1海沿いの国々よ、わたしに聞け。遠いところのもろもろの民よ、耳を傾けよ。主はわたしを生れ出た時から召し、母の胎を出た時からわが名を語り告げられた。
1Listen, islands, to me; and listen, you peoples, from far: Yahweh has called me from the womb; from the bowels of my mother has he made mention of my name:
2主はわが口を鋭利なつるぎとなし、わたしをみ手の陰にかくし、とぎすました矢となして、箙にわたしを隠された。
2and he has made my mouth like a sharp sword; in the shadow of his hand, he has hidden me: and he has made me a polished shaft; in his quiver has he kept me close:
3また、わたしに言われた、「あなたはわがしもべ、わが栄光をあらわすべきイスラエルである」と。
3and he said to me, “You are my servant; Israel, in whom I will be glorified.”
4しかし、わたしは言った、「わたしはいたずらに働き、益なく、むなしく力を費した。しかもなお、まことにわが正しきは主と共にあり、わが報いはわが神と共にある」と。
4But I said, “I have labored in vain, I have spent my strength for nothing and vanity; yet surely the justice due to me is with Yahweh, and my reward with my God.”
5ヤコブをおのれに帰らせ、イスラエルをおのれのもとに集めるために、わたしを腹の中からつくってそのしもべとされた主は言われる。（わたしは主の前に尊ばれ、わが神はわが力となられた）
5Now says Yahweh who formed me from the womb to be his servant, to bring Jacob again to him, and that Israel be gathered to him (for I am honorable in the eyes of Yahweh, and my God has become my strength);
6主は言われる、「あなたがわがしもべとなって、ヤコブのもろもろの部族をおこし、イスラエルのうちの残った者を帰らせることは、いとも軽い事である。わたしはあなたを、もろもろの国びとの光となして、わが救を地の果にまでいたらせよう」と。
6yes, he says, “It is too light a thing that you should be my servant to raise up the tribes of Jacob, and to restore the preserved of Israel: I will also give you for a light to the nations, that you may be my salvation to the end of the earth.”
7イスラエルのあがない主、イスラエルの聖者なる主は、人に侮られる者、民に忌みきらわれる者、つかさたちのしもべにむかってこう言われる、「もろもろの王は見て、立ちあがり、もろもろの君は立って、拝する。これは真実なる主、イスラエルの聖者が、あなたを選ばれたゆえである」。
7Thus says Yahweh, the Redeemer of Israel, and his Holy One, to him whom man despises, to him whom the nation abhors, to a servant of rulers: “Kings shall see and arise; princes, and they shall worship; because of Yahweh who is faithful, even the Holy One of Israel, who has chosen you.”
8主はこう言われる、「わたしは恵みの時に、あなたに答え、救の日にあなたを助けた。わたしはあなたを守り、あなたを与えて民の契約とし、国を興し、荒れすたれた地を嗣業として継がせる。
8Thus says Yahweh, “In an acceptable time have I answered you, and in a day of salvation have I helped you; and I will preserve you, and give you for a covenant of the people, to raise up the land, to make them inherit the desolate heritage:
9わたしは捕えられた人に『出よ』と言い、暗きにおる者に『あらわれよ』と言う。彼らは道すがら食べることができ、すべての裸の山にも牧草を得る。
9saying to those who are bound, ‘Come out!’; to those who are in darkness, ‘Show yourselves!’ “They shall feed in the ways, and on all bare heights shall be their pasture.
10彼らは飢えることがなく、かわくこともない。また熱い風も、太陽も彼らを撃つことはない。彼らをあわれむ者が彼らを導き、泉のほとりに彼らを導かれるからだ。
10They shall not hunger nor thirst; neither shall the heat nor sun strike them: for he who has mercy on them will lead them, even by springs of water he will guide them.
11わたしは、わがもろもろの山を道とし、わが大路を高くする。
11I will make all my mountains a way, and my highways shall be exalted.
12見よ、人々は遠くから来る。見よ、人々は北から西から、またスエネの地から来る」。
12Behold, these shall come from far; and behold, these from the north and from the west; and these from the land of Sinim.”
13天よ、歌え、地よ、喜べ。もろもろの山よ、声を放って歌え。主はその民を慰め、その苦しむ者をあわれまれるからだ。
13Sing, heavens; and be joyful, earth; and break forth into singing, mountains: for Yahweh has comforted his people, and will have compassion on his afflicted.
