1Tetapi Ayub berkata, "Alangkah mahirnya kauberi pertolongan kepadaku orang yang lemah dan kepayahan!
1Then Job answered and said,
2(26:1)
2How hast thou helped him that is without power! How hast thou saved the arm that hath no strength!
3Alangkah baiknya nasihat dan ajaran itu yang telah kauberikan kepadaku, orang yang dungu!
3How hast thou counselled him that hath no wisdom, And plentifully declared sound knowledge!
4Kepada siapakah tuturmu itu tertuju? Siapa mengilhamimu untuk bicara seperti itu?"
4To whom hast thou uttered words? And whose spirit came forth from thee?
5Jawab Bildad, "Orang-orang di alam maut gemetar; air dan penghuninya bergeletar.
5They that are deceased tremble Beneath the waters and the inhabitants thereof.
6Di hadapan Allah, dunia orang mati terbuka, tak bertutup sehingga kelihatan oleh-Nya.
6Sheol is naked before [God], And Abaddon hath no covering.
7Allah membentangkan langit, di atas samudra, dan menggantungkan bumi pada ruang hampa.
7He stretcheth out the north over empty space, And hangeth the earth upon nothing.
8Dimuati-Nya awan dengan air berlimpah-limpah, namun awan itu tidak robek karena beratnya.
8He bindeth up the waters in his thick clouds; And the cloud is not rent under them.
9Disembunyikan-Nya wajah bulan purnama di balik awan yang telah dibentangkan-Nya.
9He incloseth the face of his throne, And spreadeth his cloud upon it.
10Digambar-Nya lingkaran pada muka lautan untuk memisahkan terang dari kegelapan.
10He hath described a boundary upon the face of the waters, Unto the confines of light and darkness.
11Bila Ia menghardik dengan suara menggelegar, tiang-tiang penyangga langit gemetar.
11The pillars of heaven tremble And are astonished at his rebuke.
12Samudra ditaklukkan oleh kuasa-Nya dan Rahab pun dihajar oleh kemahiran-Nya.
12He stirreth up the sea with his power, And by his understanding he smiteth through Rahab.
13Napas-Nya menyapu langit hingga cerah sekali; tangan-Nya membunuh naga yang nyaris lari.
13By his Spirit the heavens are garnished; His hand hath pierced the swift serpent.
14Tetapi semua itu hanya pertanda kuasa-Nya; hanya bisikan yang sampai di telinga kita. Betapa sedikit pengertian kita tentang Allah dan hebatnya kuasa-Nya!"
14Lo, these are but the outskirts of his ways: And how small a whisper do we hear of him! But the thunder of his power who can understand?
