¹いったい、律法はきたるべき良いことの影をやどすにすぎず、そのものの真のかたちをそなえているものではないから、年ごとに引きつづきささげられる同じようないけにえによっても、みまえに近づいて来る者たちを、全うすることはできないのである。

¹For the law, having a shadow of the good to come, not the very image of the things, can never with the same sacrifices year by year, which they offer continually, make perfect those who draw near.

²もしできたとすれば、儀式にたずさわる者たちは、一度きよめられた以上、もはや罪の自覚がなくなるのであるから、ささげ物をすることがやんだはずではあるまいか。

²Or else wouldn’t they have ceased to be offered, because the worshippers, having been once cleansed, would have had no more consciousness of sins?

³しかし実際は、年ごとに、いけにえによって罪の思い出がよみがえって来るのである。

³But in those sacrifices there is a yearly reminder of sins.

⁴なぜなら、雄牛ややぎなどの血は、罪を除き去ることができないからである。

⁴For it is impossible that the blood of bulls and goats should take away sins.

⁵それだから、キリストがこの世にこられたとき、次のように言われた、「あなたは、いけにえやささげ物を望まれないで、わたしのために、からだを備えて下さった。

⁵Therefore when he comes into the world, he says, “Sacrifice and offering you didn’t desire, but you prepared a body for me;

⁶あなたは燔祭や罪祭を好まれなかった。

⁷その時、わたしは言った、『神よ、わたしにつき、巻物の書物に書いてあるとおり、見よ、御旨を行うためにまいりました』」。

⁷Then I said, ‘Behold, I have come (in the scroll of the book it is written of me) to do your will, O God.’” Psalm 40:6-8

⁸ここで、初めに、「あなたは、いけにえとささげ物と燔祭と罪祭と（すなわち、律法に従ってささげられるもの）を望まれず、好まれもしなかった」とあり、

⁸Previously saying, “Sacrifices and offerings and whole burnt offerings and sacrifices for sin you didn’t desire, neither had pleasure in them” (those which are offered according to the law),

⁹次に、「見よ、わたしは御旨を行うためにまいりました」とある。すなわち、彼は、後のものを立てるために、初めのものを廃止されたのである。

⁹then he has said, “Behold, I have come to do your will.” He takes away the first, that he may establish the second,

¹⁰この御旨に基きただ一度イエス・キリストのからだがささげられたことによって、わたしたちはきよめられたのである。

¹⁰by which will we have been sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all.

¹¹こうして、すべての祭司は立って日ごとに儀式を行い、たびたび同じようないけにえをささげるが、それらは決して罪を除き去ることはできない。

¹¹Every priest indeed stands day by day serving and often offering the same sacrifices, which can never take away sins,

¹²しかるに、キリストは多くの罪のために一つの永遠のいけにえをささげた後、神の右に座し、

¹²but he, when he had offered one sacrifice for sins forever, sat down on the right hand of God;

¹³それから、敵をその足台とするときまで、待っておられる。

¹³from that time waiting until his enemies are made the footstool of his feet.

¹⁴彼は一つのささげ物によって、きよめられた者たちを永遠に全うされたのである。

¹⁴For by one offering he has perfected forever those who are being sanctified.

¹⁵聖霊もまた、わたしたちにあかしをして、

¹⁵The Holy Spirit also testifies to us, for after saying,

¹⁶「わたしが、それらの日の後、彼らに対して立てようとする契約はこれであると、主が言われる。わたしの律法を彼らの心に与え、彼らの思いのうちに書きつけよう」と言い、

¹⁶“This is the covenant that I will make with them: ‘After those days,’ says the Lord, ‘I will put my laws on their heart, I will also write them on their mind;’” Jeremiah 31:33 then he says,

¹⁷さらに、「もはや、彼らの罪と彼らの不法とを、思い出すことはしない」と述べている。

¹⁷“I will remember their sins and their iniquities no more.” Jeremiah 31:34

¹⁸これらのことに対するゆるしがある以上、罪のためのささげ物は、もはやあり得ない。

¹⁸Now where remission of these is, there is no more offering for sin.

