¹以上述べたことの要点は、このような大祭司がわたしたちのためにおられ、天にあって大能者の御座の右に座し、

¹Now in the things which we are saying, the main point is this. We have such a high priest, who sat down on the right hand of the throne of the Majesty in the heavens,

²人間によらず主によって設けられた真の幕屋なる聖所で仕えておられる、ということである。

²a servant of the sanctuary, and of the true tabernacle, which the Lord pitched, not man.

³おおよそ、大祭司が立てられるのは、供え物やいけにえをささげるためにほかならない。したがって、この大祭司もまた、何かささぐべき物を持っておられねばならない。

³For every high priest is appointed to offer both gifts and sacrifices. Therefore it is necessary that this high priest also have something to offer.

⁴そこで、もし彼が地上におられたなら、律法にしたがって供え物をささげる祭司たちが、現にいるのだから、彼は祭司ではあり得なかったであろう。

⁴For if he were on earth, he would not be a priest at all, seeing there are priests who offer the gifts according to the law;

⁵彼らは、天にある聖所のひな型と影とに仕えている者にすぎない。それについては、モーセが幕屋を建てようとしたとき、御告げを受け、「山で示された型どおりに、注意してそのいっさいを作りなさい」と言われたのである。

⁵who serve a copy and shadow of the heavenly things, even as Moses was warned by God when he was about to make the tabernacle, for he said, “See, you shall make everything according to the pattern that was shown to you on the mountain.” Exodus 25:40

⁶ところがキリストは、はるかにすぐれた務を得られたのである。それは、さらにまさった約束に基いて立てられた、さらにまさった契約の仲保者となられたことによる。

⁶But now he has obtained a more excellent ministry, by so much as he is also the mediator of a better covenant, which on better promises has been given as law.

⁷もし初めの契約に欠けたところがなかったなら、あとのものが立てられる余地はなかったであろう。

⁷For if that first covenant had been faultless, then no place would have been sought for a second.

⁹not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers, in the day that I took them by the hand to lead them out of the land of Egypt; for they didn’t continue in my covenant, and I disregarded them,” says the Lord.

¹⁰わたしが、それらの日の後、イスラエルの家と立てようとする契約はこれである、と主が言われる。すなわち、わたしの律法を彼らの思いの中に入れ、彼らの心に書きつけよう。こうして、わたしは彼らの神となり、彼らはわたしの民となるであろう。

¹⁰“For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel. After those days,” says the Lord; “I will put my laws into their mind, I will also write them on their heart. I will be their God, and they will be my people.

¹¹彼らは、それぞれ、その同胞に、また、それぞれ、その兄弟に、主を知れ、と言って教えることはなくなる。なぜなら、大なる者から小なる者に至るまで、彼らはことごとく、わたしを知るようになるからである。
