¹Raja Daud berunding dengan semua perwiranya yang memimpin kesatuan-kesatuan 1.000 orang dan kesatuan-kesatuan 100 orang.

¹David consulted with the captains of thousands and of hundreds, even with every leader.

²Lalu ia berkata kepada semua orang itu, "Kalau saudara-saudara setuju, dan diperkenankan TUHAN, Allah kita, baiklah kita mengirim utusan kepada para imam dan orang-orang Lewi di desa-desa mereka, serta seluruh bangsa kita yang lainnya untuk menyuruh mereka datang berkumpul dengan kita di sini.

²David said to all the assembly of Israel, “If it seems good to you, and if it is of Yahweh our God, let us send abroad everywhere to our brothers who are left in all the land of Israel, with whom the priests and Levites are in their cities that have suburbs, that they may gather themselves to us;

³Kemudian kita pergi mengambil Peti Perjanjian Allah, yang telah dibiarkan terlantar selama pemerintahan Raja Saul."

³and let us bring again the ark of our God to us. For we didn’t seek it in the days of Saul.”

⁴Semua orang Israel yang berkumpul itu senang dengan usul itu dan menyetujuinya.

⁴All the assembly said that they would do so; for the thing was right in the eyes of all the people.

⁵Maka Daud mengumpulkan rakyat Israel di seluruh negeri, dari perbatasan Mesir di selatan sampai ke Jalan Hamat di utara, untuk mengambil Peti Perjanjian itu dari Kiryat-Yearim dan membawanya ke Yerusalem.

⁵So David assembled all Israel together, from the Shihor the brook of Egypt even to the entrance of Hamath, to bring the ark of God from Kiriath Jearim.

⁶Lalu Daud pergi bersama mereka ke kota Baala, yaitu Kiryat-Yearim, di wilayah suku Yehuda untuk mengambil Peti Perjanjian Allah. Peti itu dinamakan "TUHAN yang bertakhta di atas kerub".

⁶David went up, and all Israel, to Baalah, that is, to Kiriath Jearim, which belonged to Judah, to bring up from there the ark of God Yahweh that sits above the cherubim, that is called by the Name.

⁷Setibanya di Baala, mereka mengambil Peti Perjanjian itu dari rumah Abinadab, lalu menaikkannya ke atas sebuah pedati yang baru. Uza dan Ahyo mengiringi pedati itu,

⁷They carried the ark of God on a new cart, and brought it out of the house of Abinadab: and Uzza and Ahio drove the cart.

⁸sedangkan Daud dan seluruh bangsa Israel menari-nari dan bernyanyi-nyanyi dengan penuh semangat, untuk menghormati Allah diiringi kecapi, rebana, simbal dan trompet.

⁸David and all Israel played before God with all their might, even with songs, and with harps, and with stringed instruments, and with tambourines, and with cymbals, and with trumpets.

⁹Ketika mereka sampai di tempat pengirikan gandum milik Kidon, sapi-sapi yang menarik pedati itu tersandung, maka Uza mengulurkan tangannya dan memegang Peti Perjanjian itu supaya jangan jatuh.

⁹When they came to the threshing floor of Chidon, Uzza put forth his hand to hold the ark; for the oxen stumbled.

¹⁰Saat itu juga TUHAN marah kepada Uza karena perbuatannya itu merupakan penghinaan kepada TUHAN. Lalu Uza dibunuh-Nya di situ. Maka sejak itu tempat itu disebut "Peres-Uza". Daud marah karena TUHAN membinasakan Uza.

¹⁰The anger of Yahweh was kindled against Uzza, and he struck him, because he put forth his hand to the ark; and there he died before God.

¹¹(13:10)

¹¹David was displeased, because Yahweh had broken forth on Uzza; and he called that place Perez Uzza, to this day.

¹²Tetapi Daud takut juga kepada Allah dan berkata, "Sekarang bagaimana Peti Perjanjian itu dapat kubawa?"

¹²David was afraid of God that day, saying, “How shall I bring the ark of God home to me?”

¹³Sebab itu Daud tidak jadi membawa Peti itu ke Yerusalem, melainkan menyimpannya di rumah Obed-Edom, orang Gat.

¹³So David didn’t move the ark to him into the city of David, but carried it aside into the house of Obed-Edom the Gittite.

¹⁴Peti itu tinggal di situ tiga bulan lamanya dan TUHAN memberkati keluarga Obed-Edom serta semua yang dimilikinya.

¹⁴The ark of God remained with the family of Obed-Edom in his house three months: and Yahweh blessed the house of Obed-Edom, and all that he had.
