¹イエスはまた、譬で彼らに語って言われた、

¹Jesus answered and spoke again in parables to them, saying,

²「天国は、ひとりの王がその王子のために、婚宴を催すようなものである。

² “The Kingdom of Heaven is like a certain king, who made a marriage feast for his son,

³王はその僕たちをつかわして、この婚宴に招かれていた人たちを呼ばせたが、その人たちはこようとはしなかった。

³ and sent out his servants to call those who were invited to the marriage feast, but they would not come.

⁴そこでまた、ほかの僕たちをつかわして言った、『招かれた人たちに言いなさい。食事の用意ができました。牛も肥えた獣もほふられて、すべての用意ができました。さあ、婚宴においでください』。

⁴ Again he sent out other servants, saying, ‘Tell those who are invited, “Behold, I have prepared my dinner. My cattle and my fatlings are killed, and all things are ready. Come to the marriage feast!”’

⁵しかし、彼らは知らぬ顔をして、ひとりは自分の畑に、ひとりは自分の商売に出て行き、

⁵ But they made light of it, and went their ways, one to his own farm, another to his merchandise,

⁶またほかの人々は、この僕たちをつかまえて侮辱を加えた上、殺してしまった。

⁶ and the rest grabbed his servants, and treated them shamefully, and killed them.

⁷そこで王は立腹し、軍隊を送ってそれらの人殺しどもを滅ぼし、その町を焼き払った。

⁷ When the king heard that, he was angry, and sent his armies, destroyed those murderers, and burned their city.

⁸それから僕たちに言った、『婚宴の用意はできているが、招かれていたのは、ふさわしくない人々であった。

⁸ “Then he said to his servants, ‘The wedding is ready, but those who were invited weren’t worthy.

⁹だから、町の大通りに出て行って、出会った人はだれでも婚宴に連れてきなさい』。

⁹ Go therefore to the intersections of the highways, and as many as you may find, invite to the marriage feast.’

¹⁰そこで、僕たちは道に出て行って、出会う人は、悪人でも善人でもみな集めてきたので、婚宴の席は客でいっぱいになった。

¹⁰ Those servants went out into the highways, and gathered together as many as they found, both bad and good. The wedding was filled with guests.

¹¹王は客を迎えようとしてはいってきたが、そこに礼服をつけていないひとりの人を見て、

¹¹ But when the king came in to see the guests, he saw there a man who didn’t have on wedding clothing,

¹²彼に言った、『友よ、どうしてあなたは礼服をつけないで、ここにはいってきたのですか』。しかし、彼は黙っていた。

¹² and he said to him, ‘Friend, how did you come in here not wearing wedding clothing?’ He was speechless.

¹³そこで、王はそばの者たちに言った、『この者の手足をしばって、外の暗やみにほうり出せ。そこで泣き叫んだり、歯がみをしたりするであろう』。

¹³ Then the king said to the servants, ‘Bind him hand and foot, take him away, and throw him into the outer darkness; there is where the weeping and grinding of teeth will be.’

¹⁴招かれる者は多いが、選ばれる者は少ない」。

¹⁴ For many are called, but few chosen.”

¹⁵そのときパリサイ人たちがきて、どうかしてイエスを言葉のわなにかけようと、相談をした。

¹⁵Then the Pharisees went and took counsel how they might entrap him in his talk.

¹⁶そして、彼らの弟子を、ヘロデ党の者たちと共に、イエスのもとにつかわして言わせた、「先生、わたしたちはあなたが真実なかたであって、真理に基いて神の道を教え、また、人に分け隔てをしないで、だれをもはばかられないことを知っています。

¹⁶They sent their disciples to him, along with the Herodians, saying, “Teacher, we know that you are honest, and teach the way of God in truth, no matter whom you teach, for you aren’t partial to anyone.

¹⁷それで、あなたはどう思われますか、答えてください。カイザルに税金を納めてよいでしょうか、いけないでしょうか」。

¹⁷Tell us therefore, what do you think? Is it lawful to pay taxes to Caesar, or not?”

¹⁸イエスは彼らの悪意を知って言われた、「偽善者たちよ、なぜわたしをためそうとするのか。

¹⁸But Jesus perceived their wickedness, and said, “Why do you test me, you hypocrites?

¹⁹税に納める貨幣を見せなさい」。彼らはデナリ一つを持ってきた。

¹⁹ Show me the tax money.” They brought to him a denarius.

²⁰そこでイエスは言われた、「これは、だれの肖像、だれの記号か」。

²⁰He asked them, “Whose is this image and inscription?”

²¹彼らは「カイザルのです」と答えた。するとイエスは言われた、「それでは、カイザルのものはカイザルに、神のものは神に返しなさい」。

²¹They said to him, “Caesar’s.” Then he said to them, “Give therefore to Caesar the things that are Caesar’s, and to God the things that are God’s.”

