¹それから、イエスはそこを去って、ユダヤの地方とヨルダンの向こう側へ行かれたが、群衆がまた寄り集まったので、いつものように、また教えておられた。

¹He arose from there and came into the borders of Judea and beyond the Jordan. Multitudes came together to him again. As he usually did, he was again teaching them.

²そのとき、パリサイ人たちが近づいてきて、イエスを試みようとして質問した、「夫はその妻を出しても差しつかえないでしょうか」。

²Pharisees came to him testing him, and asked him, “Is it lawful for a man to divorce his wife?”

³イエスは答えて言われた、「モーセはあなたがたになんと命じたか」。

³He answered, “What did Moses command you?”

⁴彼らは言った、「モーセは、離縁状を書いて妻を出すことを許しました」。

⁴They said, “Moses allowed a certificate of divorce to be written, and to divorce her.”

⁵そこでイエスは言われた、「モーセはあなたがたの心が、かたくななので、あなたがたのためにこの定めを書いたのである。

⁵But Jesus said to them, “For your hardness of heart, he wrote you this commandment.

⁶しかし、天地創造の初めから、『神は人を男と女とに造られた。

⁶ But from the beginning of the creation, God made them male and female. Genesis 1:27

⁷それゆえに、人はその父母を離れ、

⁷ For this cause a man will leave his father and mother, and will join to his wife,

⁸ふたりの者は一体となるべきである』。彼らはもはや、ふたりではなく一体である。

⁸ and the two will become one flesh, Genesis 2:24 so that they are no longer two, but one flesh.

⁹だから、神が合わせられたものを、人は離してはならない」。

⁹ What therefore God has joined together, let no man separate.”

¹⁰家にはいってから、弟子たちはまたこのことについて尋ねた。

¹⁰In the house, his disciples asked him again about the same matter.

¹¹そこで、イエスは言われた、「だれでも、自分の妻を出して他の女をめとる者は、その妻に対して姦淫を行うのである。

¹¹He said to them, “Whoever divorces his wife, and marries another, commits adultery against her.

¹²また妻が、その夫と別れて他の男にとつぐならば、姦淫を行うのである」。

¹² If a woman herself divorces her husband, and marries another, she commits adultery.”

¹³イエスにさわっていただくために、人々が幼な子らをみもとに連れてきた。ところが、弟子たちは彼らをたしなめた。

¹³They were bringing to him little children, that he should touch them, but the disciples rebuked those who were bringing them.

¹⁴それを見てイエスは憤り、彼らに言われた、「幼な子らをわたしの所に来るままにしておきなさい。止めてはならない。神の国はこのような者の国である。

¹⁴But when Jesus saw it, he was moved with indignation, and said to them, “Allow the little children to come to me! Don’t forbid them, for the Kingdom of God belongs to such as these.

¹⁵よく聞いておくがよい。だれでも幼な子のように神の国を受けいれる者でなければ、そこにはいることは決してできない」。

¹⁵ Most certainly I tell you, whoever will not receive the Kingdom of God like a little child, he will in no way enter into it.”

¹⁶そして彼らを抱き、手をその上において祝福された。

¹⁶He took them in his arms, and blessed them, laying his hands on them.

¹⁷イエスが道に出て行かれると、ひとりの人が走り寄り、みまえにひざまずいて尋ねた、「よき師よ、永遠の生命を受けるために、何をしたらよいでしょうか」。

¹⁷As he was going out into the way, one ran to him, knelt before him, and asked him, “Good Teacher, what shall I do that I may inherit eternal life?”

¹⁸イエスは言われた、「なぜわたしをよき者と言うのか。神ひとりのほかによい者はいない。

¹⁸Jesus said to him, “Why do you call me good? No one is good except one—God.

¹⁹いましめはあなたの知っているとおりである。『殺すな、姦淫するな、盗むな、偽証を立てるな。欺き取るな。父と母とを敬え』」。

¹⁹ You know the commandments: ‘Do not murder,’ ‘Do not commit adultery,’ ‘Do not steal,’ ‘Do not give false testimony,’ ‘Do not defraud,’ ‘Honor your father and mother.’” Exodus 20:12-16; Deuteronomy 5:16-20

²⁰すると、彼は言った、「先生、それらの事はみな、小さい時から守っております」。

²⁰He said to him, “Teacher, I have observed all these things from my youth.”

