¹ויהי הגורל למטה בני יהודה למשפחתם אל גבול אדום מדבר צן נגבה מקצה תימן׃

¹And the lot of the tribe of the children of Judah according to their families was: to the border of Edom, the wilderness of Zin, southward, in the extreme south.

²ויהי להם גבול נגב מקצה ים המלח מן הלשן הפנה נגבה׃

²And their southern border was from the end of the salt sea, from the tongue that turns southward;

³ויצא אל מנגב למעלה עקרבים ועבר צנה ועלה מנגב לקדש ברנע ועבר חצרון ועלה אדרה ונסב הקרקעה׃

³and it went out south of the ascent of Akrabbim, and passed on to Zin, and went up on the south of Kadesh-barnea, and passed to Hezron, and went up toward Addar, and turned toward Karkaah,

⁴ועבר עצמונה ויצא נחל מצרים והיה תצאות הגבול ימה זה יהיה לכם גבול נגב׃

⁴and passed on to Azmon, and went out by the torrent of Egypt; and the border ended at the sea. That shall be your border southward.

⁵וגבול קדמה ים המלח עד קצה הירדן וגבול לפאת צפונה מלשון הים מקצה הירדן׃

⁵-- And the eastern border was the salt sea as far as the end of the Jordan. -- And the border on the north side was from the tongue of the salt sea, at the end of the Jordan;

⁶ועלה הגבול בית חגלה ועבר מצפון לבית הערבה ועלה הגבול אבן בהן בן ראובן׃

⁶and the border went up toward Beth-hoglah, and passed north of Beth-Arabah; and the border went up to the stone of Bohan, the son of Reuben;

⁷ועלה הגבול דברה מעמק עכור וצפונה פנה אל הגלגל אשר נכח למעלה אדמים אשר מנגב לנחל ועבר הגבול אל מי עין שמש והיו תצאתיו אל עין רגל׃

⁷and the border went up toward Debir from the valley of Achor, and turned northward to Gilgal, which is opposite to the ascent of Adummim, which is on the south side of the torrent; and the border passed to the waters of En-shemesh, and ended at En-rogel;

⁸ועלה הגבול גי בן הנם אל כתף היבוסי מנגב היא ירושלם ועלה הגבול אל ראש ההר אשר על פני גי הנם ימה אשר בקצה עמק רפאים צפנה׃

⁸and the border went up to the valley of the son of Hinnom, toward the south side of the Jebusite, that is, Jerusalem; and the border went up to the top of the mountain that is before the valley of Hinnom westward, which is at the end of the valley of Rephaim northward;

⁹ותאר הגבול מראש ההר אל מעין מי נפתוח ויצא אל ערי הר עפרון ותאר הגבול בעלה היא קרית יערים׃

⁹and the border reached along from the top of the mountain toward the spring of the waters of Nephtoah, and went out toward the cities of mount Ephron; and the border reached along to Baalah, that is, Kirjath-jearim;

¹⁰ונסב הגבול מבעלה ימה אל הר שעיר ועבר אל כתף הר יערים מצפונה היא כסלון וירד בית שמש ועבר תמנה׃

¹⁰and the border turned from Baalah westwards toward mount Seir, and passed toward the side of Har-jearim, that is, Chesalon, northwards, and went down to Beth-shemesh, and passed Timnah.

¹¹ויצא הגבול אל כתף עקרון צפונה ותאר הגבול שכרונה ועבר הר הבעלה ויצא יבנאל והיו תצאות הגבול ימה׃

¹¹And the border went out to the side of Ekron northwards, and the border reached along toward Shicron, and passed mount Baalah, and went toward Jabneel; and the border ended at the sea.

¹²וגבול ים הימה הגדול וגבול זה גבול בני יהודה סביב למשפחתם׃

¹²-- And the west border is the great sea and [its] coast. This is the border of the children of Judah round about, according to their families.

¹³ולכלב בן יפנה נתן חלק בתוך בני יהודה אל פי יהוה ליהושע את קרית ארבע אבי הענק היא חברון׃

¹³And to Caleb the son of Jephunneh he gave a portion among the children of Judah according to the commandment of Jehovah to Joshua, the city of Arba, the father of Anak, that is, Hebron.