²²彼らはこれを聞いて驚嘆し、イエスを残して立ち去った。

²²When they heard it, they marveled, and left him, and went away.

²³復活ということはないと主張していたサドカイ人たちが、その日、イエスのもとにきて質問した、

²³On that day Sadducees (those who say that there is no resurrection) came to him. They asked him,

²⁴「先生、モーセはこう言っています、『もし、ある人が子がなくて死んだなら、その弟は兄の妻をめとって、兄のために子をもうけねばならない』。

²⁴saying, “Teacher, Moses said, ‘If a man dies, having no children, his brother shall marry his wife, and raise up seed for his brother.’

²⁵さて、わたしたちのところに七人の兄弟がありました。長男は妻をめとったが死んでしまい、そして子がなかったので、その妻を弟に残しました。

²⁵Now there were with us seven brothers. The first married and died, and having no seed left his wife to his brother.

²⁶次男も三男も、ついに七人とも同じことになりました。

²⁶In the same way, the second also, and the third, to the seventh.

²⁷最後に、その女も死にました。

²⁷After them all, the woman died.

²⁸すると復活の時には、この女は、七人のうちだれの妻なのでしょうか。みんながこの女を妻にしたのですが」。

²⁸In the resurrection therefore, whose wife will she be of the seven? For they all had her.”

²⁹イエスは答えて言われた、「あなたがたは聖書も神の力も知らないから、思い違いをしている。

²⁹But Jesus answered them, “You are mistaken, not knowing the Scriptures, nor the power of God.

³⁰復活の時には、彼らはめとったり、とついだりすることはない。彼らは天にいる御使のようなものである。

³⁰ For in the resurrection they neither marry, nor are given in marriage, but are like God’s angels in heaven.

³¹また、死人の復活については、神があなたがたに言われた言葉を読んだことがないのか。

³¹ But concerning the resurrection of the dead, haven’t you read that which was spoken to you by God, saying,

³²『わたしはアブラハムの神、イサクの神、ヤコブの神である』と書いてある。神は死んだ者の神ではなく、生きている者の神である」。

³² ‘I am the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob?’ Exodus 3:6 God is not the God of the dead, but of the living.”

³³群衆はこれを聞いて、イエスの教に驚いた。

³³When the multitudes heard it, they were astonished at his teaching.

³⁴さて、パリサイ人たちは、イエスがサドカイ人たちを言いこめられたと聞いて、一緒に集まった。

³⁴But the Pharisees, when they heard that he had silenced the Sadducees, gathered themselves together.

³⁵そして彼らの中のひとりの律法学者が、イエスをためそうとして質問した、

³⁵One of them, a lawyer, asked him a question, testing him.

³⁶「先生、律法の中で、どのいましめがいちばん大切なのですか」。

³⁶“Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the law?”

³⁷イエスは言われた、「『心をつくし、精神をつくし、思いをつくして、主なるあなたの神を愛せよ』。

³⁷Jesus said to him, “‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.’ Deuteronomy 6:5

³⁸これがいちばん大切な、第一のいましめである。

³⁸ This is the first and great commandment.

³⁹第二もこれと同様である、『自分を愛するようにあなたの隣り人を愛せよ』。

³⁹ A second likewise is this, ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ Leviticus 19:18

⁴⁰これらの二つのいましめに、律法全体と預言者とが、かかっている」。

⁴⁰ The whole law and the prophets depend on these two commandments.”

⁴¹パリサイ人たちが集まっていたとき、イエスは彼らにお尋ねになった、

⁴¹Now while the Pharisees were gathered together, Jesus asked them a question,

⁴²「あなたがたはキリストをどう思うか。だれの子なのか」。彼らは「ダビデの子です」と答えた。

⁴²saying, “What do you think of the Christ? Whose son is he?” They said to him, “Of David.”

⁴³イエスは言われた、「それではどうして、ダビデが御霊に感じてキリストを主と呼んでいるのか。

⁴³He said to them, “How then does David in the Spirit call him Lord, saying,

⁴⁴すなわち『主はわが主に仰せになった、あなたの敵をあなたの足もとに置くときまでは、わたしの右に座していなさい』。

⁴⁴ ‘The Lord said to my Lord, sit on my right hand, until I make your enemies a footstool for your feet?’ Psalm 110:1

⁴⁵このように、ダビデ自身がキリストを主と呼んでいるなら、キリストはどうしてダビデの子であろうか」。イエスにひと言でも答えうる者は、なかったし、その日からもはや、進んでイエスに質問する者も、いなくなった。

⁴⁵ “If then David calls him Lord, how is he his son?”

⁴⁶イエスにひと言でも答えうる者は、なかったし、その日からもはや、進んでイエスに質問する者も、いなくなった。

⁴⁶No one was able to answer him a word, neither did any man dare ask him any more questions from that day forth.