²¹イエスは彼に目をとめ、いつくしんで言われた、「あなたに足りないことが一つある。帰って、持っているものをみな売り払って、貧しい人々に施しなさい。そうすれば、天に宝を持つようになろう。そして、わたしに従ってきなさい」。

²¹Jesus looking at him loved him, and said to him, “One thing you lack. Go, sell whatever you have, and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come, follow me, taking up the cross.”

²²すると、彼はこの言葉を聞いて、顔を曇らせ、悲しみながら立ち去った。たくさんの資産を持っていたからである。

²²But his face fell at that saying, and he went away sorrowful, for he was one who had great possessions.

²³それから、イエスは見まわして、弟子たちに言われた、「財産のある者が神の国にはいるのは、なんとむずかしいことであろう」。

²³Jesus looked around, and said to his disciples, “How difficult it is for those who have riches to enter into the Kingdom of God!”

²⁴弟子たちはこの言葉に驚き怪しんだ。イエスは更に言われた、「子たちよ、神の国にはいるのは、なんとむずかしいことであろう。

²⁴The disciples were amazed at his words. But Jesus answered again, “Children, how hard is it for those who trust in riches to enter into the Kingdom of God!

²⁵富んでいる者が神の国にはいるよりは、らくだが針の穴を通る方が、もっとやさしい」。

²⁵ It is easier for a camel to go through a needle’s eye than for a rich man to enter into the Kingdom of God.”

²⁶すると彼らはますます驚いて、互に言った、「それでは、だれが救われることができるのだろう」。

²⁶They were exceedingly astonished, saying to him, “Then who can be saved?”

²⁷イエスは彼らを見つめて言われた、「人にはできないが、神にはできる。神はなんでもできるからである」。

²⁷Jesus, looking at them, said, “With men it is impossible, but not with God, for all things are possible with God.”

²⁸ペテロがイエスに言い出した、「ごらんなさい、わたしたちはいっさいを捨てて、あなたに従って参りました」。

²⁸Peter began to tell him, “Behold, we have left all, and have followed you.”

²⁹イエスは言われた、「よく聞いておくがよい。だれでもわたしのために、また福音のために、家、兄弟、姉妹、母、父、子、もしくは畑を捨てた者は、

²⁹Jesus said, “Most certainly I tell you, there is no one who has left house, or brothers, or sisters, or father, or mother, or wife, or children, or land, for my sake, and for the sake of the Good News,

³⁰必ずその百倍を受ける。すなわち、今この時代では家、兄弟、姉妹、母、子および畑を迫害と共に受け、また、きたるべき世では永遠の生命を受ける。

³⁰ but he will receive one hundred times more now in this time, houses, brothers, sisters, mothers, children, and land, with persecutions; and in the age to come eternal life.

³¹しかし、多くの先の者はあとになり、あとの者は先になるであろう」。

³¹ But many who are first will be last; and the last first.”

³²さて、一同はエルサレムへ上る途上にあったが、イエスが先頭に立って行かれたので、彼らは驚き怪しみ、従う者たちは恐れた。するとイエスはまた十二弟子を呼び寄せて、自分の身に起ろうとすることについて語りはじめられた、

³²They were on the way, going up to Jerusalem; and Jesus was going in front of them, and they were amazed; and those who followed were afraid. He again took the twelve, and began to tell them the things that were going to happen to him.

³³「見よ、わたしたちはエルサレムへ上って行くが、人の子は祭司長、律法学者たちの手に引きわたされる。そして彼らは死刑を宣告した上、彼を異邦人に引きわたすであろう。

³³ “Behold, we are going up to Jerusalem. The Son of Man will be delivered to the chief priests and the scribes. They will condemn him to death, and will deliver him to the Gentiles.

³⁴また彼をあざけり、つばきをかけ、むち打ち、ついに殺してしまう。そして彼は三日の後によみがえるであろう」。

³⁴ They will mock him, spit on him, scourge him, and kill him. On the third day he will rise again.”

³⁵さて、ゼベダイの子のヤコブとヨハネとがイエスのもとにきて言った、「先生、わたしたちがお頼みすることは、なんでもかなえてくださるようにお願いします」。

³⁵James and John, the sons of Zebedee, came near to him, saying, “Teacher, we want you to do for us whatever we will ask.”

³⁶イエスは彼らに「何をしてほしいと、願うのか」と言われた。

³⁶He said to them, “What do you want me to do for you?”

