી મૂકવાની જગ્યા નથી.’

¹⁷ He reasoned within himself, saying, ‘What will I do, because I don’t have room to store my crops?’

¹⁸“પછી પૈસાદાર માણસે કહ્યું; ‘હું જાણું છું કે હું શું કરીશ.’ હું મારી વખારોને પાડી નાંખીને વધારે મોટી વખારો બાંધીશ! હું ત્યાં મારા બધાજ ઘઉં અને સારી વસ્તુઓ એક સાથે નવી વખારમાં મૂકીશ.

¹⁸ He said, ‘This is what I will do. I will pull down my barns, and build bigger ones, and there I will store all my grain and my goods.

¹⁹પછી હું મારી જાતને કહીશ, ‘મારી પાસે ઘણી સારી વસ્તુઓનો સંગ્રહ છે, મેં ઘણાં વરસ માટે પૂરતું બચાવ્યું છે આરામ લે, ખા, પી અને જીવનમાં આનંદ કર!’

¹⁹ I will tell my soul, “Soul, you have many goods laid up for many years. Take your ease, eat, drink, be merry.”’

²⁰“પરંતુ દેવે તે માણસને કહ્યું, “અરે! મૂર્ખ માણસ આજે રાત્રે તારું મૃત્યુ થશે. તેથી તેં તારી જાત માટે તૈયાર કરેલી વસ્તુઓનું શું? હવે તે વસ્તુઓ કોની થશે?”

²⁰ “But God said to him, ‘You foolish one, tonight your soul is required of you. The things which you have prepared—whose will they be?’

²¹“જે વ્યક્તિ તેની જાત માટે જ ફક્ત વસ્તુઓ બચાવે છે તેનું આમ જ થશે. દેવ સમક્ષ તે વ્યક્તિ ધનવાન નથી.”

²¹ So is he who lays up treasure for himself, and is not rich toward God.”

²²ઈસુએ તેના શિષ્યોને કહ્યું, “તેથી હું તમને કહું છું કે, તમારે જીવવા માટે જે ખોરાક જોઈએ તેની ચિંતા કરશો નહિ, તમારા શરીર માટે જરૂરી કપડાંની તમે ચિંતા કરશો નહિ.

²²He said to his disciples, “Therefore I tell you, don’t be anxious for your life, what you will eat, nor yet for your body, what you will wear.

²³જીવન ખોરાક કરતા વધારે મહત્વનું છે અને શરીર કપડાં કરતા વધારે મહત્વનું છે.

²³ Life is more than food, and the body is more than clothing.

²⁴પક્ષીઓ તરફ જુઓ, તેઓ વાવતા નથી કે લણતાં નથી. પક્ષીઓ વખારમાં કે ઘરમાં અનાજ બચાવતા નથી. પરંતુ દેવ તેમની સંભાળ રાખે છે. અને તમે તો પક્ષીઓ કરતાં ઘણા મૂલ્યવાન છો.

²⁴ Consider the ravens: they don’t sow, they don’t reap, they have no warehouse or barn, and God feeds them. How much more valuable are you than birds!

²⁵તમારામાંથી કોઈ પણ તેના અંગે ચિંતાઓ કરીને તમારા જીવનમાં થોડા સમયનો પણ વધારો કરી શકતો નથી.

²⁵ Which of you by being anxious can add a cubit to his height?

²⁶જો તમે નાની બાબત પણ કરી શકતા નથી તો પછી બીજી બાબતોની ચિંતા શા માટે કરો છો?

²⁶ If then you aren’t able to do even the least things, why are you anxious about the rest?

²⁷“જંગલી ફૂલોને જુઓ, તેઓ કેવી રીતે ઊગે છે. તેઓ તેમની જાત માટે નથી કપડાં બનાવતા કે નથી કંઈ કામ કરતાં. પણ હું તમને કહું છું કે મહાન ધનવાન રાજા સુલેમાન પણ સુંદર રીતે શણગારાએલાં ફૂલોમાંના એક જેવો પણ પહેરેલો ન હતો.

²⁷ Consider the lilies, how they grow. They don’t toil, neither do they spin; yet I tell you, even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these.

²⁸એ પ્રમાણે દેવ ખેતરના ઘાસને સુંદર વસ્ત્રો પહેરાવે છે તેમ ઘાસ આજે જીવે છે. પણ આવતીકાલે તેને બાળી નાખવા આગમાં નંખાય છે. તેથી તું જાણ કે દેવ તને વધારે સારું પહેરાવશે. તેથી આવો અલ્પવિશ્વાસ ન રાખો.

