¹બીજી એક વખત ઈસુએ સરોવરની બાજુમાં ઉપદેશ શરૂ કર્યો. ઘણા બધા લોકો ઈસુની આજુબાજુ ભેગા થયા. તેથી તે હોડીમાં ચઢ્યો અને ત્યાં બેઠો. બધા જ લોકો પાણીની બાાજુમાં સમુદ્રને કાંઠે રહ્યાં.

¹Again he began to teach by the seaside. A great multitude was gathered to him, so that he entered into a boat in the sea, and sat down. All the multitude were on the land by the sea.

²ઈસુએ હોડીમાંથી જ લોકોને ઉપદેશ આપ્યો. ઈસુએ તેઓને શીખવવા માટે ઘણી વાર્તાઓનો ઉપયોગ કર્યો. તેણે કહ્યું:

²He taught them many things in parables, and told them in his teaching,

³‘ધ્યાનથી સાંભળો! એક ખેડૂત તેના બી વાવવા માટે બહાર નીકળ્યો.

³ “Listen! Behold, the farmer went out to sow,

⁴જ્યારે ખેડૂત વાવતો હતો, કેટલાંક બી રસ્તાની બાજુએ પડ્યા. પક્ષીઓ આવ્યાં અને પેલાં બધા બી ખાઈ ગયાં.

⁴ and it happened, as he sowed, some seed fell by the road, and the birds TR adds “of the air” came and devoured it.

⁵કેટલાંક બી ખડકાળ જમીન પર પડ્યાં. જ્યાં પૂરતી માટી ન હતી. ત્યાં બી ઘણા ઝડપથી ઊગ્યાં કારણ કે જમીન બહુ ઊંડી ન હતી.

⁵ Others fell on the rocky ground, where it had little soil, and immediately it sprang up, because it had no depth of soil.

⁶પણ સુર્ય ઊગ્યો ત્યારે તે છોડ કરમાઇ ગયો હતો. તે અંતે સુકાઇ ગયો. કારણ કે તેને ઊંડા મૂળિયાં ન હતા.

⁶ When the sun had risen, it was scorched; and because it had no root, it withered away.

⁷બીજા કેટલાંક બી કાંટાળા જાળાંમા પડ્યાં. કાંટાના જાળાંએ સારા છોડને ઉગતાં અટકાવ્યા. તેથી તે છોડોએ ફળ ન આપ્યું.

⁷ Others fell among the thorns, and the thorns grew up, and choked it, and it yielded no fruit.

⁸કેટલાંક બીજા બી સારી જમાન પર પડ્યાં. સારી જમીનમાં તે બી ઊગવા માંડ્યાં. તે ઊગ્યા અને ફળ આપ્યાં. કેટલાક છોડે ત્રીસગણાં, કેટલાક છોડોએ સાઠગણાં અને કેટલાક છોડોએ સોગણાં ફળ આપ્યાં.”

⁸ Others fell into the good ground, and yielded fruit, growing up and increasing. Some brought forth thirty times, some sixty times, and some one hundred times as much.”

⁹પછી ઈસુએ કહ્યું, ‘તમે લોકો જે મને સાંભળો છો, ધ્યાનથી સાંભળો!’ : 10-17 ; લૂક 8 : 9-10)

⁹He said, “Whoever has ears to hear, let him hear.”

¹⁰જ્યારે ઈસુ એકાંતમાં હતો ત્યારે બાર પ્રેરિતો અને ઈસુના બીજા શિષ્યોએ તેને વાર્તાઓ વિષે પૂછયું.

¹⁰When he was alone, those who were around him with the twelve asked him about the parables.

¹¹ઈસુએ કહ્યું, ‘તમે ફક્ત દેવના રાજ્ય વિષેનું સાચું રહસ્ય સમજી શકો. પણ બીજા લોકોનું હું બધી વસ્તુઓ વાર્તાઓનો ઉપયોગ કરી કહું છું.

¹¹He said to them, “To you is given the mystery of the Kingdom of God, but to those who are outside, all things are done in parables,

¹²હું આ કરું છું તેથી, ‘તેઓ જોશે અને જોયા કરશે પરંતુ કદાપિ જોઈ શકશે નહિ; તેઓ સાંભળશે અને સાંભળ્યાં કરશે, પણ કદાપિ સમજશે નહિ. જો તેઓએ જોયું હોય અને સમજ્યા હોય તો, તેઓ પસ્તાવો કરે, ને તેઓને (પાપની) માફી મળે.”‘ યશાયા 6:9-10 : 18-23 ; લૂક 8 : 11-15)

¹² that ‘seeing they may see, and not perceive; and hearing they may hear, and not understand; lest perhaps they should turn again, and their sins should be forgiven them.’” Isaiah 6:9-10

¹³પછી ઈસુએ શિષ્યોને કહ્યું, ‘તમે આ વાર્તા સમજ્યા? જો તમે ના સમજ્યા હોય તો પછી તમે બીજી કઈ વાર્તા સમજી શકશો?

¹³He said to them, “Don’t you understand this parable? How will you understand all of the parables?

