¹モアブの事について、万軍の主、イスラエルの神はこう言われる、「ああ、ネボはわざわいだ、これは滅ぼされた。キリヤタイムははずかしめられて取られ、とりでは、はずかしめられてこわされた。

¹Of Moab. Thus says Yahweh of Armies, the God of Israel: Woe to Nebo! for it is laid waste; Kiriathaim is disappointed, it is taken; Misgab is put to shame and broken down.

²モアブの誉は、消え去った。ヘシボンで人々はモアブの害を図り、『さあ、この国を断ち滅ぼそう』という。マデメンよ、おまえもまた滅ぼされる、つるぎがおまえを追う。

²The praise of Moab is no more; in Heshbon they have devised evil against her: Come, and let us cut her off from being a nation. You also, Madmen, shall be brought to silence: the sword shall pursue you.

³ホロナイムから叫び声が聞える、『荒廃と大いなる滅亡だ』という。

³The sound of a cry from Horonaim, desolation and great destruction!

⁴モアブは滅ぼされ、叫びはゾアルにまで聞える。

⁴Moab is destroyed; her little ones have caused a cry to be heard.

⁵彼らは泣きながらルヒテの坂を登る。彼らはホロナイムの下り坂で、『滅亡』の叫びを聞いたからだ。

⁵For by the ascent of Luhith with continual weeping shall they go up; for at the descent of Horonaim they have heard the distress of the cry of destruction.

⁶逃げて、自分の身を救え、荒野の野ろばのようになれ。

⁶Flee, save your lives, and be like the heath in the wilderness.

⁷おまえが、とりでと財宝とを頼みにしたので、おまえも捕えられるからだ。またケモシは、その祭司とつかさたちと共に、捕えられて行く。

⁷For, because you have trusted in your works and in your treasures, you also shall be taken: and Chemosh shall go forth into captivity, his priests and his princes together.

⁸滅ぼす者はすべての町に来る、一つの町ものがれることができない。谷は滅び、平地は荒される、主の言われたとおりである。

⁸The destroyer shall come on every city, and no city shall escape; the valley also shall perish, and the plain shall be destroyed; as Yahweh has spoken.

⁹モアブに翼を与えて、飛び去らせよ。その町々は荒れて、住む者はなくなる。

⁹Give wings to Moab, that she may fly and get her away: and her cities shall become a desolation, without any to dwell therein.

¹⁰主のわざを行うことを怠る者はのろわれる。またそのつるぎを押えて血を流さない者はのろわれる。

¹⁰Cursed is he who does the work of Yahweh negligently; and cursed is he who keeps back his sword from blood.

¹¹モアブはその幼い時から安らかで、酒が、沈んだおりの上にとどまって、器から器に、くみ移されなかったように、捕え移されなかったので、その味はなお存し、その香気も変ることがない。

¹¹Moab has been at ease from his youth, and he has settled on his lees, and has not been emptied from vessel to vessel, neither has he gone into captivity: therefore his taste remains in him, and his scent is not changed.

¹²主は言われる、それゆえ見よ、わたしがこれを傾ける者どもをつかわす日が来る。彼らはこれを傾け、その器をあけ、そのかめを砕く。

¹²Therefore behold, the days come, says Yahweh, that I will send to him those who pour off, and they shall pour him off; and they shall empty his vessels, and break their bottles in pieces.

¹³その時モアブはケモシのために恥をかく。ちょうどイスラエルの家がその頼みとしたベテルのために恥をかいたようになる。

¹³Moab shall be ashamed of Chemosh, as the house of Israel was ashamed of Bethel their confidence.

¹⁴あなたがたはどうして『われわれは勇士だ。強い戦士だ』というのか。

¹⁴How do you say, We are mighty men, and valiant men for the war?

¹⁵モアブとその町々を滅ぼす者は上って来、モアブのえり抜きの若者たちは下って殺されたと万軍の主と名のる王が言われる。

¹⁵Moab is laid waste, and they are gone up into his cities, and his chosen young men are gone down to the slaughter, says the King, whose name is Yahweh of Armies.

¹⁶モアブの災難は近づいている、その苦難はすみやかに来る。

¹⁶The calamity of Moab is near to come, and his affliction hurries fast.

¹⁷すべてその周囲にある者よ、またその名を知る者よ、彼のために嘆いて、『ああ、強き笏、麗しきつえは、ついに折れた』と言え。

¹⁷All you who are around him, bemoan him, and all you who know his name; say, How is the strong staff broken, the beautiful rod!