¹⁴וירש משם כלב את שלושה בני הענק את ששי ואת אחימן ואת תלמי ילידי הענק׃

¹⁴And thence Caleb dispossessed the three sons of Anak, Sheshai and Ahiman and Talmai, who were born of Anak.

¹⁵ויעל משם אל ישבי דבר ושם דבר לפנים קרית ספר׃

¹⁵And from there he went up against the inhabitants of Debir; now the name of Debir before was Kirjath-sepher.

¹⁶ויאמר כלב אשר יכה את קרית ספר ולכדה ונתתי לו את עכסה בתי לאשה׃

¹⁶And Caleb said, He that smites Kirjath-sepher and takes it, to him will I give Achsah my daughter as wife.

¹⁷וילכדה עתניאל בן קנז אחי כלב ויתן לו את עכסה בתו לאשה׃

¹⁷And Othniel the son of Kenaz, the brother of Caleb, took it; and he gave him Achsah his daughter as wife.

¹⁸ויהי בבואה ותסיתהו לשאול מאת אביה שדה ותצנח מעל החמור ויאמר לה כלב מה לך׃

¹⁸And it came to pass as she came, that she urged him to ask of her father a field; and she sprang down from the ass. And Caleb said to her, What wouldest thou?

¹⁹ותאמר תנה לי ברכה כי ארץ הנגב נתתני ונתתה לי גלת מים ויתן לה את גלת עליות ואת גלת תחתיות׃

¹⁹And she said, Give me a blessing; for thou hast given me a southern land; give me also springs of water. Then he gave her the upper springs and the lower springs.

²⁰זאת נחלת מטה בני יהודה למשפחתם׃

²⁰This is the inheritance of the tribe of the children of Judah according to their families.

²¹ויהיו הערים מקצה למטה בני יהודה אל גבול אדום בנגבה קבצאל ועדר ויגור׃

²¹The cities at the extremity of the tribe of the children of Judah, toward the border of Edom in the south, were: Kabzeel, and Eder, and Jagur,

²²וקינה ודימונה ועדעדה׃

²²and Kinah, and Dimonah, and Adadah,

²³וקדש וחצור ויתנן׃

²³and Kedesh, and Hazor, and Jithnan,

²⁴זיף וטלם ובעלות׃

²⁴Ziph, and Telem, and Bealoth,

²⁵וחצור חדתה וקריות חצרון היא חצור׃

²⁵and Hazor-hadattah, and Kerioth-Hezron, that is Hazor,

²⁶אמם ושמע ומולדה׃

²⁶Amam, and Shema, and Molada,

²⁷וחצר גדה וחשמון ובית פלט׃

²⁷and Hazar-gaddah, and Heshmon, and Beth-Pelet,

²⁸וחצר שועל ובאר שבע ובזיותיה׃

²⁸and Hazar-Shual, and Beer-sheba, and Biziothiah;

²⁹בעלה ועיים ועצם׃

²⁹Baalah, and Ijim, and Ezem,

³⁰ואלתולד וכסיל וחרמה׃

³⁰and Eltolad, and Chesil, and Hormah,

³¹וצקלג ומדמנה וסנסנה׃

³¹and Ziklag, and Madmannah, and Sansanna,

³²ולבאות ושלחים ועין ורמון כל ערים עשרים ותשע וחצריהן׃

³²and Lebaoth, and Shilhim, and Ain, and Rimmon: all the cities twenty-nine, and their hamlets.

³³בשפלה אשתאול וצרעה ואשנה׃

³³-- In the lowland: Eshtaol, and Zoreah, and Ashnah,

³⁴וזנוח ועין גנים תפוח והעינם׃

³⁴and Zanoah, and En-gannim, Tappuah and Enam,

³⁵ירמות ועדלם שוכה ועזקה׃

³⁵Jarmuth and Adullam, Sochoh and Azekah,

³⁶ושערים ועדיתים והגדרה וגדרתים ערים ארבע עשרה וחצריהן׃

³⁶and Shaaraim, and Adithaim, and Gederah, and Gederothaim: fourteen cities and their hamlets.