14しかしシオンは言った、「主はわたしを捨て、主はわたしを忘れられた」と。
14But Zion said, “Yahweh has forsaken me, and the Lord has forgotten me.”
15「女がその乳のみ子を忘れて、その腹の子を、あわれまないようなことがあろうか。たとい彼らが忘れるようなことがあっても、わたしは、あなたを忘れることはない。
15“Can a woman forget her nursing child, that she should not have compassion on the son of her womb? Yes, these may forget, yet I will not forget you!
16見よ、わたしは、たなごころにあなたを彫り刻んだ。あなたの石がきは常にわが前にある。
16Behold, I have engraved you on the palms of my hands; your walls are continually before me.
17あなたを建てる者は、あなたをこわす者を追い越し、あなたを荒した者は、あなたから出て行く。
17Your children make haste; your destroyers and those who made you waste shall go forth from you.
18あなたの目をあげて見まわせ。彼らは皆集まって、あなたのもとに来る。主は言われる、わたしは生きている、あなたは彼らを皆、飾りとして身につけ、花嫁の帯のようにこれを結ぶ。
18Lift up your eyes all around, and see: all these gather themselves together, and come to you. As I live,” says Yahweh, “you shall surely clothe yourself with them all as with an ornament, and dress yourself with them, like a bride.
19あなたの荒れ、かつすたれた所、こわされた地は、住む人の多いために狭くなり、あなたを、のみつくした者は、はるかに離れ去る。
19“For, as for your waste and your desolate places, and your land that has been destroyed, surely now you shall be too small for the inhabitants, and those who swallowed you up shall be far away.
20あなたが子を失った後に生れた子らは、なおあなたの耳に言う、『この所はわたしには狭すぎる、わたしのために住むべき所を得させよ』と。
20The children of your bereavement shall yet say in your ears, The place is too small for me; give place to me that I may dwell.
21その時あなたは心のうちに言う、『だれがわたしのためにこれらの者を産んだのか。わたしは子を失って、子をもたない。わたしは捕われ、かつ追いやられた。だれがこれらの者を育てたのか。見よ、わたしはひとり残された。これらの者はどこから来たのか』と」。
21Then you will say in your heart, ‘Who has conceived these for me, since I have been bereaved of my children, and am solitary, an exile, and wandering back and forth? Who has brought up these? Behold, I was left alone; these, where were they?’”
22主なる神はこう言われる、「見よ、わたしは手をもろもろの国にむかってあげ、旗をもろもろの民にむかって立てる。彼らはそのふところにあなたの子らを携え、その肩にあなたの娘たちを載せて来る。
22Thus says the Lord Yahweh, “Behold, I will lift up my hand to the nations, and set up my banner to the peoples; and they shall bring your sons in their bosom, and your daughters shall be carried on their shoulders.
23もろもろの王は、あなたの養父となり、その王妃たちは、あなたの乳母となり、彼らはその顔を地につけて、あなたにひれ伏し、あなたの足のちりをなめる。こうして、あなたはわたしが主であることを知る。わたしを待ち望む者は恥をこうむることがない」。
23Kings shall be your nursing fathers, and their queens your nursing mothers: they shall bow down to you with their faces to the earth, and lick the dust of your feet; and you shall know that I am Yahweh; and those who wait for me shall not be disappointed.”
24勇士が奪った獲物をどうして取り返すことができようか。暴君がかすめた捕虜をどうして救い出すことができようか。
24Shall the prey be taken from the mighty, or the lawful captives be delivered?
25しかし主はこう言われる、「勇士がかすめた捕虜も取り返され、暴君が奪った獲物も救い出される。わたしはあなたと争う者と争い、あなたの子らを救うからである。わたしはあなたをしえたげる者にその肉を食わせ、その血を新しい酒のように飲ませて酔わせる。こうして、すべての人はわたしが主であって、あなたの救主、またあなたのあがない主、ヤコブの全能者であることを知るようになる」。
25But thus says Yahweh, “Even the captives of the mighty shall be taken away, and the prey of the terrible shall be delivered; for I will contend with him who contends with you, and I will save your children.
26わたしはあなたをしえたげる者にその肉を食わせ、その血を新しい酒のように飲ませて酔わせる。こうして、すべての人はわたしが主であって、あなたの救主、またあなたのあがない主、ヤコブの全能者であることを知るようになる」。
26I will feed those who oppress you with their own flesh; and they shall be drunken with their own blood, as with sweet wine: and all flesh shall know that I, Yahweh, am your Savior, and your Redeemer, the Mighty One of Jacob.”
