¹そこで、まず第一に勧める。すべての人のために、王たちと上に立っているすべての人々のために、願いと、祈と、とりなしと、感謝とをささげなさい。

¹I exhort therefore, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercessions, and givings of thanks, be made for all men:

²それはわたしたちが、安らかで静かな一生を、真に信心深くまた謹厳に過ごすためである。

²for kings and all who are in high places; that we may lead a tranquil and quiet life in all godliness and reverence.

³これは、わたしたちの救主である神のみまえに良いことであり、また、みこころにかなうことである。

³For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior;

⁴神は、すべての人が救われて、真理を悟るに至ることを望んでおられる。

⁴who desires all people to be saved and come to full knowledge of the truth.

⁵神は唯一であり、神と人との間の仲保者もただひとりであって、それは人なるキリスト・イエスである。

⁵For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus,

⁶彼は、すべての人のあがないとしてご自身をささげられたが、それは、定められた時になされたあかしにほかならない。

⁶who gave himself as a ransom for all; the testimony in its own times;

⁷そのために、わたしは立てられて宣教者、使徒となり（わたしは真実を言っている、偽ってはいない）、また異邦人に信仰と真理とを教える教師となったのである。

⁷to which I was appointed a preacher and an apostle (I am telling the truth in Christ, not lying), a teacher of the Gentiles in faith and truth.

⁸男は、怒ったり争ったりしないで、どんな場所でも、きよい手をあげて祈ってほしい。

⁸I desire therefore that the men in every place pray, lifting up holy hands without anger and doubting.

⁹また、女はつつましい身なりをし、適度に慎み深く身を飾るべきであって、髪を編んだり、金や真珠をつけたり、高価な着物を着たりしてはいけない。

⁹In the same way, that women also adorn themselves in decent clothing, with modesty and propriety; not just with braided hair, gold, pearls, or expensive clothing;

¹⁰むしろ、良いわざをもって飾りとすることが、信仰を言いあらわしている女に似つかわしい。

¹⁰but (which becomes women professing godliness) with good works.

¹¹女は静かにしていて、万事につけ従順に教を学ぶがよい。

¹¹Let a woman learn in quietness with all subjection.

¹²女が教えたり、男の上に立ったりすることを、わたしは許さない。むしろ、静かにしているべきである。

¹²But I don’t permit a woman to teach, nor to exercise authority over a man, but to be in quietness.

¹³なぜなら、アダムがさきに造られ、それからエバが造られたからである。

¹³For Adam was first formed, then Eve.

¹⁴またアダムは惑わされなかったが、女は惑わされて、あやまちを犯した。しかし、女が慎み深く、信仰と愛と清さとを持ち続けるなら、子を産むことによって救われるであろう。

¹⁴Adam wasn’t deceived, but the woman, being deceived, has fallen into disobedience;

¹⁵しかし、女が慎み深く、信仰と愛と清さとを持ち続けるなら、子を産むことによって救われるであろう。

¹⁵but she will be saved through her childbearing, if they continue in faith, love, and sanctification with sobriety.