¹⁴ખેડૂત એ એક વ્યક્તિ છે જે લોકોમાં દેવના વચનને વાવે છે.

¹⁴ The farmer sows the word.

¹⁵કેટલીક વાર તે વચન રસ્તા પર પડે છે. આ કેટલાક લોકો જેવું છે. તે લોકો દેવનું વચન સાંભળે છે. પરંતુ શેતાન આવે છે અને વચન લઈ જાય છે જે તેઓનામાં વવાયેલું હતું.

¹⁵ The ones by the road are the ones where the word is sown; and when they have heard, immediately Satan comes, and takes away the word which has been sown in them.

¹⁶‘બીજા લોકો પથ્થરવાળી જમીનમાં વાવેલાં બીજ જેવા છે. તેઓ વચન સાંભળે છે અને તેનો આનંદથી તરત જ સ્વીકાર કરે છે.

¹⁶ These in the same way are those who are sown on the rocky places, who, when they have heard the word, immediately receive it with joy.

¹⁷પણ આ લોકો વચનને તેમના જીવનમાં ઊંડા ઉતરવા દેતા નથી. તેઓ આ વચનને ફક્ત થોડી વાર માટે રાખે છે. જ્યારે મુશ્કેલી અથવા સતાવણી વચનને કારણે આવે છે ત્યારે તેઓ તરત ઠોકર ખાય છે.

¹⁷ They have no root in themselves, but are short-lived. When oppression or persecution arises because of the word, immediately they stumble.

¹⁸‘બીજા કેટલાંક લોકો કાંટાળા જાળામાં વાવેલાં બીજ જેવા છે. આ લોકો વચન સાંભળે છે.

¹⁸ Others are those who are sown among the thorns. These are those who have heard the word,

¹⁹પણ પછી તેમના જીવનમાં આવી બાબતો આવે છે. જેવી કે આ જીવનની ચિંતાઓ, ખૂબ પૈસાનો ખોટો મોહ, અને બીજી બધીજ જાતની વસ્તુઓની કામના. આ વસ્તુઓ વચનના વિકાસને અટકાવે છે. તેથી તે વચન તે લોકોના જીવનમાં ફળદાયી થતું નથી.

¹⁹ and the cares of this age, and the deceitfulness of riches, and the lusts of other things entering in choke the word, and it becomes unfruitful.

²⁰‘બીજા લોકો સારી જમાનમાં વાવેલાં બીજ જેવા છે. તેઓ ઉપદેશ સાંભળે છે, સ્વીકારે છે અને ફળ આપે છે. કેટલીક વાર ત્રીસગણાં, કેટલીક વાર સાઠગણાં અને કેટલીક વાર સોગણાં ફળ આપે છે.’ : 16-18)

²⁰ Those which were sown on the good ground are those who hear the word, and accept it, and bear fruit, some thirty times, some sixty times, and some one hundred times.”

²¹પછી ઈસુએ તેઓને કહ્યું, ‘શું માપ તળે અથવા ખાટલા તળે મૂકવા સારું કોઈ દીવો રાખે છે? શું દીવી પર મૂકવા નહિ?

²¹He said to them, “Is the lamp brought to be put under a basket literally, a modion, a dry measuring basket containing about a peck (about 9 litres) or under a bed? Isn’t it put on a stand?

²²જે બધું સંતાડેલું છે તે સ્પષ્ટ થશે. દરેક ગુપ્ત વસ્તુ પ્રગટ કરવામાં આવશે.

²² For there is nothing hidden, except that it should be made known; neither was anything made secret, but that it should come to light.

²³તમે લોકો જે મને સાંભળો છો, ધ્યાનથી સાંભળો!

²³ If any man has ears to hear, let him hear.”

²⁴તમે જે સાંભળો તે વિષે કાળજીપૂર્વક વિચારો. તમે જે માપથી આપશો તે માપથી દેવ તમને આપશે. પણ દેવ તમને, તમે જેટલું આપશો તેનાથી વધુ આપશે.

²⁴He said to them, “Take heed what you hear. With whatever measure you measure, it will be measured to you, and more will be given to you who hear.

²⁵જે વ્યક્તિ પાસે કાંઇક છે તે વધારે પ્રાપ્ત કરશે. પણ જે કઈ થોડું છે તે પણ ગુમાવશે.’

²⁵ For whoever has, to him will more be given, and he who doesn’t have, even that which he has will be taken away from him.”

²⁶પછી ઈસુએ કહ્યું, ‘દેવનું રાજ્ય એક માણસ જમીનમાં બીજ વાવે છે તેના જેવું છે.

²⁶He said, “The Kingdom of God is as if a man should cast seed on the earth,

²⁷બીજ ઊગવાની શરૂઆત કરે છે. તે રાત અને દિવસ ઊગે છે. તે મહત્વનું નથી કે માણસ ઊંઘે છે કે જાગે છે, છતા પણ બીજ તો ઊગે છે; પણ તે શી રીતે ઊગયું તે જાણતો નથી.

²⁷ and should sleep and rise night and day, and the seed should spring up and grow, he doesn’t know how.