¹⁹兄弟たちよ。こういうわけで、わたしたちはイエスの血によって、はばかることなく聖所にはいることができ、

¹⁹Having therefore, brothers, boldness to enter into the holy place by the blood of Jesus,

²⁰彼の肉体なる幕をとおり、わたしたちのために開いて下さった新しい生きた道をとおって、はいって行くことができるのであり、

²⁰by the way which he dedicated for us, a new and living way, through the veil, that is to say, his flesh;

²¹さらに、神の家を治める大いなる祭司があるのだから、

²¹and having a great priest over God’s house,

²²心はすすがれて良心のとがめを去り、からだは清い水で洗われ、まごころをもって信仰の確信に満たされつつ、みまえに近づこうではないか。

²²let’s draw near with a true heart in fullness of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience, and having our body washed with pure water,

²³また、約束をして下さったのは忠実なかたであるから、わたしたちの告白する望みを、動くことなくしっかりと持ち続け、

²³let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering; for he who promised is faithful.

²⁴愛と善行とを励むように互に努め、

²⁴Let us consider how to provoke one another to love and good works,

²⁵ある人たちがいつもしているように、集会をやめることはしないで互に励まし、かの日が近づいているのを見て、ますます、そうしようではないか。

²⁵not forsaking our own assembling together, as the custom of some is, but exhorting one another; and so much the more, as you see the Day approaching.

²⁶もしわたしたちが、真理の知識を受けたのちにもなお、ことさらに罪を犯しつづけるなら、罪のためのいけにえは、もはやあり得ない。

²⁶For if we sin willfully after we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remains no more a sacrifice for sins,

²⁷ただ、さばきと、逆らう者たちを焼きつくす激しい火とを、恐れつつ待つことだけがある。

²⁷but a certain fearful expectation of judgment, and a fierceness of fire which will devour the adversaries.

²⁸モーセの律法を無視する者が、あわれみを受けることなしに、二、三の人の証言に基いて死刑に処せられるとすれば、

²⁸A man who disregards Moses’ law dies without compassion on the word of two or three witnesses.

²⁹神の子を踏みつけ、自分がきよめられた契約の血を汚れたものとし、さらに恵みの御霊を侮る者は、どんなにか重い刑罰に価することであろう。

²⁹How much worse punishment, do you think, will he be judged worthy of, who has trodden under foot the Son of God, and has counted the blood of the covenant with which he was sanctified an unholy thing, and has insulted the Spirit of grace?

³⁰「復讐はわたしのすることである。わたし自身が報復する」と言われ、また「主はその民をさばかれる」と言われたかたを、わたしたちは知っている。

³⁰For we know him who said, “Vengeance belongs to me,” says the Lord, “I will repay.” Deuteronomy 32:35 Again, “The Lord will judge his people.” Deuteronomy 32:36; Psalm 135:14

³¹生ける神のみ手のうちに落ちるのは、恐ろしいことである。

³¹It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God.

³²あなたがたは、光に照されたのち、苦しい大きな戦いによく耐えた初めのころのことを、思い出してほしい。

³²But remember the former days, in which, after you were enlightened, you endured a great struggle with sufferings;

³³そしられ苦しめられて見せ物にされたこともあれば、このようなめに会った人々の仲間にされたこともあった。

³³partly, being exposed to both reproaches and oppressions; and partly, becoming partakers with those who were treated so.

³⁴さらに獄に入れられた人々を思いやり、また、もっとまさった永遠の宝を持っていることを知って、自分の財産が奪われても喜んでそれを忍んだ。

³⁴For you both had compassion on me in my chains, and joyfully accepted the plundering of your possessions, knowing that you have for yourselves a better possession and an enduring one in the heavens.

³⁵だから、あなたがたは自分の持っている確信を放棄してはいけない。その確信には大きな報いが伴っているのである。

³⁵Therefore don’t throw away your boldness, which has a great reward.

³⁶神の御旨を行って約束のものを受けるため、あなたがたに必要なのは、忍耐である。

³⁶For you need endurance so that, having done the will of God, you may receive the promise.

³⁷「もうしばらくすれば、きたるべきかたがお見えになる。遅くなることはない。

³⁷“In a very little while, he who comes will come, and will not wait.

³⁸わが義人は、信仰によって生きる。もし信仰を捨てるなら、わたしのたましいはこれを喜ばない」。しかしわたしたちは、信仰を捨てて滅びる者ではなく、信仰に立って、いのちを得る者である。

³⁸But the righteous will live by faith. If he shrinks back, my soul has no pleasure in him.” Habakkuk 2:3-4

³⁹But we are not of those who shrink back to destruction, but of those who have faith to the saving of the soul.
