1פולוס וסלונוס וטימותיוס אל קהלת התסלוניקים באלהים האב ובאדון ישוע המשיח חסד לכם ושלום מאת אלהים אבינו ואדנינו ישוע המשיח׃
1Paul and Silvanus and Timotheus to the assembly of Thessalonians in God [the] Father and [the] Lord Jesus Christ. Grace to you and peace.
2נודה לאלהים על כלכם בכל עת בהזכיר אתכם בתפלותינו׃
2We give thanks to God always for you all, making mention of you at our prayers,
3בזכרנו תמיד לפני האלהים אבינו את פעל אמונתכם ויגיעת אהבתכם וסבלנות תקותכם לאדנינו ישוע המשיח׃
3remembering unceasingly your work of faith, and labour of love, and enduring constancy of hope, of our Lord Jesus Christ, before our God and Father;
4כי ידענו אחי חביבי האלהים את אשר נבחרתם׃
4knowing, brethren beloved by God, your election.
5באשר בשורתנו לא היתה לכם בדבור לבד כי גם בגבורה וברוח הקדש ובדעת נאמנה מאד כאשר ידעתם גם אתם את אשר היינו בתוככם למענכם׃
5For our glad tidings were not with you in word only, but also in power, and in [the] Holy Spirit, and in much assurance; even as ye know what we were among you for your sakes:
6ואתם הייתם הלכים בעקבותינו ובעקבות אדנינו בקבלכם את הדבר בתוך עני רב עם חדות רוח הקדש׃
6and *ye* became our imitators, and of the Lord, having accepted the word in much tribulation with joy of [the] Holy Spirit,
7עד היותכם מופת לכל המאמינים אשר במקדוניא ובאכיא׃
7so that ye became models to all that believe in Macedonia and in Achaia:
8כי מאתכם נשמע קול דבר יהוה לא לבד במקדוניא ואכיא כי אם בכל מקום יצאה אמונתכם באלהים עד שאין לנו צרך לדבר דבר׃
8for the word of the Lord sounded out from you, not only in Macedonia and Achaia, but in every place your faith which [is] towards God has gone abroad, so that we have no need to say anything;
9כי פיהם המספר מה היה מבואנו אליכם ואיך פניתם מעבודת אלילים ושבתם לאלהים לעבד את אל חי ואמתי׃
9for they themselves relate concerning us what entering in we had to you, and how ye turned to God from idols to serve a living and true God,
10ולחכות לבנו מן השמים אשר העירו מן המתים לישוע מצילנו מן החרון הבא׃
10and to await his Son from the heavens, whom he raised from among the dead, Jesus, our deliverer from the coming wrath.
