¹ちょうどその時、ある人々がきて、ピラトがガリラヤ人たちの血を流し、それを彼らの犠牲の血に混ぜたことを、イエスに知らせた。

¹Now there were some present at the same time who told him about the Galileans, whose blood Pilate had mixed with their sacrifices.

²そこでイエスは答えて言われた、「それらのガリラヤ人が、そのような災難にあったからといって、他のすべてのガリラヤ人以上に罪が深かったと思うのか。

²Jesus answered them, “Do you think that these Galileans were worse sinners than all the other Galileans, because they suffered such things?

³あなたがたに言うが、そうではない。あなたがたも悔い改めなければ、みな同じように滅びるであろう。

³ I tell you, no, but unless you repent, you will all perish in the same way.

⁴また、シロアムの塔が倒れたためにおし殺されたあの十八人は、エルサレムの他の全住民以上に罪の負債があったと思うか。

⁴ Or those eighteen, on whom the tower in Siloam fell, and killed them; do you think that they were worse offenders than all the men who dwell in Jerusalem?

⁵あなたがたに言うが、そうではない。あなたがたも悔い改めなければ、みな同じように滅びるであろう」。

⁵ I tell you, no, but, unless you repent, you will all perish in the same way.”

⁶それから、この譬を語られた、「ある人が自分のぶどう園にいちじくの木を植えて置いたので、実を捜しにきたが見つからなかった。

⁶He spoke this parable. “A certain man had a fig tree planted in his vineyard, and he came seeking fruit on it, and found none.

⁷そこで園丁に言った、『わたしは三年間も実を求めて、このいちじくの木のところにきたのだが、いまだに見あたらない。その木を切り倒してしまえ。なんのために、土地をむだにふさがせて置くのか』。

⁷ He said to the vine dresser, ‘Behold, these three years I have come looking for fruit on this fig tree, and found none. Cut it down. Why does it waste the soil?’

⁸すると園丁は答えて言った、『ご主人様、ことしも、そのままにして置いてください。そのまわりを掘って肥料をやって見ますから。

⁸ He answered, ‘Lord, leave it alone this year also, until I dig around it, and fertilize it.

⁹それで来年実がなりましたら結構です。もしそれでもだめでしたら、切り倒してください』」。

⁹ If it bears fruit, fine; but if not, after that, you can cut it down.’”

¹⁰安息日に、ある会堂で教えておられると、

¹⁰He was teaching in one of the synagogues on the Sabbath day.

¹¹そこに十八年間も病気の霊につかれ、かがんだままで、からだを伸ばすことの全くできない女がいた。

¹¹Behold, there was a woman who had a spirit of infirmity eighteen years, and she was bent over, and could in no way straighten herself up.

¹²イエスはこの女を見て、呼びよせ、「女よ、あなたの病気はなおった」と言って、

¹²When Jesus saw her, he called her, and said to her, “Woman, you are freed from your infirmity.”

¹³手をその上に置かれた。すると立ちどころに、そのからだがまっすぐになり、そして神をたたえはじめた。

¹³He laid his hands on her, and immediately she stood up straight, and glorified God.

¹⁴ところが会堂司は、イエスが安息日に病気をいやされたことを憤り、群衆にむかって言った、「働くべき日は六日ある。その間に、なおしてもらいにきなさい。安息日にはいけない」。

¹⁴The ruler of the synagogue, being indignant because Jesus had healed on the Sabbath, said to the multitude, “There are six days in which men ought to work. Therefore come on those days and be healed, and not on the Sabbath day!”

¹⁵主はこれに答えて言われた、「偽善者たちよ、あなたがたはだれでも、安息日であっても、自分の牛やろばを家畜小屋から解いて、水を飲ませに引き出してやるではないか。

¹⁵Therefore the Lord answered him, “You hypocrites! Doesn’t each one of you free his ox or his donkey from the stall on the Sabbath, and lead him away to water?

¹⁶それなら、十八年間もサタンに縛られていた、アブラハムの娘であるこの女を、安息日であっても、その束縛から解いてやるべきではなかったか」。

¹⁶ Ought not this woman, being a daughter of Abraham, whom Satan had bound eighteen long years, be freed from this bondage on the Sabbath day?”

¹⁷こう言われたので、イエスに反対していた人たちはみな恥じ入った。そして群衆はこぞって、イエスがなされたすべてのすばらしいみわざを見て喜んだ。

¹⁷As he said these things, all his adversaries were disappointed, and all the multitude rejoiced for all the glorious things that were done by him.

¹⁸そこで言われた、「神の国は何に似ているか。またそれを何にたとえようか。

¹⁸He said, “What is the Kingdom of God like? To what shall I compare it?

¹⁹一粒のからし種のようなものである。ある人がそれを取って庭にまくと、育って木となり、空の鳥もその枝に宿るようになる」。

¹⁹ It is like a grain of mustard seed, which a man took, and put in his own garden. It grew, and became a large tree, and the birds of the sky lodged in its branches.”

