¹Di tepi sungai-sungai Babel kami duduk dan menangis bila teringat Sion.

¹By the rivers of Babylon, There we sat down, yea, we wept, When we remembered Zion.

²Pada pohon-pohon gandarusa di negeri itu kami gantungkan kecapi kami.

²Upon the willows in the midst thereof We hanged up our harps.

³Orang-orang yang menawan kami menyuruh kami menyanyi untuk mereka. Orang-orang yang menindas kami menyuruh kami menyanyikan lagu-lagu gembira, "Nyanyikanlah bagi kami lagu-lagu dari Sion!"

³For there they that led us captive required of us songs, And they that wasted us [required of us] mirth, [saying], Sing us one of the songs of Zion.

⁴Mungkinkah di negeri asing kami menyanyi bagi TUHAN?

⁴How shall we sing Jehovah's song In a foreign land?

⁵Biarlah aku tak bisa lagi menyanyi jika aku melupakan engkau, Yerusalem!

⁵If I forget thee, O Jerusalem, Let my right hand forget [her skill].

⁶Biarlah aku tak bisa lagi menyanyi jika aku melupakan engkau dan tidak menjadikan engkau kesukaanku!

⁶Let my tongue cleave to the roof of my mouth, If I remember thee not; If I prefer not Jerusalem Above my chief joy.

⁷Ya TUHAN, ingatlah perbuatan orang Edom pada waktu Yerusalem dimusnahkan. Mereka berkata, "Robohkanlah, robohkanlah sampai ke dasar-dasarnya!"

⁷Remember, O Jehovah, against the children of Edom The day of Jerusalem; Who said, Rase it, rase it, Even to the foundation thereof.

⁸Hai Babel, engkau akan dibinasakan! Berbahagialah orang yang membalas kepadamu kejahatan yang kaulakukan terhadap kami.

⁸O daughter of Babylon, that art to be destroyed, Happy shall he be, that rewardeth thee As thou hast served us.

⁹Berbahagialah orang yang mengambil bayi-bayimu dan mencampakkannya ke bukit batu!

⁹Happy shall he be, that taketh and dasheth thy little ones Against the rock.
