¹પછી ઈસુએ તે જગ્યા છોડી. તે યર્દન નદીને પેલે પાર યહૂદિયા પ્રદેશમાં ગયો. ફરીથી ઘણા લોકો તેની પાસે આવ્યા. ઈસુ હંમેશા કરતો હતો, તેવી રીતે લોકોને ઉપદેશ આપ્યો.

¹He arose from there and came into the borders of Judea and beyond the Jordan. Multitudes came together to him again. As he usually did, he was again teaching them.

²કેટલાક ફરોશીઓ ઈસુ પાસે આવ્યા. તેઓએ ઈસુ કઈક ખોટુ કહે તે માટે પ્રયત્નો કર્યા. તેઓએ ઈસુને પૂછયું, ‘પોતાની પત્નીને છૂટાછેડા આપવા તે માણસ માટે યોગ્ય છે?’

²Pharisees came to him testing him, and asked him, “Is it lawful for a man to divorce his wife?”

³ઈસુએ ઉત્તર આપ્યો, ‘મૂસાએ તમને શું કરવા હુકમ કર્યો હતો?’

³He answered, “What did Moses command you?”

⁴તે ફરોશીઓએ કહ્યું, ‘મૂસાએ છૂટાછેડાનું પ્રમાણપત્ર લખ્યા પછી તેની પત્નીથી છૂટાછેડા લેવાની માણસને પરવાનગી આપી છે’

⁴They said, “Moses allowed a certificate of divorce to be written, and to divorce her.”

⁵ઈસુએ કહ્યું, ‘મૂસાએ તે આજ્ઞા તમારા માટે લખી છે કારણ કે તમે દેવના ઉપદેશને સ્વીકારવાની ના પાડી.

⁵But Jesus said to them, “For your hardness of heart, he wrote you this commandment.

⁶પરંતુ જ્યારે દેવે દુનિયા બનાવી, ‘તેણે તેઓમાં નર અને નારીનું સર્જન કર્યું.’

⁶ But from the beginning of the creation, God made them male and female. Genesis 1:27

⁷‘તેથી માણસ તેના માતાપિતાને છોડીને તેની પત્ની સાથે જોડાશે.

⁷ For this cause a man will leave his father and mother, and will join to his wife,

⁸અને બે જણ એક બનશે.’ તેથી તેઓ બે નથી પણ એક છે.

⁸ and the two will become one flesh, Genesis 2:24 so that they are no longer two, but one flesh.

⁹દેવે તે બેને સાથે જોડ્યા છે. તેથી કોઈ વ્યક્તિએ તેઓને છૂટા નહિ પાડવા જોઈએ.’

⁹ What therefore God has joined together, let no man separate.”

¹⁰પાછળથી તે શિષ્યો અને ઈસુ ઘરમાં હતા. તે શિષ્યોએ ફરીથી ઈસુને છૂટાછેડાના પ્રશ્ર વિષે પૂછયું.

¹⁰In the house, his disciples asked him again about the same matter.

¹¹ઈસુએ ઉત્તર આપ્યો, ‘કોઈ પણ વ્યક્તિ જે તેની પત્નીને છૂટાછેડા આપે છે અને બીજી સ્ત્રીને પરણે છે. તે તેની પત્ની વિરૂદ્ધ પાપમાં દોષિત છે. તે વ્યભિચારના પાપ માટે ગુનેગાર છે.

¹¹He said to them, “Whoever divorces his wife, and marries another, commits adultery against her.

¹²અને જે સ્ત્રી પોતાના પતિને છૂટાછેડા આપે છે અને બીજા પુરુંષને પરણે છે ત્યારે તે પણ વ્યભિચાર માટે દોષિત છે.’ : 13-15 ; લૂક 18 : 15-17)

¹² If a woman herself divorces her husband, and marries another, she commits adultery.”

¹³લોકો તેમનાં નાનાં બાળકોને ઈસુ પાસે લાવ્યાં. તેથી તેઓને સ્પર્શી શકે. પરંતુ શિષ્યોએ લોકોને તેમના બાળકોને ઈસુ પાસે લાવતા અટકાવ્યા.

¹³They were bringing to him little children, that he should touch them, but the disciples rebuked those who were bringing them.