³⁷すると彼らは言った、「栄光をお受けになるとき、ひとりをあなたの右に、ひとりを左にすわるようにしてください」。

³⁷They said to him, “Grant to us that we may sit, one at your right hand, and one at your left hand, in your glory.”

³⁸イエスは言われた、「あなたがたは自分が何を求めているのか、わかっていない。あなたがたは、わたしが飲む杯を飲み、わたしが受けるバプテスマを受けることができるか」。

³⁸But Jesus said to them, “You don’t know what you are asking. Are you able to drink the cup that I drink, and to be baptized with the baptism that I am baptized with?”

³⁹彼らは「できます」と答えた。するとイエスは言われた、「あなたがたは、わたしが飲む杯を飲み、わたしが受けるバプテスマを受けるであろう。

³⁹They said to him, “We are able.” Jesus said to them, “You shall indeed drink the cup that I drink, and you shall be baptized with the baptism that I am baptized with;

⁴⁰しかし、わたしの右、左にすわらせることは、わたしのすることではなく、ただ備えられている人々だけに許されることである」。

⁴⁰ but to sit at my right hand and at my left hand is not mine to give, but for whom it has been prepared.”

⁴¹十人の者はこれを聞いて、ヤコブとヨハネとのことで憤慨し出した。

⁴¹When the ten heard it, they began to be indignant towards James and John.

⁴²そこで、イエスは彼らを呼び寄せて言われた、「あなたがたの知っているとおり、異邦人の支配者と見られている人々は、その民を治め、また偉い人たちは、その民の上に権力をふるっている。

⁴²Jesus summoned them, and said to them, “You know that they who are recognized as rulers over the nations lord it over them, and their great ones exercise authority over them.

⁴³しかし、あなたがたの間では、そうであってはならない。かえって、あなたがたの間で偉くなりたいと思う者は、仕える人となり、

⁴³ But it shall not be so among you, but whoever wants to become great among you shall be your servant.

⁴⁴あなたがたの間でかしらになりたいと思う者は、すべての人の僕とならねばならない。

⁴⁴ Whoever of you wants to become first among you, shall be bondservant of all.

⁴⁵人の子がきたのも、仕えられるためではなく、仕えるためであり、また多くの人のあがないとして、自分の命を与えるためである」。

⁴⁵ For the Son of Man also came not to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.”

⁴⁶それから、彼らはエリコにきた。そして、イエスが弟子たちや大ぜいの群衆と共にエリコから出かけられたとき、テマイの子、バルテマイという盲人のこじきが、道ばたにすわっていた。

⁴⁶They came to Jericho. As he went out from Jericho, with his disciples and a great multitude, the son of Timaeus, Bartimaeus, a blind beggar, was sitting by the road.

⁴⁷ところが、ナザレのイエスだと聞いて、彼は「ダビデの子イエスよ、わたしをあわれんでください」と叫び出した。

⁴⁷When he heard that it was Jesus the Nazarene, he began to cry out, and say, “Jesus, you son of David, have mercy on me!”

⁴⁸多くの人々は彼をしかって黙らせようとしたが、彼はますます激しく叫びつづけた、「ダビデの子イエスよ、わたしをあわれんでください」。

⁴⁸Many rebuked him, that he should be quiet, but he cried out much more, “You son of David, have mercy on me!”

⁴⁹イエスは立ちどまって「彼を呼べ」と命じられた。そこで、人々はその盲人を呼んで言った、「喜べ、立て、おまえを呼んでおられる」。

⁴⁹Jesus stood still, and said, “Call him.” They called the blind man, saying to him, “Cheer up! Get up. He is calling you!”

⁵⁰そこで彼は上着を脱ぎ捨て、踊りあがってイエスのもとにきた。

⁵⁰He, casting away his cloak, sprang up, and came to Jesus.

⁵¹イエスは彼にむかって言われた、「わたしに何をしてほしいのか」。その盲人は言った、「先生、見えるようになることです」。そこでイエスは言われた、「行け、あなたの信仰があなたを救った」。すると彼は、たちまち見えるようになり、イエスに従って行った。

⁵¹Jesus asked him, “What do you want me to do for you?” The blind man said to him, “Rabboni, Rabboni is a transliteration of the Hebrew word for “great teacher.” that I may see again.”

⁵²そこでイエスは言われた、「行け、あなたの信仰があなたを救った」。すると彼は、たちまち見えるようになり、イエスに従って行った。

⁵²Jesus said to him, “Go your way. Your faith has made you well.” Immediately he received his sight, and followed Jesus in the way.