²⁸ But if this is how God clothes the grass in the field, which today exists, and tomorrow is cast into the oven, how much more will he clothe you, O you of little faith?

²⁹“તેથી હંમેશા તમે શું ખાશો અને શું પીશો તેના વિષે વિચાર ન કરો. તેના વિષે ચિંતા ન કરો.

²⁹ Don’t seek what you will eat or what you will drink; neither be anxious.

³⁰જગતના બધા લોકો તે વસ્તુઓ મેળવવા પ્રયત્ન કરે છે. તમારો પિતા જાણે છે કે તમારે તે વસ્તુઓની જરૂર છે.

³⁰ For the nations of the world seek after all of these things, but your Father knows that you need these things.

³¹જે વસ્તુઓ તમને જોઈએ છે તે દેવનું રાજ્ય છે. પછી આ બધી જરૂરી વસ્તુઓ તમને આપવામાં આવશે.

³¹ But seek God’s Kingdom, and all these things will be added to you.

³²“ઓ નાની ટોળી, તમે ડરશો નહિ, તમારા પિતા તમને રાજ્ય આપવા ઈચ્છે છે.

³² Don’t be afraid, little flock, for it is your Father’s good pleasure to give you the Kingdom.

³³તમારી પાસે જે વસ્તુઓ છે તે વેચી દો અને જેઓને જરૂર છે તેઓને તે પૈસા આપી દો. આ જગતની સંપત્તિ સદા રહેતી નથી. તેથી જે સંપત્તિ સતત રહે તે મેળવો. તમારી જાત માટે આકાશમાં ખજાનો પ્રાપ્ત કરો. તે ખજાનો સદા રહેશે. આકાશમાંના ખજાનાને ચોરો ચોરી શકતા નથી, અને કીડા તેનો નાશ કરી શકતા નથી.

³³ Sell that which you have, and give gifts to the needy. Make for yourselves purses which don’t grow old, a treasure in the heavens that doesn’t fail, where no thief approaches, neither moth destroys.

³⁴જ્યાં તમારો ખજાનો હશે ત્યાં જ તમારુંચિત્ત રહેશે.

³⁴ For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.

³⁵“તૈયાર થાઓ, પૂર્ણ પોષાક પહેરો, તમારા દીવા સળગતા રાખો.

³⁵ “Let your waist be dressed and your lamps burning.

³⁶લગ્ન સમારંભમાંથી ઘેર પાછા આવતા ધણીની રાહ જોતાં સેવકો જેવા થાઓ. ધણી આવે છે અને ટકોરા મારે છે. દાસો ધણી માંટે બારણું ઉઘાડે છે.

³⁶ Be like men watching for their lord, when he returns from the marriage feast; that, when he comes and knocks, they may immediately open to him.

³⁷એ દાસોને ધન્ય છે કારણ કે જ્યારે તેઓનો ધણી ઘરે આવે છે અને તે જુએ છે કે તેના દાસો તૈયાર છે અને તેની વાટ જુએ છે. હું તમને સત્ય કહું છું, ધણી તેની જાતે કામ માટે કપડાં પહેરશે અને દાસોને મેજ પાસે બેસવા કહેશે. પછી ધણી તેમની સેવા કરશે.

³⁷ Blessed are those servants, whom the lord will find watching when he comes. Most certainly I tell you, that he will dress himself, and make them recline, and will come and serve them.

³⁸પેલા દાસોને મધરાત પછી મોડેથી તેઓના ધણીની આવવાની રાહ જોવી પડે. તેઓનો ધણી જ્યારે આવે છે, ત્યારે તેઓને રાહ જોતા જોઈને તે આનંદ પામે છે.

³⁸ They will be blessed if he comes in the second or third watch, and finds them so.

³⁹“આ યાદ રાખો, ઘરનો ધણી જો જાણતો હોત કે ક્યા સમયે ચોર આવશે તો પછી ધણી ચોરને તેના ઘરમાં ઘૂસવા દેત નહિ.

³⁹ But know this, that if the master of the house had known in what hour the thief was coming, he would have watched, and not allowed his house to be broken into.

