¹Ini pesan TUHAN tentang Moab. Kota Ar dan Kir dimusnahkan dalam waktu satu malam, dan negeri Moab menjadi sunyi sepi.

¹The burden of Moab. For in a night Ar of Moab is laid waste, [and] brought to nought; for in a night Kir of Moab is laid waste, [and] brought to nought.

²Penduduk Dibon mendaki bukit untuk menangis di tempat penyembahan dewa-dewa. Penduduk Moab dengan sedih meratapi kota Nebo dan Medeba. Mereka mencukur kepala dan janggut sebagai tanda berduka.

²They are gone up to Bayith, and to Dibon, to the high places, to weep: Moab waileth over Nebo, and over Medeba; on all their heads is baldness, every beard is cut off.

³Orang-orang di jalan berpakaian kain karung tanda berkabung; orang meratap dan menangis di tanah lapang dan di atap rumah.

³In their streets they gird themselves with sackcloth; on their housetops, and in their broad places, every one waileth, weeping abundantly.

⁴Orang Hesybon dan Eleale meraung-raung, dan suara mereka terdengar sampai di Yahas. Bahkan para prajurit gemetar; mereka sudah kehilangan keberanian.

⁴And Heshbon crieth out, and Elealeh; their voice is heard even unto Jahaz: therefore the armed men of Moab cry aloud; his soul trembleth within him.

⁵Aku kasihan kepada Moab! Penduduknya mengungsi ke kota Zoar dan ke Eglat-Selisia. Ada yang mendaki jalan ke Luhit sambil menangis; ada yang lari ke Horonaim sambil menjerit-jerit karena ditimpa bencana.

⁵My heart crieth out for Moab; her nobles [flee] unto Zoar, to Eglath-shelishi-yah: for by the ascent of Luhith with weeping they go up; for in the way of Horonaim they raise up a cry of destruction.

⁶Air Sungai Nimrim dan rumput yang tumbuh di tepinya sudah kering kerontang, tak ada lagi tumbuh-tumbuhan yang hijau.

⁶For the waters of Nimrim shall be desolate; for the grass is withered away, the tender grass faileth, there is no green thing.

⁷Orang-orang menyeberang anak sungai Haarabim dan berusaha menyelamatkan segala harta benda mereka.

⁷Therefore the abundance they have gotten, and that which they have laid up, shall they carry away over the brook of the willows.

⁸Di mana-mana di perbatasan Moab terdengar teriakan. Ratapan itu terdengar di Eglaim dan Beer-Elim.

⁸For the cry is gone round about the borders of Moab; the wailing thereof unto Eglaim, and the wailing thereof unto Beer-elim.

⁹Di Dibon air sungai menjadi merah karena bercampur darah. Dan Allah akan mendatangkan hal-hal yang lebih dahsyat lagi atas orang-orang di sana. Pembantai yang dikirim-Nya akan membunuh semua orang Moab yang masih hidup.

⁹For the waters of Dimon are full of blood; for I will bring yet more upon Dimon, a lion upon them of Moab that escape, and upon the remnant of the land.
