¹After this it happened, that David struck the Philistines, and subdued them, and took Gath and its towns out of the hand of the Philistines.

²彼はまたモアブを撃った。モアブびとはダビデのしもべとなって、みつぎを納めた。

²He struck Moab; and the Moabites became servants to David, and brought tribute.

³ダビデはまた、ハマテのゾバの王ハダデゼルがユフラテ川のほとりに、その記念碑を建てようとして行ったとき彼を撃った。

³David struck Hadadezer king of Zobah to Hamath, as he went to establish his dominion by the river Euphrates.

⁴そしてダビデは彼から戦車一千、騎兵七千人、歩兵二万人を取った。ダビデは一百の戦車の馬を残して、そのほかの戦車の馬はみなその足の筋を切った。

⁴David took from him one thousand chariots, and seven thousand horsemen, and twenty thousand footmen; and David hamstrung all the chariot horses, but reserved of them for one hundred chariots.

⁵その時ダマスコのスリヤびとがゾバの王ハダデゼルを助けるために来たので、ダビデはそのスリヤびと二万二千人を殺した。

⁵When the Syrians of Damascus came to help Hadadezer king of Zobah, David struck of the Syrians twenty-two thousand men.

⁶そしてダビデはダマスコのスリヤに守備隊を置いた。スリヤびとはみつぎを納めてダビデのしもべとなった。主はダビデにすべてその行く所で勝利を与えられた。

⁶Then David put garrisons in Syria of Damascus; and the Syrians became servants to David, and brought tribute. Yahweh gave victory to David wherever he went.

⁷ダビデはハダデゼルのしもべらが持っていた金の盾を奪って、エルサレムに持ってきた。

⁷David took the shields of gold that were on the servants of Hadadezer, and brought them to Jerusalem.

⁸またハダデゼルの町テブハテとクンからダビデは非常に多くの青銅を取った。ソロモンはそれを用いて青銅の海、柱および青銅の器を造った。

⁸From Tibhath and from Cun, cities of Hadadezer, David took very much brass, with which Solomon made the bronze sea, and the pillars, and the vessels of brass.

⁹時にハマテの王トイはダビデがゾバの王ハダデゼルのすべての軍勢を撃ち破ったことを聞き、

⁹When Tou king of Hamath heard that David had struck all the army of Hadadezer king of Zobah,

¹⁰その子ハドラムをダビデ王につかわして、彼にあいさつさせ、かつ祝を述べさせた。ハダデゼルはかつてしばしばトイと戦いを交えたが、ダビデはハダデゼルと戦って、これを撃ち破ったからである。ハドラムは金、銀および青銅のさまざまの器を贈ったので、

¹⁰he sent Hadoram his son to king David, to Greet him, and to bless him, because he had fought against Hadadezer and struck him; (for Hadadezer had wars with Tou;) and he had with him all kinds of vessels of gold and silver and brass.

¹¹ダビデ王はこれをエドム、モアブ、アンモンの人々、ペリシテびと、アマクレなどの諸国民のうちから取ってきた金銀とともに、主にささげた。

¹¹King David also dedicated these to Yahweh, with the silver and the gold that he carried away from all the nations; from Edom, and from Moab, and from the children of Ammon, and from the Philistines, and from Amalek.

¹²ゼルヤの子アビシャイは塩の谷で、エドムびと一万八千を撃ち殺した。

¹²Moreover Abishai the son of Zeruiah struck of the Edomites in the Valley of Salt eighteen thousand.

¹³ダビデはエドムに守備隊を置き、エドムびとは皆ダビデのしもべとなった。主はダビデにすべてその行く所で勝利を与えられた。

¹³He put garrisons in Edom; and all the Edomites became servants to David. Yahweh gave victory to David wherever he went.

¹⁴こうしてダビデはイスラエルの全地を治め、そのすべての民に公道と正義を行った。

¹⁴David reigned over all Israel; and he executed justice and righteousness to all his people.

¹⁵ゼルヤの子ヨアブは軍の長、アヒルデの子ヨシャパテは史官、

¹⁵Joab the son of Zeruiah was over the army; and Jehoshaphat the son of Ahilud was recorder;

¹⁶アヒトブの子ザドクとアビヤタルの子アビメレクは祭司、シャウシャは書記官、エホヤダの子ベナヤはケレテびととペレテびとの長、ダビデの子たちは王のかたわらにはべる大臣であった。

¹⁶and Zadok the son of Ahitub, and Abimelech the son of Abiathar, were priests; and Shavsha was scribe;

¹⁷エホヤダの子ベナヤはケレテびととペレテびとの長、ダビデの子たちは王のかたわらにはべる大臣であった。

¹⁷and Benaiah the son of Jehoiada was over the Cherethites and the Pelethites; and the sons of David were chief about the king.