¹⁴ઈસુએ શું બન્યું તે જોયું. તેના શિષ્યોએ બાળકોને નહિ આવવા માટેનું કહેવું તેને ગમ્યું નહિ. ઈસુએ તેઓને કહ્યું, ‘નાનાં બાળકોને મારી પાસે આવવા દો, તેઓને રોકશો નહિ. કારણ કે દેવનું રાજ્ય એ લોકોનું છે જેઓ આ નાનાં બાળકો જેવાં છે.

¹⁴But when Jesus saw it, he was moved with indignation, and said to them, “Allow the little children to come to me! Don’t forbid them, for the Kingdom of God belongs to such as these.

¹⁵હું તમને સાચું કહું છું, તમારે દેવના રાજ્યનો સ્વીકાર, એક નાનું બાળક વસ્તુઓ સ્વીકારે છે તેવી રીતે કરવો જોઈએ. નહિ તો તમે કદાપિ તેમાં પ્રવેશ કરશો જ નહિ.’

¹⁵ Most certainly I tell you, whoever will not receive the Kingdom of God like a little child, he will in no way enter into it.”

¹⁶પછી ઈસુએ બાળકોને તેના બાથમાં લીધા. ઈસુએ તેઓના પર હાથ મૂકી તેઓને આશીર્વાદ દીધો. : 16-30 ; લૂક 18 : 18-30)

¹⁶He took them in his arms, and blessed them, laying his hands on them.

¹⁷ઈસુએ વિદાય થવાની શરુંઆત કરી. પરંતુ એક માણસ દોડતો આવ્યો અને ઈસુની આગળ તેના ઘૂંટણે પડ્યો, તે માણસે પૂછયું, ‘ઉત્તમ ઉપદેશક, અનંતજીવન મેળવવા મારે શું કરવું જોઈએ?’

¹⁷As he was going out into the way, one ran to him, knelt before him, and asked him, “Good Teacher, what shall I do that I may inherit eternal life?”

¹⁸ઈસુએ ઉત્તર આપ્યો, ‘તું મને ઉત્તમ શા માટે કહે છે? કોઈ વ્યક્તિ ઉત્તમ નથી. ફક્ત દેવ જ ઉત્તમ છે.

¹⁸Jesus said to him, “Why do you call me good? No one is good except one—God.

¹⁹પણ હું તારા પ્રશ્નનો ઉત્તર આપીશ. તું આજ્ઞાઓ જાણે છે: ‘તારે કોઈનું ખૂન કરવું જોઈએ નહિ, તારે વ્યભિચારનું પાપ કરવું જોઈએ નહિ, તારે ચોરી કરવી જોઈએ નહિ, તારે તારા માબાપને માન આપવું જોઈએ....’ “

¹⁹ You know the commandments: ‘Do not murder,’ ‘Do not commit adultery,’ ‘Do not steal,’ ‘Do not give false testimony,’ ‘Do not defraud,’ ‘Honor your father and mother.’” Exodus 20:12-16; Deuteronomy 5:16-20

²⁰તે માણસે કહ્યું, ‘ઉપદેશક, હું બાળક હતો ત્યારથી આ બધી આજ્ઞાઓનું પાલન કરું છું.’

²⁰He said to him, “Teacher, I have observed all these things from my youth.”

²¹ઈસુએ તે માણસ સામે જોયું. ઈસુને તેના પર હેત આવ્યું. ઈસુએ કહ્યું, ‘તું એક વાત સબંધી અધૂરો છે. જા અને તારી પાસે જે બધું છે તે વેચી નાખ. પૈસા ગરીબ લોકોને આપ. તને આકાશમાં તેનો બદલો મળશે. પછી આવ અને મને અનુસર.’

²¹Jesus looking at him loved him, and said to him, “One thing you lack. Go, sell whatever you have, and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come, follow me, taking up the cross.”

²²ઈસુને આમ કહેતા સાંભળીને તે માણસનો ચહેરો ફીક્કો પડી ગયો. અને તે વિદાય થયો. તે માણસ દુ:ખી હતો કારણ કે તે ઘણો પૈસાદાર હતો અને તેના પૈસા રાખવા ઈચ્છતો હતો.

²²But his face fell at that saying, and he went away sorrowful, for he was one who had great possessions.

²³પછી ઈસુએ તેના શિષ્યો તરફ જોયું અને તેઓને કહ્યું, ‘ધનવાન વ્યક્તિઓ માટે દેવના રાજ્યમાં પ્રવેશવું ઘણું મુશ્કેલ હશે!’

