1主は言われる、「イスラエルよ、もし、あなたが帰るならば、わたしのもとに帰らなければならない。もし、あなたが憎むべき者をわたしの前から取り除いて、ためらうことなく、
1“If you will return, Israel,” says Yahweh, “if you will return to me, and if you will put away your abominations out of my sight; then you shall not be removed;
2また真実と正義と正直とをもって、『主は生きておられる』と誓うならば、万国の民は彼によって祝福を受け、彼によって誇る」。
2and you shall swear, ‘As Yahweh lives,’ in truth, in justice, and in righteousness. The nations shall bless themselves in him, and in him shall they glory.”
3主はユダの人々とエルサレムに住む人々にこう言われる、「あなたがたの新田を耕せ、いばらの中に種をまくな。
3For thus says Yahweh to the men of Judah and to Jerusalem, “Break up your fallow ground, and don’t sow among thorns.
4ユダの人々とエルサレムに住む人々よ、あなたがたは自ら割礼を行って、主に属するものとなり、自分の心の前の皮を取り去れ。さもないと、あなたがたの悪しき行いのためにわたしの怒りが火のように発して燃え、これを消す者はない」。
4Circumcise yourselves to Yahweh, and take away the foreskins of your heart, you men of Judah and inhabitants of Jerusalem; lest my wrath go forth like fire, and burn so that none can quench it, because of the evil of your doings.
5ユダに告げ、エルサレムに示して言え、「国中にラッパを吹き、大声に呼ばわって言え、『集まれ、われわれは堅固な町々へ行こう』と。
5Declare in Judah, and publish in Jerusalem; and say, ‘Blow the trumpet in the land!’ Cry aloud and say, ‘Assemble yourselves! Let us go into the fortified cities!’
6シオンの方を示す旗を立てよ。避難せよ、とどまってはならない、わたしが北から災と大いなる破滅をこさせるからだ。
6Set up a standard toward Zion. Flee for safety! Don’t wait; for I will bring evil from the north, and a great destruction.”
7ししはその森から出てのぼり、国々を滅ぼす者は進んできた。彼はあなたの国を荒そうとして、すでにその所から出てきた。あなたの町々は滅ぼされて、住む者もなくなる。
7A lion is gone up from his thicket, and a destroyer of nations; he is on his way, he is gone forth from his place, to make your land desolate, that your cities be laid waste, without inhabitant.
8このために、あなたがたは荒布を身にまとって、悲しみ嘆け。主の激しい怒りが、まだわれわれを離れないからだ」。
8For this clothe yourself with sackcloth, lament and wail; for the fierce anger of Yahweh hasn’t turned back from us.
9主は言われる、「その日、王と君たちとはその心を失い、祭司は驚き、預言者は怪しむ」。
9“It shall happen at that day,” says Yahweh, “that the heart of the king shall perish, and the heart of the princes; and the priests shall be astonished, and the prophets shall wonder.”
10そこでわたしは言った、「ああ主なる神よ、まことにあなたはこの民とエルサレムとをまったく欺かれました。『あなたがたは安らかになる』と言われましたが、つるぎが命にまでも及びました」。
10Then I said, “Ah, Lord Yahweh! Surely you have greatly deceived this people and Jerusalem, saying, ‘You shall have peace;’ whereas the sword reaches to the heart.”
11その時この民とエルサレムとはこう告げられる、「熱い風が荒野の裸の山からわたしの民の娘のほうに吹いてくる。これはあおぎ分けるためではなく、清めるためでもない。
11At that time shall it be said to this people and to Jerusalem, “A hot wind from the bare heights in the wilderness toward the daughter of my people, not to winnow, nor to cleanse;
12これよりもなお激しい風がわたしのために吹く。いまわたしは彼らにさばきを告げる」。
12a full wind from these shall come for me. Now I will also utter judgments against them.”
13見よ、彼は雲のように上ってくる。その戦車はつむじ風のよう、その馬はわしの飛ぶよりも速い。ああ、われわれはわざわいだ、われわれは滅ぼされる。
13Behold, he shall come up as clouds, and his chariots shall be as the whirlwind: his horses are swifter than eagles. Woe to us! For we are ruined.
14エルサレムよ、あなたの心の悪を洗い清めよ、そうするならば救われる。悪しき思いはいつまであなたのうちにとどまるのか。
14Jerusalem, wash your heart from wickedness, that you may be saved. How long shall your evil thoughts lodge within you?
15ダンから告げる声がある、エフライムの山から災を知らせている。
15For a voice declares from Dan, and publishes evil from the hills of Ephraim:
16国々の民に彼の来ることを告げ、またエルサレムに知らせよ。「攻めかこむ者が遠くの国から来て、ユダの町々にむかってその声をあげる。
16“Tell the nations; behold, publish against Jerusalem, ‘Watchers come from a far country, and raise their voice against the cities of Judah.
