¹主はわたしに言われた、「一枚の大きな札を取って、その上に普通の文字で、『マヘル・シャラル・ハシ・バズ』と書きなさい」。

¹Yahweh said to me, “Take a large tablet, and write on it with a man’s pen, ‘For Maher Shalal Hash Baz; “Maher Shalal Hash Baz” means “quick to the plunder, swift to the spoil.” ’

²そこで、わたしは確かな証人として、祭司ウリヤおよびエベレキヤの子ゼカリヤを立てた。

²and I will take for myself faithful witnesses to testify: Uriah the priest, and Zechariah the son of Jeberechiah.”

³わたしが預言者の妻に近づくと、彼女はみごもって男の子を産んだ。その時、主はわたしに言われた、「その名をマヘル・シャラル・ハシ・バズと呼びなさい。

³I went to the prophetess, and she conceived, and bore a son. Then Yahweh said to me, “Call his name ‘Maher Shalal Hash Baz.’

⁴それはこの子がまだ『おとうさん、おかあさん』と呼ぶことを知らないうちに、ダマスコの富と、サマリヤのぶんどり品とが、アッスリヤ王の前に奪い去られるからである」。

⁴For before the child knows how to say, ‘My father,’ and, ‘My mother,’ the riches of Damascus and the spoil of Samaria will be carried away by the king of Assyria.”

⁵主はまた重ねてわたしに言われた、

⁵Yahweh spoke to me yet again, saying,

⁶「この民はゆるやかに流れるシロアの水を捨てて、レヂンとレマリヤの子の前に恐れくじける。

⁶“Because this people have refused the waters of Shiloah that go softly, and rejoice in Rezin and Remaliah’s son;

⁷それゆえ見よ、主は勢いたけく、みなぎりわたる大川の水を彼らにむかってせき入れられる。これはアッスリヤの王と、そのもろもろの威勢とであって、そのすべての支流にはびこり、すべての岸を越え、

⁷now therefore, behold, the Lord brings upon them the mighty flood waters of the River: the king of Assyria and all his glory. It will come up over all its channels, and go over all its banks.

⁸ユダに流れ入り、あふれみなぎって、首にまで及ぶ。インマヌエルよ、その広げた翼はあまねく、あなたの国に満ちわたる」。

⁸It will sweep onward into Judah. It will overflow and pass through; it will reach even to the neck; and the stretching out of its wings will fill the breadth of your land, Immanuel.

⁹もろもろの民よ、打ち破られて、驚きあわてよ。遠き国々のものよ、耳を傾けよ。腰に帯して、驚きあわてよ。腰に帯して、驚きあわてよ。

⁹Make an uproar, you peoples, and be broken in pieces! Listen, all you from far countries: dress for battle, and be shattered! Dress for battle, and be shattered!

¹⁰ともに計れ、しかし、成らない。言葉を出せ、しかし、行われない。神がわれわれと共におられるからである。

¹⁰Take counsel together, and it will be brought to nothing; speak the word, and it will not stand: for God is with us.”

¹¹主は強いみ手をもって、わたしを捕え、わたしに語り、この民の道に歩まないように、さとして言われた、

¹¹For Yahweh spoke thus to me with a strong hand, and instructed me not to walk in the way of this people, saying,

¹²「この民がすべて陰謀ととなえるものを陰謀ととなえてはならない。彼らの恐れるものを恐れてはならない。またおののいてはならない。

¹²“Don’t say, ‘A conspiracy!’ concerning all about which this people say, ‘A conspiracy!’ neither fear their threats, nor be terrorized.

¹³あなたがたは、ただ万軍の主を聖として、彼をかしこみ、彼を恐れなければならない。

¹³Yahweh of Armies is who you must respect as holy. He is the one you must fear. He is the one you must dread.

¹⁴主はイスラエルの二つの家には聖所となり、またさまたげの石、つまずきの岩となり、エルサレムの住民には網となり、わなとなる。

¹⁴He will be a sanctuary, but for both houses of Israel, he will be a trap and a snare for the inhabitants of Jerusalem.

¹⁵多くの者はこれにつまずき、かつ倒れ、破られ、わなにかけられ、捕えられる」。

¹⁵Many will stumble over it, fall, be broken, be snared, and be captured.”

¹⁶わたしは、あかしを一つにまとめ、教をわが弟子たちのうちに封じておこう。

¹⁶Wrap up the testimony. Seal the law among my disciples.

¹⁷主はいま、ヤコブの家に、み顔をかくしておられるとはいえ、わたしはその主を待ち、主を望みまつる。

¹⁷I will wait for Yahweh, who hides his face from the house of Jacob, and I will look for him.

¹⁸見よ、わたしと、主のわたしに賜わった子たちとは、シオンの山にいます万軍の主から与えられたイスラエルのしるしであり、前ぶれである。

¹⁸Behold, I and the children whom Yahweh has given me are for signs and for wonders in Israel from Yahweh of Armies, who dwells in Mount Zion.

¹⁹人々があなたがたにむかって「さえずるように、ささやくように語る巫子および魔術者に求めよ」という時、民は自分たちの神に求むべきではないか。生ける者のために死んだ者に求めるであろうか。

¹⁹When they tell you, “Consult with those who have familiar spirits and with the wizards, who chirp and who mutter:” shouldn’t a people consult with their God? Should they consult the dead on behalf of the living?

²⁰ただ教とあかしとに求めよ。まことに彼らはこの言葉によって語るが、そこには夜明けがない。

²⁰Turn to the law and to the testimony! If they don’t speak according to this word, surely there is no morning for them.

²¹彼らはしえたげられ、飢えて国の中を経あるく。その飢えるとき怒りを放ち、自分たちの王、自分たちの神をのろい、かつその顔を天に向ける。また地を見ると、見よ、悩みと暗きと、苦しみのやみとがあり、彼らは暗黒に追いやられる。

²¹They will pass through it, very distressed and hungry; and it will happen that when they are hungry, they will worry, and curse by their king and by their God. They will turn their faces upward,

²²and look to the earth, and see distress, darkness, and the gloom of anguish. They will be driven into thick darkness.