¹⁸デボンに住む者よ、あなたの栄えを離れて下り、かわいた地に座せよ。モアブを滅ぼす者があなたに攻めのぼって来て、あなたの城を滅ぼしたからだ。

¹⁸You daughter who dwells in Dibon, come down from your glory, and sit in thirst; for the destroyer of Moab has come up against you, he has destroyed your strongholds.

¹⁹アロエルに住む者よ、道のかたわらに立って見張りし、逃げてくる男、のがれてくる女に尋ねて、『何が起ったのか』と言え。

¹⁹Inhabitant of Aroer, stand by the way, and watch: ask him who flees, and her who escapes; say, What has been done?

²⁰モアブは敗れて、恥をこうむっている。嘆き呼ばわれ。アルノン川のほとりで、モアブは滅ぼされたと告げよ。

²⁰Moab is disappointed; for it is broken down: wail and cry; tell it by the Arnon, that Moab is laid waste.

²¹さばきは高原の地に臨み、ホロン、ヤハズ、メパアテ、

²¹Judgment has come on the plain country, on Holon, and on Jahzah, and on Mephaath,

²²デボン、ネボ、ベテ・デブラタイム、

²²and on Dibon, and on Nebo, and on Beth Diblathaim,

²³キリヤタイム、ベテ・ガムル、ベテ・メオン、

²³and on Kiriathaim, and on Beth Gamul, and on Beth Meon,

²⁴ケリオテ、ボズラなどモアブの地のすべての町の、遠いものにも近いものにも、臨んだ。

²⁴and on Kerioth, and on Bozrah, and on all the cities of the land of Moab, far or near.

²⁵モアブの角は砕け、その腕は折れたと主は言われる。

²⁵The horn of Moab is cut off, and his arm is broken, says Yahweh.

²⁶モアブを酔わせよ、彼が主に敵して自ら高ぶったからである。モアブは自分の吐いた物の中にころがって、笑い草となる。

²⁶Make him drunken; for he magnified himself against Yahweh: and Moab shall wallow in his vomit, and he also shall be in derision.

²⁷イスラエルはあなたの笑い草ではなかったか。あなたが、彼のことを語るごとに首を振ったのは、彼が盗賊の中にいたとでもいうのか。

²⁷For wasn’t Israel a derision to you? was he found among thieves? for as often as you speak of him, you shake your head.

²⁸モアブに住む者よ、町を去って岩の間に住め。谷の入口のかたわらに巣を作る山ばとのようにせよ。

²⁸You inhabitants of Moab, leave the cities, and dwell in the rock; and be like the dove that makes her nest over the mouth of the abyss.

²⁹われわれはモアブの高慢な事を聞いた、その高慢は、はなはだしい。すなわち、その尊大、高慢、横柄、およびその心の高ぶりのことを聞いた。

²⁹We have heard of the pride of Moab. He is very proud; his loftiness, and his pride, and his arrogance, and the haughtiness of his heart.

³⁰主は言われる、わたしは彼の横着なのを知る、彼の自慢は偽りで、その行いも偽りである。

³⁰I know his wrath, says Yahweh, that it is nothing; his boastings have worked nothing.

³¹それゆえ、わたしはモアブのために嘆き、モアブの全地のために呼ばわる。キルヘレスの人々のためにわたしは悲しむ。

³¹Therefore will I wail for Moab; yes, I will cry out for all Moab: for the men of Kir Heres shall they mourn.

³²シブマのぶどうの木よ、わたしはヤゼルのために泣くのにまさっておまえのために泣く。おまえのつるは延びて海を越え、ヤゼルに及んだ。おまえの夏の実と、その収穫を滅ぼす者が襲ってきた。

³²With more than the weeping of Jazer will I weep for you, vine of Sibmah: your branches passed over the sea, they reached even to the sea of Jazer: on your summer fruits and on your vintage the destroyer is fallen.

³³喜びと楽しみは、実り多いモアブの地を去った。わたしは、ぶどうをしぼる所にも酒をなくした。楽しく呼ばわって、ぶどうを踏む者もなくなった。呼ばわっても、喜んで呼ばわる声ではない。

³³Gladness and joy is taken away from the fruitful field and from the land of Moab; and I have caused wine to cease from the wine presses: none shall tread with shouting; the shouting shall be no shouting.