³⁷צנן וחדשה ומגדל גד׃

³⁷Zenan, and Hadashah, and Migdal-Gad,

³⁸ודלען והמצפה ויקתאל׃

³⁸and Dilean, and Mizpeh, and Joktheel,

³⁹לכיש ובצקת ועגלון׃

³⁹Lachish, and Bozkath, and Eglon,

⁴⁰וכבון ולחמס וכתליש׃

⁴⁰and Cabbon, and Lahmas, and Chithlish,

⁴¹וגדרות בית דגון ונעמה ומקדה ערים שש עשרה וחצריהן׃

⁴¹and Gederoth, Beth-Dagon, and Naamah, and Makkedah: sixteen cities and their hamlets.

⁴²לבנה ועתר ועשן׃

⁴²Libna, and Ether, and Ashan,

⁴³ויפתח ואשנה ונציב׃

⁴³and Jiphthah, and Ashnah, and Nezib,

⁴⁴וקעילה ואכזיב ומראשה ערים תשע וחצריהן׃

⁴⁴and Keilah, and Achzib, and Mareshah: nine cities and their hamlets.

⁴⁵עקרון ובנתיה וחצריה׃

⁴⁵Ekron and its dependent villages and its hamlets.

⁴⁶מעקרון וימה כל אשר על יד אשדוד וחצריהן׃

⁴⁶From Ekron and westward all that are by the side of Ashdod, and their hamlets.

⁴⁷אשדוד בנותיה וחצריה עזה בנותיה וחצריה עד נחל מצרים והים הגבול וגבול׃

⁴⁷Ashdod, its dependent villages and its hamlets; Gazah, its dependent villages and its hamlets, as far as the torrent of Egypt, and the great sea and [its] coast.

⁴⁸ובהר שמיר ויתיר ושוכה׃

⁴⁸-- And in the hill-country: Shamir, and Jattir, and Sochoh,

⁴⁹ודנה וקרית סנה היא דבר׃

⁴⁹and Dannah, and Kirjath-sannah, that is, Debir,

⁵⁰וענב ואשתמה וענים׃

⁵⁰and Anab, and Eshtemoh, and Anim,

⁵¹וגשן וחלן וגלה ערים אחת עשרה וחצריהן׃

⁵¹and Goshen, and Holon, and Giloh: eleven cities and their hamlets.

⁵²ארב ורומה ואשען׃

⁵²Arab, and Dumah, and Eshan,

⁵³וינים ובית תפוח ואפקה׃

⁵³and Janum, and Beth-Tappuah, and Aphekah,

⁵⁴וחמטה וקרית ארבע היא חברון וציער ערים תשע וחצריהן׃

⁵⁴and Humtah, and Kirjath-Arba, that is, Hebron, and Zior: nine cities and their hamlets.

⁵⁵מעון כרמל וזיף ויוטה׃

⁵⁵Maon, Carmel, and Ziph, and Jutah,

⁵⁶ויזרעאל ויקדעם וזנוח׃

⁵⁶and Jizreel, and Jokdeam, and Zanoah,

⁵⁷הקין גבעה ותמנה ערים עשר וחצריהן׃

⁵⁷Kain, Gibeah and Timnah: ten cities and their hamlets.

⁵⁸חלחול בית צור וגדור׃

⁵⁸Halhul, Beth-Zur, and Gedor,

⁵⁹ומערת ובית ענות ואלתקן ערים שש וחצריהן׃

⁵⁹and Maarath, and Beth-anoth, and Eltekon: six cities and their hamlets.

⁶⁰קרית בעל היא קרית יערים והרבה ערים שתים וחצריהן׃

⁶⁰Kirjath-Baal, that is, Kirjath-jearim, and Rabbah: two cities and their hamlets.

⁶¹במדבר בית הערבה מדין וסככה׃

⁶¹-- In the wilderness: Beth-Arabah, Middin, and Secacah,

⁶²והנבשן ועיר המלח ועין גדי ערים שש וחצריהן׃

⁶²and Nibshan, and Ir-Hammelah, and En-gedi: six cities and their hamlets.

⁶³ואת היבוסי יושבי ירושלם לא יוכלו בני יהודה להורישם וישב היבוסי את בני יהודה בירושלם עד היום הזה׃

⁶³But as for the Jebusites, the inhabitants of Jerusalem, the children of Judah could not dispossess them; and the Jebusites dwell with the children of Judah at Jerusalem to this day.