²³Jesus looked around, and said to his disciples, “How difficult it is for those who have riches to enter into the Kingdom of God!”

²⁴ઈસુએ જે કહ્યું તેથી શિષ્યો આશ્ચર્યચકિત થયા. પણ ઈસુએ ફરીથી કહ્યું, ‘મારાં બાળકો, દેવના રાજ્યમાં પ્રવેશવું તે ઘણું કઠિન છે!

²⁴The disciples were amazed at his words. But Jesus answered again, “Children, how hard is it for those who trust in riches to enter into the Kingdom of God!

²⁵અને પૈસાદાર માણસો માટે દેવના રાજ્યમાં પ્રવેશવું તે ઘણું મુશ્કેલ બનશે. સોયના નાકામાંથી પસાર થવું ઊંટના માટે સહેલું બનશે!’

²⁵ It is easier for a camel to go through a needle’s eye than for a rich man to enter into the Kingdom of God.”

²⁶તે શિષ્યો વધારે નવાઇ પામ્યા હતા અને એકબીજાને કહ્યું, ‘તો કોણ તારણ પામી શકે?’

²⁶They were exceedingly astonished, saying to him, “Then who can be saved?”

²⁷ઈસુએ શિષ્યો તરફ જોયું અને કહ્યું, ‘આ કઈક એવું છે જે લોકો તેમની જાતે કરી શકે નહિ, તે દેવ પાસેથી આવવું જોઈએ. દેવ બધી વસ્તુઓ કરી શકે છે.’

²⁷Jesus, looking at them, said, “With men it is impossible, but not with God, for all things are possible with God.”

²⁸પિતરે ઈસુને કહ્યું, ‘અમે તને અનુસરવા બધુંજ છોડી દીધું!’

²⁸Peter began to tell him, “Behold, we have left all, and have followed you.”

²⁹ઈસુએ કહ્યું, ‘હું તમને સત્ય કહું છું, પ્રત્યેક વ્યક્તિ જેણે તેનું ઘર, ભાઈઓ, બહેનો, મા, પિતા, બાળકો અથવા ખેતરોને મારી સુવાર્તા માટે છોડ્યા છે,

²⁹Jesus said, “Most certainly I tell you, there is no one who has left house, or brothers, or sisters, or father, or mother, or wife, or children, or land, for my sake, and for the sake of the Good News,

³⁰તેઓએ જેટલું છોડ્યું છે તેના કરતાં સોગણું વધારે મેળવશે. અહીં આ દુનિયામાં તે વ્યક્તિ વધારે ઘરો, ભાઈઓ, બહેનો, મા, પિતા, બાળકો અથવા ખેતરો મેળવશે અને તે વસ્તુઓ સાથે તે વ્યક્તિની સતાવણી થશે. પણ આવનાર દુનિયામાં તેને બદલો મળશે. તે બદલો અનંતજીવન છે.

³⁰ but he will receive one hundred times more now in this time, houses, brothers, sisters, mothers, children, and land, with persecutions; and in the age to come eternal life.

³¹ઘણા લોકો જેની પાસે હાલમાં ઊંચામાં ઊંચી જગ્યા છે, તેમની પાસે ભવિષ્યમાં નીચામાં નીચી જગ્યા હશે. અને જે લોકો પાસે હાલમાં નીચામાં નીચી જગ્યા છે તેઓ ભવિષ્યમાં ઊંચામાં ઊંચી જગ્યા મેળવશે.’ : 17-19 ; લૂક 18 : 31-34)

³¹ But many who are first will be last; and the last first.”

³²ઈસુ અને તેની સાથેના લોકો યરૂશાલેમ જતા હતા. ઈસુ લોકોને દોરતો હતો. ઈસુના શિષ્યો આશ્ચર્યચકિત થઈ ગયા. પણ પેલા લોકો જે તેની પાછળ આવતા હતા તેઓ બીતાં હતા. ઈસુએ ફરીથી બાર પ્રેરિતોને ભેગા કર્યા. અને તેઓની સાથે એકલા વાત કરી. ઈસુએ યરૂશાલેમમાં શું થશે તે તેઓને કહ્યું.

³²They were on the way, going up to Jerusalem; and Jesus was going in front of them, and they were amazed; and those who followed were afraid. He again took the twelve, and began to tell them the things that were going to happen to him.