³⁴ヘシボンとエレアレは叫ぶ。ヤハヅに至るまで、ゾアルからホロナイムとエグラテ・シリシヤに至るまで、彼らはその声をあげる。ニムリムの水も絶えたからである。

³⁴From the cry of Heshbon even to Elealeh, even to Jahaz have they uttered their voice, from Zoar even to Horonaim, to Eglath Shelishiyah: for the waters of Nimrim also shall become desolate.

³⁵主は言われる、わたしは犠牲を高き所にささげ、香をその神にたく者をモアブのうちに滅ぼす。

³⁵Moreover I will cause to cease in Moab, says Yahweh, him who offers in the high place, and him who burns incense to his gods.

³⁶それゆえ、わたしの心はモアブのために笛のように嘆き、わたしの心はキルヘレスの人々のために笛のように嘆く。彼らの獲た富が消えうせたからである。

³⁶Therefore my heart sounds for Moab like pipes, and my heart sounds like pipes for the men of Kir Heres: therefore the abundance that he has gotten is perished.

³⁷人はみな髪をそり、皆ひげをそり、みな手に傷をつけ、腰に荒布を着ける。

³⁷For every head is bald, and every beard clipped: on all the hands are cuttings, and on the waist sackcloth.

³⁸モアブではどこの屋根の上も、広場も、ただ悲しみに包まれている。これは、わたしが、だれもほしがらない器のようにモアブを砕いたからであると主は言われる。

³⁸On all the housetops of Moab and in its streets there is lamentation every where; for I have broken Moab like a vessel in which none delights, says Yahweh.

³⁹ああ、モアブはついに滅びた。人々は嘆く。ああ、モアブは恥じて顔をそむけた。モアブはその周囲のすべての者の笑い草となり恐れとなった」。

³⁹How it is broken down! How they wail! How Moab has turned the back with shame! So shall Moab become a derision and a terror to all who are around him.

⁴⁰主はこう言われる、「見よ、敵はわしのように速く飛んできて、モアブに向かって翼をのべる。

⁴⁰For thus says Yahweh: Behold, he shall fly as an eagle, and shall spread out his wings against Moab.

⁴¹町々は取られ、城は奪われる。その日モアブの勇士の心は子を産む女の心のようになる。

⁴¹Kerioth is taken, and the strongholds are seized, and the heart of the mighty men of Moab at that day shall be as the heart of a woman in her pangs.

⁴²モアブは滅ぼされて、国を成さないようになる。主に敵して自ら誇ったからである。

⁴²Moab shall be destroyed from being a people, because he has magnified himself against Yahweh.

⁴³主は言われる、モアブに住む者よ、恐れと、穴と、わなとがあなたに臨んでいる。

⁴³Fear, and the pit, and the snare, are on you, inhabitant of Moab, says Yahweh.

⁴⁴恐れをさけて逃げる者は穴におちいり、穴をよじ上って出る者は、わなに捕えられる。わたしがモアブに、その罰せられる年に、これらのものを臨ませるからであると主は言われる。

⁴⁴He who flees from the fear shall fall into the pit; and he who gets up out of the pit shall be taken in the snare: for I will bring on him, even on Moab, the year of their visitation, says Yahweh.

⁴⁵逃げた者はヘシボンの陰に、力なく立ちどまる。ヘシボンから火が出、シホンの家から炎が出て、モアブの額、騒ぐ人々の頭の頂を焼いたからだ。

⁴⁵Those who fled stand without strength under the shadow of Heshbon; for a fire is gone forth out of Heshbon, and a flame from the midst of Sihon, and has devoured the corner of Moab, and the crown of the head of the tumultuous ones.

⁴⁶モアブよ、おまえはわざわいだ。ケモシの民は滅びた。おまえのむすこらは捕え移され、おまえの娘らも捕え行かれたからである。しかし末の日にわたしは再びモアブを栄えさせると主は言われる」。ここまではモアブのさばきの事をいったのである。

⁴⁶Woe to you, O Moab! the people of Chemosh is undone; for your sons are taken away captive, and your daughters into captivity.

⁴⁷しかし末の日にわたしは再びモアブを栄えさせると主は言われる」。ここまではモアブのさばきの事をいったのである。

⁴⁷Yet will I bring back the captivity of Moab in the latter days, says Yahweh. Thus far is the judgment of Moab.
