¹ダビデは老い、その日が満ちたので、その子ソロモンをイスラエルの王とした。

¹Now David was old and full of days; and he made Solomon his son king over Israel.

²ダビデはイスラエルのすべてのつかさおよび祭司とレビびとを集めた。

²He gathered together all the princes of Israel, with the priests and the Levites.

³レビびとの三十歳以上のものを数えると、その男の数が三万八千人あった。

³The Levites were numbered from thirty years old and upward: and their number by their polls, man by man, was thirty-eight thousand.

⁴ダビデは言った、「そのうち二万四千人は主の家の仕事をつかさどり、六千人はつかさびと、およびさばきびととなり、

⁴David said, “Of these, twenty-four thousand were to oversee the work of the house of Yahweh; six thousand were officers and judges;

⁵四千人は門を守る者となり、また四千人はさんびのためにわたしの造った楽器で主をたたえよ」。

⁵four thousand were doorkeepers; and four thousand praised Yahweh with the instruments which I made, for giving praise.”

⁶そしてダビデは彼らをレビの子らにしたがってゲルション、コハテ、メラリの組に分けた。

⁶David divided them into divisions according to the sons of Levi: Gershon, Kohath, and Merari.

⁷ゲルションの子らはラダンとシメイ。

⁷Of the Gershonites: Ladan and Shimei.

⁸ラダンの子らは、かしらのエヒエルとゼタムとヨエルの三人。

⁸The sons of Ladan: Jehiel the chief, and Zetham, and Joel, three.

⁹シメイの子らはシロミテ、ハジエル、ハランの三人。これらはラダンの氏族の長であった。

⁹The sons of Shimei: Shelomoth, and Haziel, and Haran, three. These were the heads of the fathers’ households of Ladan.

¹⁰シメイの子らはヤハテ、ジナ、エウシ、ベリアの四人。皆シメイの子で、

¹⁰The sons of Shimei: Jahath, Zina, and Jeush, and Beriah. These four were the sons of Shimei.

¹¹ヤハテはかしら、ジザはその次、エウシとベリアは子が多くなかったので、ともに数えられて一つの氏族となった。

¹¹Jahath was the chief, and Zizah the second: but Jeush and Beriah didn’t have many sons; therefore they became a fathers’ house in one reckoning.

¹²コハテの子らはアムラム、イヅハル、ヘブロン、ウジエルの四人。

¹²The sons of Kohath: Amram, Izhar, Hebron, and Uzziel, four.

¹³アムラムの子らはアロンとモーセである。アロンはその子らとともに、ながくいと聖なるものを聖別するために分かたれて、主の前に香をたき、主に仕え、常に主の名をもって祝福することをなした。

¹³The sons of Amram: Aaron and Moses; and Aaron was separated, that he should sanctify the most holy things, he and his sons, forever, to burn incense before Yahweh, to minister to him, and to bless in his name, forever.

¹⁴神の人モーセの子らはレビの部族のうちに数えられた。

¹⁴But as for Moses the man of God, his sons were named among the tribe of Levi.

¹⁵モーセの子らはゲルションとエリエゼル。

¹⁵The sons of Moses: Gershom and Eliezer.

¹⁶ゲルションの子らは、かしらはシブエル。

¹⁶The sons of Gershom: Shebuel the chief.

¹⁷エリエゼルの子らは、かしらはレハビヤ。エリエゼルにはこのほかに子がなかった。しかしレハビヤの子らは非常に多かった。

¹⁷The sons of Eliezer were: Rehabiah the chief; and Eliezer had no other sons; but the sons of Rehabiah were very many.

¹⁸イヅハルの子らは、かしらはシロミテ。

¹⁸The sons of Izhar: Shelomith the chief.

¹⁹ヘブロンの子らは長子はエリヤ、次はアマリヤ、第三はヤハジエル、第四はエカメアム。

¹⁹The sons of Hebron: Jeriah the chief, Amariah the second, Jahaziel the third, and Jekameam the fourth.

²⁰ウジエルの子らは、かしらはミカ、次はイシアである。

²⁰The sons of Uzziel: Micah the chief, and Isshiah the second.

²¹メラリの子らはマヘリとムシ。マヘリの子らはエレアザルとキシ。

²¹The sons of Merari: Mahli and Mushi. The sons of Mahli: Eleazar and Kish.

²²エレアザルは男の子がなくて死に、ただ娘たちだけであったが、キシの子であるその身内の男たちが彼女たちをめとった。

²²Eleazar died, and had no sons, but daughters only: and their brothers the sons of Kish took them as wives.

²³ムシの子らはマヘリ、エデル、エレモテの三人である。

²³The sons of Mushi: Mahli, and Eder, and Jeremoth, three.

²⁴これらはその氏族によるレビの子孫であって、その人数が数えられ、その名がしるされて、主の家の務をなした二十歳以上の者で、氏族の長であった。

²⁴These were the sons of Levi after their fathers’ houses, even the heads of the fathers’ houses of those who were counted individually, in the number of names by their polls, who did the work for the service of the house of Yahweh, from twenty years old and upward.

²⁵ダビデは言った、「イスラエルの神、主はその民に平安を与え、ながくエルサレムに住まわれる。

²⁵For David said, “Yahweh, the God of Israel, has given rest to his people; and he dwells in Jerusalem forever.

²⁶レビびとは重ねて幕屋およびその勤めの器物をかつぐことはない。

²⁶Also the Levites will no longer need to carry the tabernacle and all its vessels for its service.”

²⁷――ダビデの最後の言葉によって、レビびとは二十歳以上の者が数えられた――

²⁷For by the last words of David the sons of Levi were numbered, from twenty years old and upward.

²⁸彼らの務はアロンの子孫を助けて主の家の働きをし、庭とへやの仕事およびすべての聖なるものを清めること、そのほか、すべて神の家の働きをすることである。

²⁸For their office was to wait on the sons of Aaron for the service of the house of Yahweh, in the courts, and in the rooms, and in the purifying of all holy things, even the work of the service of God’s house;

²⁹また供えのパン、素祭の麦粉、種入れぬ菓子、焼いた供え物、油をまぜた供え物をつかさどり、またすべて分量および大きさを量ることをつかさどり、

²⁹for the show bread also, and for the fine flour for a meal offering, whether of unleavened wafers, or of that which is baked in the pan, or of that which is soaked, and for all kinds of measure and size;

³⁰また朝ごとに立って主に感謝し、さんびし、夕にもまたそのようにし、

³⁰and to stand every morning to thank and praise Yahweh, and likewise in the evening;

³¹また安息日と新月と祭日に、主にもろもろの燔祭をささげるときは、絶えず主の前にその命じられた数にしたがってささげなければならない。このようにして彼らは会見の幕屋と聖所の務を守り、主の家の働きのためにその兄弟であるアロンの子らに仕えなければならない」。

³¹and to offer all burnt offerings to Yahweh, on the Sabbaths, on the new moons, and on the set feasts, in number according to the ordinance concerning them, continually before Yahweh;

³²このようにして彼らは会見の幕屋と聖所の務を守り、主の家の働きのためにその兄弟であるアロンの子らに仕えなければならない」。

³²and that they should keep the duty of the Tent of Meeting, and the duty of the holy place, and the duty of the sons of Aaron their brothers, for the service of the house of Yahweh.