³³ઈસુએ કહ્યું, ‘આપણે યરૂશાલેમ તરફ જઈએ છીએ. માણસના દિકરાને મુખ્ય યાજકો અને શાસ્ત્રીઓના હાથમાં સોંપવામાં આવશે. યાજકો અને શાસ્ત્રીઓ કહેશે કે માણસના દિકરાએ મરવું જોઈએ. તેઓ બિનયહૂદિ લોકોને માણસનો દિકરા સોંપશે.

³³ “Behold, we are going up to Jerusalem. The Son of Man will be delivered to the chief priests and the scribes. They will condemn him to death, and will deliver him to the Gentiles.

³⁴તે લોકો તેની મશ્કરી કરશે અને તેના પર થૂંકશે, તેઓ તેને ચાબૂકથી મારશે અને તેને મારી નાખશે. પરંતુ તેના મૃત્યુ પછી ત્રીજા દિવસે તે પાછો ઊઠશે.’ : 20-28)

³⁴ They will mock him, spit on him, scourge him, and kill him. On the third day he will rise again.”

³⁵પછી ઝબદીનો દીકરો યાકૂબ તથા યોહાન ઈસુની પાસે આવે છે. તેઓએ કહ્યું, ‘ઉપદેશક, અમે તને અમારા માટે કશુંક કરવાનું કહેવાની ઈચ્છા રાખીએ છીએ.’

³⁵James and John, the sons of Zebedee, came near to him, saying, “Teacher, we want you to do for us whatever we will ask.”

³⁶ઈસુએ પૂછયું, ‘તમે મારી પાસે શું કરાવવા ઈચ્છો છો?’

³⁶He said to them, “What do you want me to do for you?”

³⁷પુત્રોએ ઉત્તર આપ્યો, ‘તું તારા મહિમામાં અમારામાંના એકને તારી જમણી બાજુ બેસવા દે અને એકને તારી ડાબી બાજુ બેસવા દે.’

³⁷They said to him, “Grant to us that we may sit, one at your right hand, and one at your left hand, in your glory.”

³⁸ઈસુએ કહ્યું, ‘તમે જે માગો છો તે તમે સમજી શકતા નથી. મારે જે પીડા સહન કરવાની છે તેવી તમે સ્વીકારી શકશો? અને જે બાપ્તિસ્મા હું લઉં છું તે બાપ્તિસ્મા તમે લઈ શકશો?’

³⁸But Jesus said to them, “You don’t know what you are asking. Are you able to drink the cup that I drink, and to be baptized with the baptism that I am baptized with?”

³⁹પુત્રોએ ઉત્તર આપ્યો, ‘હા અમે કરી શકીશું.’ ઈસુએ પુત્રોને કહ્યું, ‘હું જે સહન કરીશ તે રીતે તમારે સહન કરવું પડશે. હું જે રીતે બાપ્તિસ્મા પામીશ તેવી જ રીતે તમારું બાપ્તિસ્મા થશે.

³⁹They said to him, “We are able.” Jesus said to them, “You shall indeed drink the cup that I drink, and you shall be baptized with the baptism that I am baptized with;

⁴⁰પણ મારી જમણી કે ડાબી બાજુમાં બેસવાનો અધિકાર આપનાર વ્યક્તિ હું નથી. ત્યાં કેટલાએક લોકો છે તેઓને પેલી જગ્યાઓ મળશે. પેલી જગ્યાઓ તેમના માટે તૈયાર કરવામાં આવી છે.’

⁴⁰ but to sit at my right hand and at my left hand is not mine to give, but for whom it has been prepared.”

⁴¹બીજા દસ શિષ્યોએ આ સાંભળ્યું. તેઓ યાકૂબ અને યોહાન પર ગુસ્સે થયા.

⁴¹When the ten heard it, they began to be indignant towards James and John.

⁴²ઈસુએ બધા શિષ્યોને સાથે બોલાવ્યા. ઈસુએ કહ્યું, ‘બિનયહૂદિ લોકો પાસે માણસો છે તેઓ શાસકો કહેવાય છે. તું જાણે છે કે પેલા શાસકો લોકો પર તેમનું ધણીપણું બતાવવા ઈચ્છે છે અને તેમના આગેવાનો લોકો પર તેઓની બધી સત્તાનો ઉપયોગ કરવા ઈચ્છે છે.