17彼らは畑を守る者のようにこれを攻めかこむ。それはわたしにそむいたからだと、主は言われる。
17As keepers of a field, they are against her all around, because she has been rebellious against me,’” says Yahweh.
18あなたの道とその行いとが、あなたの身にこれを招いたのだ。これはあなたの悪の結果で、まことに苦く、あなたの心をつらぬく」。
18“Your way and your doings have brought these things to you. This is your wickedness; for it is bitter, for it reaches to your heart.”
19ああ、わがはらわたよ、わがはらわたよ、わたしは苦しみにもだえる。ああ、わが心臓の壁よ、わたしの心臓は、はげしく鼓動する。わたしは沈黙を守ることができない、ラッパの声と、戦いの叫びを聞くからである。
19My anguish, my anguish! I am pained at my very heart; my heart is disquieted in me; I can’t hold my peace; because you have heard, O my soul, the sound of the trumpet, the alarm of war.
20破壊に次ぐに破壊があり、全地は荒され、わたしの天幕はにわかに破られ、わたしの幕はたちまち破られた。
20Destruction on destruction is cried; for the whole land is laid waste: suddenly are my tents destroyed, and my curtains in a moment.
21いつまでわたしは旗を見、またラッパの声を聞かなければならないのか。
21How long shall I see the standard, and hear the sound of the trumpet?
22「わたしの民は愚かであって、わたしを知らない。彼らは愚鈍な子どもらで、悟ることがない。彼らは悪を行うのにさといけれども、善を行うことを知らない」。
22“For my people are foolish, they don’t know me. They are foolish children, and they have no understanding. They are skillful in doing evil, but to do good they have no knowledge.”
23わたしは地を見たが、それは形がなく、またむなしかった。天をあおいだが、そこには光がなかった。
23I saw the earth, and, behold, it was waste and void; and the heavens, and they had no light.
24わたしは山を見たが、みな震え、もろもろの丘は動いていた。
24I saw the mountains, and behold, they trembled, and all the hills moved back and forth.
25わたしは見たが、人はひとりもおらず、空の鳥はみな飛び去っていた。
25I saw, and behold, there was no man, and all the birds of the sky had fled.
26わたしは見たが、豊かな地は荒れ地となり、そのすべての町は、主の前に、その激しい怒りの前に、破壊されていた。
26I saw, and behold, the fruitful field was a wilderness, and all its cities were broken down at the presence of Yahweh, before his fierce anger.
27それは主がこう言われたからだ、「全地は荒れ地となる。しかしわたしはことごとくはこれを滅ぼさない。
27For thus says Yahweh, “The whole land shall be a desolation; yet will I not make a full end.
28このために地は悲しみ、上なる天は暗くなる。わたしがすでにこれを言い、これを定めたからだ。わたしは悔いない、またそれをする事をやめない」。
28For this the earth will mourn, and the heavens above be black; because I have spoken it, I have purposed it, and I have not repented, neither will I turn back from it.”
29どの町の人も、騎兵と射手の叫びのために逃げて森に入り、岩に上る。町はみな捨てられ、そこに住む人はない。
29Every city flees for the noise of the horsemen and archers; they go into the thickets, and climb up on the rocks: every city is forsaken, and not a man dwells therein.
30ああ、荒された女よ、あなたが紅の着物をき、金の飾りで身をよそおい、目を塗って大きくするのは、なんのためか。あなたが美しくしても、むだである。あなたの恋人らはあなたを卑しめ、あなたの命を求めている。わたしは子を産む女のような声、ういごを産む女の苦しむような声を聞いた。シオンの娘のあえぐ叫びである。両手を伸べて彼女は言う、「わたしはわざわいだ、わたしを殺す者らの前にわたしは気が遠くなる」と。
30You, when you are made desolate, what will you do? Though you clothe yourself with scarlet, though you deck you with ornaments of gold, though you enlarge your eyes with paint, in vain do you make yourself beautiful; your lovers despise you, they seek your life.
31わたしは子を産む女のような声、ういごを産む女の苦しむような声を聞いた。シオンの娘のあえぐ叫びである。両手を伸べて彼女は言う、「わたしはわざわいだ、わたしを殺す者らの前にわたしは気が遠くなる」と。
31For I have heard a voice as of a woman in travail, the anguish as of her who brings forth her first child, the voice of the daughter of Zion, who gasps for breath, who spreads her hands, saying, “Woe is me now! For my soul faints before the murderers.”