⁴⁰તેથી તમે પણ તૈયાર રહો! માણસનો દિકરો તમે ધાર્યુ નહિ હોય તેવા સમયે આવશે.”

⁴⁰ Therefore be ready also, for the Son of Man is coming in an hour that you don’t expect him.”

⁴¹પિતરે કહ્યું, “પ્રભુ, તેં આ વાર્તા અમારા માટે કહી કે બધા લોકો માટે?”

⁴¹Peter said to him, “Lord, are you telling this parable to us, or to everybody?”

⁴²પ્રભુએ કહ્યું, “શાણો અને વિશ્વાસપાત્ર સેવક કોણ છે? ધણી એક દાસ પર વિશ્વાસ રાખે છે જે બીજા દાસોને સમયસર તેમનું ખાવાનું આપશે. એ દાસ કોણ છે જેના પર ધણી તે કામ કરવાનો વિશ્વાસ રાખે છે?

⁴²The Lord said, “Who then is the faithful and wise steward, whom his lord will set over his household, to give them their portion of food at the right times?

⁴³જ્યારે ધણી આવે છે અને પોતે દાસને સોંપેલું કામ કરતાં જુએ છે, ત્યારે તે દાસ ઘણો સુખી થશે.

⁴³ Blessed is that servant whom his lord will find doing so when he comes.

⁴⁴હું તમને સત્ય કહું છું, “ધણી તે દાસને પોતાની સર્વ માલમિલકતની સંભાળ રાખવા પસંદ કરે છે.

⁴⁴ Truly I tell you, that he will set him over all that he has.

⁴⁵“પણ જો દાસ દુષ્ટ હોય અને વિચારે કે તેનો ધણી જલદીથી પાછો આવશે નહિ, તો પછી શું બને? પેલો દાસ બીજા દાસો અને દાસીઓને મારવાનું શરૂ કરશે. તે ખાશે, પીશે અને છાકટો બનશે.

⁴⁵ But if that servant says in his heart, ‘My lord delays his coming,’ and begins to beat the menservants and the maidservants, and to eat and drink, and to be drunken,

⁴⁶પછી પેલા દાસનો ધણી આવશે ત્યારે પેલો દાસ તૈયાર હશે નહિ. દાસે ધારણા નહિ કરી હોય કે ધણી આવશે તેવા સમયે તે આવશે પછી ધણી પેલા દાસને શિક્ષા કરશે. ધણી તેને બીજા લોકો જે તેની આજ્ઞા પાળતા નથી તેમની સાથે દૂર કાઢી મૂકશે.

⁴⁶ then the lord of that servant will come in a day when he isn’t expecting him, and in an hour that he doesn’t know, and will cut him in two, and place his portion with the unfaithful.

⁴⁷“પેલા દાસે જાણ્યું, તેનો ધણી તેની પાસે શું કરાવવા માંગતો હતો પણ તે દાસે તેની જાતને તૈયાર કરી નહિ અથવા તેના ધણીની ઈચ્છા પ્રમાણે જે કરવાનું હતું તે માટે પ્રયત્ન પણ કર્યો નહિ, તેથી તે દાસને ઘણી બધી શિક્ષા થશે!

⁴⁷ That servant, who knew his lord’s will, and didn’t prepare, nor do what he wanted, will be beaten with many stripes,

⁴⁸પણ તે દાસોનું શું કે જેઓ તેમના ધણી શું ઈચ્છે છે તે જાણતા નથી? તે દાસ શિક્ષા થાય તેવાં જ કામ કરે છે. પણ જે દાસો તેમને શું કરવાનું છે તે જાણે છે તેના કરતા તેને ઓછી શિક્ષા થશે. જે વ્યક્તિને વધારે આપવામાં આવ્યું હશે તે વધારે હોવા માટે પણ જવાબદાર થશે. જે વ્યક્તિ પાસેથી વધારે અપેક્ષા રાખવામાં આવશે ત્યારે તેની પાસેથી વધારે માંગણી કરવામાં આવશે.”

⁴⁸ but he who didn’t know, and did things worthy of stripes, will be beaten with few stripes. To whomever much is given, of him will much be required; and to whom much was entrusted, of him more will be asked.

⁴⁹ઈસુએ બોલવાનું ચાલુ રાખ્યું, “હું પૃથ્વી પર આગ વરસાવવા આવ્યો છું. જો આગ પ્રસરી જ ગઇ હોય તો હું બીજું શું ઈચ્છું!