⁴²Jesus summoned them, and said to them, “You know that they who are recognized as rulers over the nations lord it over them, and their great ones exercise authority over them.

⁴³પણ તમારી સાથે તે રીતે ન થવું જોઈએ. તમારામાંથી કોઈ મહાન થવા ઈચ્છતું હોય તો પછી તેણે સેવકની જેમ તમારી સેવા કરવી જોઈએ.

⁴³ But it shall not be so among you, but whoever wants to become great among you shall be your servant.

⁴⁴જો તમારામાંથી કોઈ એક સૌથી વધારે મહત્વનો થવા ઈચ્છે તો પછી તેણે તમારા બધાની એક દાસની જેમ સેવા કરવી.

⁴⁴ Whoever of you wants to become first among you, shall be bondservant of all.

⁴⁵તે જ રીતે, માણસનો પુત્ર બીજા લોકો પાસે તેની સેવા કરાવવા આવ્યો નથી. પરંતુ માણસનો પુત્ર બીજા લોકોની સેવા કરવા માટે આવ્યો છે. માણસનો પુત્ર ઘણા લોકોને બચાવવા તેનું જીવન સમર્પિત કરવા આવ્યો છે’ : 29-34 ; લૂક 18 : 35-43)

⁴⁵ For the Son of Man also came not to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.”

⁴⁶પછી તેઓ યરેખોના ગામમાં આવ્યા. ઈસુ તેના શિષ્યો અને બીજા ઘણા લોકો સાથે તે ગામની વિદાય લેતા હતા. બર્તિમાય નામનો એક આંધળો માણસ (તિમાયનો પુત્ર) રસ્તાની બાજુમાં બેઠો હતો. આ માણસ હંમેશા પૈસાની ભીખ માંગતો હતો.

⁴⁶They came to Jericho. As he went out from Jericho, with his disciples and a great multitude, the son of Timaeus, Bartimaeus, a blind beggar, was sitting by the road.

⁴⁷આંધળા માણસે સાંભળ્યું કે નાઝરેથનો ઈસુ બાજુમાંથી પસાર હતો. તે આંધળા માણસે બૂમ પાડી, ‘ઈસુ, દાઉદના દીકરા, કૃપા કરીને મને મદદ કર!’

⁴⁷When he heard that it was Jesus the Nazarene, he began to cry out, and say, “Jesus, you son of David, have mercy on me!”

⁴⁸ઘણા લોકોએ આંધળા માણસની ટીકા કરી. તેઓએ તેને નહિ બોલવા કહ્યું. પરંતુ આંધળો માણસ વધારે ને વધારે બૂમો પાડવા લાગ્યો. ‘દાઉદના દીકરા, કૃપા કરીને મને મદદ કર!’

⁴⁸Many rebuked him, that he should be quiet, but he cried out much more, “You son of David, have mercy on me!”

⁴⁹ઈસુ ઊભો રહ્યો અને કહ્યું, ‘તે માણસને અહીં આવવા કહો.’ તેથી તેઓએ આંધળા માણસને બોલાવ્યો. તેઓએ કહ્યું, ‘હિમ્મત રાખ! ઊભો થા! ઈસુ તને બોલાવે છે.’

⁴⁹Jesus stood still, and said, “Call him.” They called the blind man, saying to him, “Cheer up! Get up. He is calling you!”

⁵⁰આંધળો માણસ ઝડપથી ઊભો થયો. તેણે તેનો ડગલો ત્યાં મૂક્યો અને ઈસુ તરફ ગયો.

⁵⁰He, casting away his cloak, sprang up, and came to Jesus.

⁵¹ઈસુએ માણસને પૂછયું, ‘મારી પાસે તું શું કરવાની ઈચ્છા રાખે છે?’ આંધળો માણસ બોલ્યો, ‘ઉપદેશક, મારી ઈચ્છા ફરી દેખતા થવાની છે.’

⁵¹Jesus asked him, “What do you want me to do for you?” The blind man said to him, “Rabboni, Rabboni is a transliteration of the Hebrew word for “great teacher.” that I may see again.”

⁵²[This verse may not be a part of this translation]

⁵²Jesus said to him, “Go your way. Your faith has made you well.” Immediately he received his sight, and followed Jesus in the way.