²⁸કોઈ પણ જાતની મદદ વિના ભોંય અનાજ ઉગાડે છે. પ્રથમ છોડ ઊગે છે. પછી કણસલું અને ત્યાર બાદ કણસલામાં બધા દાણા ભરાય છે.

²⁸ For the earth bears fruit: first the blade, then the ear, then the full grain in the ear.

²⁹જ્યારે દાણા તૈયાર થાય છે, ત્યારે માણસ તેને કાપે છે. આ સમય કાપણીનો છે.’ : 31-32 , 34-35 ; લૂક 13 : 18-19)

²⁹ But when the fruit is ripe, immediately he puts forth the sickle, because the harvest has come.”

³⁰પછી ઈસુએ કહ્યું, ‘દેવનું રાજ્ય શાના જેવું છે એ તમને બતાવવા હું શાનો ઉપયોગ કરી શકું? તે સમજાવવા માટે હું વાર્તાનો ઉપયોગ કરી શકું?

³⁰He said, “How will we liken the Kingdom of God? Or with what parable will we illustrate it?

³¹દેવનું રાજ્ય એક રાઈના બી જેવું છે જે તમે જમીનમાં વાવો છે. તે સર્વ બી કરતાં નાનામાં નાનું બી છે.

³¹ It’s like a grain of mustard seed, which, when it is sown in the earth, though it is less than all the seeds that are on the earth,

³²પણ જ્યારે તમે આ બી વાવો છો, તે ઊગે છે અને તમારા બાગના બધા જ છોડવાઓમાં સૌથી મોટો છોડ બને છે. તેને ખૂબ મોટી ડાળીઓ હોય છે. ત્યાં આકાશનાં પક્ષીઓ આવી શકે છે અને માળાઓ બનાવી શકે છે અને સૂર્યથી રક્ષણ મેળવી શકે છે.’

³² yet when it is sown, grows up, and becomes greater than all the herbs, and puts out great branches, so that the birds of the sky can lodge under its shadow.”

³³ઈસુએ તેમને શીખવવા માટે આવી ઘણી વાર્તાઓનો ઉપયોગ કર્યો, જેથી તેઓ દરેક બાબત સમજી શકે.

³³With many such parables he spoke the word to them, as they were able to hear it.

³⁴ઈસુ હંમેશા લોકોને શીખવવા માટે વાર્તાઓનો ઉપયોગ કરતો. પણ જ્યારે ઈસુ અને તેના શ્ષ્યો એકલા ભેગા થતા ત્યારે ઈસુ તેઓને દરેક વાતોનો ખુલાસો કરતો. : 23-27 ; લૂક 8 : 22-25)

³⁴Without a parable he didn’t speak to them; but privately to his own disciples he explained everything.

³⁵તે દિવસે સાંજે ઈસુએ તેના શિષ્યોને કહ્યું, ‘ચાલો, આપણે સરોવરને પેલે પાર જઇએ.’

³⁵On that day, when evening had come, he said to them, “Let’s go over to the other side.”

³⁶ઈસુ અને શિષ્યોએ લોકોને ત્યાં છોડ્યા. ઈસુ જેમાં બેઠો હતો તે જ હોડીમાં તેઓ ગયા. ત્યાં તેની સાથે બીજી હોડીઓ પણ હતી.

³⁶Leaving the multitude, they took him with them, even as he was, in the boat. Other small boats were also with him.

³⁷સરોવરમાં પવનનું મોટું તોફાન થયું. મોજાઓ ઉપરની બાજુઓ પર અને હોડીની અંદર આવવા લાગ્યાં. હોડી લગભગ પાણીથી ભરાઇ ગઈ હતી.

³⁷A big wind storm arose, and the waves beat into the boat, so much that the boat was already filled.

³⁸ઈસુ હોડીના પાછલા ભાગમા ઓસીકા પર તેનું માથું ટેકવીને ઊંઘતો હતો. શિષ્યો તેની પાસે ગયા અને તેને જગાડીને કહ્યું, ‘ઉપદેશક, તને અમારી ચિંતા નથી? આપણે ડૂબી જઈશું!’

³⁸He himself was in the stern, asleep on the cushion, and they woke him up, and told him, “Teacher, don’t you care that we are dying?”

³⁹ઈસુ ઊભો થયો અને પવનને અને મોંજાઓને અટકી જવા આજ્ઞા કરી, ઈસુએ કહ્યું, ‘છાનો રહે, શાંત થા!’ પછી પવન અટકી ગયો અને સરોવર શાંત થઈ ગયું.

³⁹He awoke, and rebuked the wind, and said to the sea, “Peace! Be still!” The wind ceased, and there was a great calm.

⁴⁰ઈસુએ તેના શિષ્યોને કહ્યું, ‘તમે શા માટે ડરો છો? શું તમને હજુયે વિશ્વાસ નથી?’

⁴⁰He said to them, “Why are you so afraid? How is it that you have no faith?”

⁴¹They were greatly afraid, and said to one another, “Who then is this, that even the wind and the sea obey him?”