⁴⁹ “I came to throw fire on the earth. I wish it were already kindled.

⁵⁰મારે જુદા જ પ્રકારના બાપ્તિસ્મા સાથે બાપ્તિસ્મા પામવું જોઈએ અને તે પૂરું થતાં સુધી હું ઘણી ચિંતામાં છું.

⁵⁰ But I have a baptism to be baptized with, and how distressed I am until it is accomplished!

⁵¹શું તમે એમ માનો છો કે હું દુનિયાને શાંતિ આપવા આવ્યો છું? ના હું તો દુનિયાના ભાગલા પાડવા આવ્યો છું!

⁵¹ Do you think that I have come to give peace in the earth? I tell you, no, but rather division.

⁵²કેમ કે હવે એ પરિવારના પાંચ માણસોમાં ભાગલા પડશે. એટલે કે ત્રણ બેની સામે, અને બે ત્રણની સામે.

⁵² For from now on, there will be five in one house divided, three against two, and two against three.

⁵³પિતા અને પુત્રમાં ભાગલા પડશે: દીકરો તેના પિતાની વિરૂદ્ધ થશે. પિતા તેના પુત્રની વિરૂદ્ધ થશે. મા અને પુત્રીમાં ભાગલા પડશે: પુત્રી તેની માની વિરોધી થશે. મા તેની પુત્રીની વિરોધી થશે સાસુ અને વહુમાં ભાગલા પડશે: વહુ તેની સાસુની વિરોધી થશે. સાસુ તેની વહુની વિરોધી થશે.”

⁵³ They will be divided, father against son, and son against father; mother against daughter, and daughter against her mother; mother-in-law against her daughter-in-law, and daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law.” Micah 7:6

⁵⁴પછી ઈસુએ લોકોને કહ્યું, “જ્યારે તમે પશ્ચિમમાં મોટાં વાદળા ઘેરાતાં જુઓ છો ત્યારે તમે કહો છો કે; વર્ષાનું ઝાપટું આવશે; અને વરસાદ પડશે. અને ખરેખર વરસાદ પડે છે.

⁵⁴ He said to the multitudes also, “When you see a cloud rising from the west, immediately you say, ‘A shower is coming,’ and so it happens.

⁵⁵જ્યારે તમને લાગે છે કે દક્ષિણમાંથી પવન ફૂંકાય છે ત્યારે તમે કહો છો કે, ‘તે દિવસે ખૂબ ગરમી પડશે, અને તમે સાચા છો.’

⁵⁵ When a south wind blows, you say, ‘There will be a scorching heat,’ and it happens.

⁵⁶ઓ ઢોંગીઓ! તમે હવામાન સમજી શકો છો તો હમણાં જે બની રહ્યું છે તે તમે શા માટે સમજતા નથી?

⁵⁶ You hypocrites! You know how to interpret the appearance of the earth and the sky, but how is it that you don’t interpret this time?

⁵⁷“શું સાચું છે તેનો તમે તમારી જાતે કેમ નિર્ણય કરતા નથી?

⁵⁷ Why don’t you judge for yourselves what is right?

⁵⁸જ્યારે તારા વિરોધી સાથે ફરિયાદ નોંધાવવા માટે ન્યાયાલયમાં જતો હોય તો રસ્તામાં જ તેની સાથે સમાધાન કરવાનો પ્રયત્ન કર. જો તું તેનો ઉકેલ નહિ લાવે તો તે તને ન્યાયાધીશ આગળ ઘસડી જશે. રખે ન્યાયાધીશ તને અધિકારીને સોંપે. અને તે તને બંદીખાનામાં નાખે.

⁵⁸ For when you are going with your adversary before the magistrate, try diligently on the way to be released from him, lest perhaps he drag you to the judge, and the judge deliver you to the officer, and the officer throw you into prison.

⁵⁹હું તને કહું છું તું પ્રત્યેક દમડી જે તારે ચુકવવાની છે તે નહિ આપે ત્યાં સુધી તું ત્યાંથી બહાર નીકળશે નહિ.”

⁵⁹ I tell you, you will by no means get out of there, until you have paid the very last penny. literally, lepton. A lepton is a very small brass Jewish coin worth half a Roman quadrans each, which is worth a quarter of the copper assarion. Lepta are worth less than 1% of an agricultural worker’s daily wages. ”
