¹最後に、兄弟たちよ。わたしたちのために祈ってほしい。どうか主の言葉が、あなたがたの所と同じように、ここでも早く広まり、また、あがめられるように。

¹Finally, brothers, pray for us, that the word of the Lord may spread rapidly and be glorified, even as also with you;

²また、どうか、わたしたちが不都合な悪人から救われるように。事実、すべての人が信仰を持っているわけではない。

²and that we may be delivered from unreasonable and evil men; for not all have faith.

³しかし、主は真実なかたであるから、あなたがたを強め、悪しき者から守って下さるであろう。

³But the Lord is faithful, who will establish you, and guard you from the evil one.

⁴わたしたちが命じる事を、あなたがたは現に実行しており、また、実行するであろうと、わたしたちは、主にあって確信している。

⁴We have confidence in the Lord concerning you, that you both do and will do the things we command.

⁵どうか、主があなたがたの心を導いて、神の愛とキリストの忍耐とを持たせて下さるように。

⁵May the Lord direct your hearts into the love of God, and into the patience of Christ.

⁶兄弟たちよ。主イエス・キリストの名によってあなたがたに命じる。怠惰な生活をして、わたしたちから受けた言伝えに従わないすべての兄弟たちから、遠ざかりなさい。

⁶Now we command you, brothers, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that you withdraw yourselves from every brother who walks in rebellion, and not after the tradition which they received from us.

⁷わたしたちに、どうならうべきであるかは、あなたがた自身が知っているはずである。あなたがたの所にいた時には、わたしたちは怠惰な生活をしなかったし、

⁷For you know how you ought to imitate us. For we didn’t behave ourselves rebelliously among you,

⁸人からパンをもらって食べることもしなかった。それどころか、あなたがたのだれにも負担をかけまいと、日夜、労苦し努力して働き続けた。

⁸neither did we eat bread from anyone’s hand without paying for it, but in labor and travail worked night and day, that we might not burden any of you;

⁹それは、わたしたちにその権利がないからではなく、ただわたしたちにあなたがたが見習うように、身をもって模範を示したのである。

⁹not because we don’t have the right, but to make ourselves an example to you, that you should imitate us.

¹⁰また、あなたがたの所にいた時に、「働こうとしない者は、食べることもしてはならない」と命じておいた。

¹⁰For even when we were with you, we commanded you this: “If anyone will not work, neither let him eat.”

¹¹ところが、聞くところによると、あなたがたのうちのある者は怠惰な生活を送り、働かないで、ただいたずらに動きまわっているとのことである。

¹¹For we hear of some who walk among you in rebellion, who don’t work at all, but are busybodies.

¹²こうした人々に対しては、静かに働いて自分で得たパンを食べるように、主イエス・キリストによって命じまた勧める。

¹²Now those who are that way, we command and exhort in the Lord Jesus Christ, that with quietness they work, and eat their own bread.

¹³兄弟たちよ。あなたがたは、たゆまずに良い働きをしなさい。

¹³But you, brothers, don’t be weary in doing well.

¹⁴もしこの手紙にしるしたわたしたちの言葉に聞き従わない人があれば、そのような人には注意をして、交際しないがよい。彼が自ら恥じるようになるためである。

¹⁴If any man doesn’t obey our word in this letter, note that man, that you have no company with him, to the end that he may be ashamed.

¹⁵しかし、彼を敵のように思わないで、兄弟として訓戒しなさい。

¹⁵Don’t count him as an enemy, but admonish him as a brother.

¹⁶どうか、平和の主ご自身が、いついかなる場合にも、あなたがたに平和を与えて下さるように。主があなたがた一同と共におられるように。

¹⁶Now may the Lord of peace himself give you peace at all times in all ways. The Lord be with you all.

¹⁷ここでパウロ自身が、手ずからあいさつを書く。これは、わたしのどの手紙にも書く印である。わたしは、このように書く。どうか、わたしたちの主イエス・キリストの恵みが、あなたがた一同と共にあるように。
