1את הזקנים אשר בקרבכם אזהיר אנכי עמיתם הזקן ועד ענויי המשיח וגם חבר לכבוד העתיד להגלות׃
1The elders which [are] among you I exhort, who [am their] fellow-elder and witness of the sufferings of the Christ, who also [am] partaker of the glory about to be revealed:
2רעו את עדר האלהים אשר בידכם והשגיחו עליהם לא באנס כי אם בנדבה אף לא עקב בצע כי אם בנפש חפצה׃
2shepherd the flock of God which [is] among you, exercising oversight, not by necessity, but willingly; not for base gain, but readily;
3גם לא כמתעמרים בנחלת יהוה כי אם בהיותכם מופת לצאן׃
3not as lording it over your possessions, but being models for the flock.
4והיה בהגלות שר הרעים תשאו עטרת הכבוד אשר לא תבל׃
4And when the chief shepherd is manifested ye shall receive the unfading crown of glory.
5וכן גם אתם הנערים הכנעו לפני הזקנים וחגרו כלכם שפלות רוח בהכנע איש לרעהו כי אלהים ללצים יליץ ולענוים יתן חן׃
5Likewise [ye] younger, be subject to [the] elder, and all of you bind on humility towards one another; for God sets himself against [the] proud, but to [the] humble gives grace.
6השפילו נפשכם תחת יד אלהים החזקה למען ירומם אתכם בעתו׃
6Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in [the due] time;
7השליכו עליו כל יהבכם כי הוא ידאג לכם׃
7having cast all your care upon him, for he cares about you.
8התעוררו שקדו כי מריבכם השטן משוטט כאריה שאג ומבקש את אשר יבלע׃
8Be vigilant, watch. Your adversary [the] devil as a roaring lion walks about seeking whom he may devour.
9ועמדתם נגדו חזקים באמונה ודעו כי ענוים כאלה באו גם על אחיכם אשר בעולם׃
9Whom resist, stedfast in faith, knowing that the selfsame sufferings are accomplished in your brotherhood which [is] in [the] world.
10ואלהי כל החסד אשר קראנו לכבודו הנצחי במשיח ישוע אחרי ענותכם מעט הוא ישלים ויחזק ויגבר וייסד אתכם׃
10But the God of all grace who has called you to his eternal glory in Christ Jesus, when ye have suffered for a little while, himself shall make perfect, stablish, strengthen, ground:
11לו הכבוד והעז לעולמי עולמים אמן׃
11to him [be] the glory and the might for the ages of the ages. Amen.
12ביד סלונוס האח הנאמן לכם כאשר אחשב כתבתי אליכם בדברים מעטים להזהיר אתכם ולהעיד כי חסד האלהים הזה אשר עמדתם בו אמת הוא׃
12By Silvanus, the faithful brother, as I suppose, I have written to you briefly; exhorting and testifying that this is [the] true grace of God in which ye stand.
13חברתכם אשר בבבל הנבחרה אתכם ומרקוס בני שאלים לשלומכם׃
13She that is elected with [you] in Babylon salutes you, and Marcus my son.
14שאלו לשלום איש את רעהו בנשיקת אהבה שלום לכלכם אשר במשיח ישוע אמן׃
14Salute one another with a kiss of love. Peace be with you all who [are] in Christ.