²⁰また言われた、「神の国を何にたとえようか。

²⁰ Again he said, “To what shall I compare the Kingdom of God?

²¹パン種のようなものである。女がそれを取って三斗の粉の中に混ぜると、全体がふくらんでくる」。

²¹ It is like yeast, which a woman took and hid in three measures literally, three sata. 3 sata is about 39 litres or a bit more than a bushel of flour, until it was all leavened.”

²²さてイエスは教えながら町々村々を通り過ぎ、エルサレムへと旅を続けられた。

²²He went on his way through cities and villages, teaching, and traveling on to Jerusalem.

²³すると、ある人がイエスに、「主よ、救われる人は少ないのですか」と尋ねた。

²³One said to him, “Lord, are they few who are saved?” He said to them,

²⁴そこでイエスは人々にむかって言われた、「狭い戸口からはいるように努めなさい。事実、はいろうとしても、はいれない人が多いのだから。

²⁴ “Strive to enter in by the narrow door, for many, I tell you, will seek to enter in, and will not be able.

²⁵家の主人が立って戸を閉じてしまってから、あなたがたが外に立ち戸をたたき始めて、『ご主人様、どうぞあけてください』と言っても、主人はそれに答えて、『あなたがたがどこからきた人なのか、わたしは知らない』と言うであろう。

²⁵ When once the master of the house has risen up, and has shut the door, and you begin to stand outside, and to knock at the door, saying, ‘Lord, Lord, open to us!’ then he will answer and tell you, ‘I don’t know you or where you come from.’

²⁶そのとき、『わたしたちはあなたとご一緒に飲み食いしました。また、あなたはわたしたちの大通りで教えてくださいました』と言い出しても、

²⁶ Then you will begin to say, ‘We ate and drank in your presence, and you taught in our streets.’

²⁷彼は、『あなたがたがどこからきた人なのか、わたしは知らない。悪事を働く者どもよ、みんな行ってしまえ』と言うであろう。

²⁷ He will say, ‘I tell you, I don’t know where you come from. Depart from me, all you workers of iniquity.’

²⁸あなたがたは、アブラハム、イサク、ヤコブやすべての預言者たちが、神の国にはいっているのに、自分たちは外に投げ出されることになれば、そこで泣き叫んだり、歯がみをしたりするであろう。

²⁸ There will be weeping and gnashing of teeth, when you see Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, and all the prophets, in the Kingdom of God, and yourselves being thrown outside.

²⁹それから人々が、東から西から、また南から北からきて、神の国で宴会の席につくであろう。

²⁹ They will come from the east, west, north, and south, and will sit down in the Kingdom of God.

³⁰こうしてあとのもので先になるものがあり、また、先のものであとになるものもある」。

³⁰ Behold, there are some who are last who will be first, and there are some who are first who will be last.”

³¹ちょうどその時、あるパリサイ人たちが、イエスに近寄ってきて言った、「ここから出て行きなさい。ヘロデがあなたを殺そうとしています」。

³¹On that same day, some Pharisees came, saying to him, “Get out of here, and go away, for Herod wants to kill you.”

³²そこで彼らに言われた、「あのきつねのところへ行ってこう言え、『見よ、わたしはきょうもあすも悪霊を追い出し、また、病気をいやし、そして三日目にわざを終えるであろう。

³²He said to them, “Go and tell that fox, ‘Behold, I cast out demons and perform cures today and tomorrow, and the third day I complete my mission.

³³しかし、きょうもあすも、またその次の日も、わたしは進んで行かねばならない。預言者がエルサレム以外の地で死ぬことは、あり得ないからである』。

³³ Nevertheless I must go on my way today and tomorrow and the next day, for it can’t be that a prophet perish outside of Jerusalem.’

³⁴ああ、エルサレム、エルサレム、預言者たちを殺し、おまえにつかわされた人々を石で打ち殺す者よ。ちょうどめんどりが翼の下にひなを集めるように、わたしはおまえの子らを幾たび集めようとしたことであろう。それだのに、おまえたちは応じようとしなかった。見よ、おまえたちの家は見捨てられてしまう。わたしは言って置く、『主の名によってきたるものに、祝福あれ』とおまえたちが言う時の来るまでは、再びわたしに会うことはないであろう」。

³⁴ “Jerusalem, Jerusalem, that kills the prophets, and stones those who are sent to her! How often I wanted to gather your children together, like a hen gathers her own brood under her wings, and you refused!

³⁵見よ、おまえたちの家は見捨てられてしまう。わたしは言って置く、『主の名によってきたるものに、祝福あれ』とおまえたちが言う時の来るまでは、再びわたしに会うことはないであろう」。

³⁵ Behold, your house is left to you desolate. I tell you, you will not see me, until you say, ‘Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord!’” Psalm 118:26
