1Liman ɣer Ṛebbi, d lețkal nesɛa belli a ɣ-d-yaweḍ wayen i nețṛaǧu, ɣas ur t-nwala ara s wallen-nneɣ neẓra ț-țideț yella.
1Now faith is [the] substantiating of things hoped for, [the] conviction of things not seen.
2Si zik wid i gɛeǧben i Sidi Ṛebbi, d wid yesɛan liman deg-s.
2For in [the power of] this the elders have obtained testimony.
3S liman i nefhem belli ddunit tețwaxleq s wawal n Ṛebbi ; ihi ayen nețwali yekka-d seg wayen ur nețwali ara.
3By faith we apprehend that the worlds were framed by [the] word of God, so that that which is seen should not take its origin from things which appear.
4S liman i gqeddem Habil asfel i Sidi Ṛebbi axiṛ n wesfel n gma-s Kahin, ɣef ddemma n liman-ines Sidi Ṛebbi yeqbel asfel-ines yerna iḥseb-it d aḥeqqi ; daymi ɣas yemmut yeqqim-ed d lemtel ɣef liman.
4By faith Abel offered to God a more excellent sacrifice than Cain, by which he obtained testimony of being righteous, God bearing testimony to his gifts, and by it, having died, he yet speaks.
5S liman, Hanux yețwarfed ɣer igenni mbla ma tɛedda fell-as lmut, iɣab ɣef wallen, ur d-iban ara axaṭer irfed-it Sidi Ṛebbi ɣuṛ-es. Uqbel ad yețwarfed yeẓra belli yeɛǧeb i Sidi Ṛebbi.
5By faith Enoch was translated that he should not see death; and was not found, because God had translated him; for before [his] translation he has the testimony that he had pleased God.
6Ihi, mbla liman d lmuḥal ad yeɛǧeb yiwen i Ṛebbi, axaṭer win ara iqeṛṛben ɣuṛ-es ilaq ad yamen belli yella yerna iqebbel-ed wid yețnadin fell-as.
6But without faith [it is] impossible to please [him]. For he that draws near to God must believe that he is, and [that] he is a rewarder of them who seek him out.
7S liman, i gumen nnbi Nuḥ ayen i s-d-iweḥḥa Sidi Ṛebbi ɣef wayen ara yedṛun, ɣas akken mazal ur iwala acemma s wallen-is, yebna lbabuṛ iwakken ad isellek at wexxam-is. S wakka i gḥuseb at ddunit imi yuɣ awal i Sidi Ṛebbi, yuɣal d aḥeqqi ɣuṛ-es ɣef ddemma n liman yesɛa.
7By faith, Noah, oracularly warned concerning things not yet seen, moved with fear, prepared an ark for the saving of his house; by which he condemned the world, and became heir of the righteousness which [is] according to faith.
8S liman i guɣ Ibṛahim awal i Sidi Ṛebbi mi s-d-yessawel ad iṛuḥ ɣer yiwet n tmurt ara s-yefk d lweṛt ; iṛuḥ ɣas akken ur yeẓri ara ɣer wanda ițeddu.
8By faith Abraham, being called, obeyed to go out into the place which he was to receive for an inheritance, and went out, not knowing where he was going.
9S liman daɣen i gɛac am ubeṛṛani di tmurt i s-yewɛed Sidi Ṛebbi, yezdeɣ deg iqiḍunen am nețța am warraw-is Isḥaq akk-d Yeɛqub iweṛten yid-es ayen akken i s-yewɛed Sidi Ṛebbi.
9By faith he sojourned as a stranger in the land of promise as a foreign country, having dwelt in tents with Isaac and Jacob, the heirs with [him] of the same promise;
10Yețṛaǧu tamdint ibedden ɣef lsas iǧehden, tin akken yebna Sidi Ṛebbi s yiman-is.
10for he waited for the city which has foundations, of which God is [the] artificer and constructor.
11S liman, ?ara tesɛa-d dderya ɣas akken ț-țiɛiqeṛt yerna meqqeṛt di leɛmeṛ, tumen belli win i s-yefkan lɛahed, ad iṭṭef deg wawal-is.
11By faith also Sarah herself received strength for [the] conception of seed, and [that] beyond a seasonable age; since she counted him faithful who promised.
12Daymi seg yiwen wergaz iwumi kkawen ifadden teffeɣ-ed dderya s waṭas dderya n dderya-k ad ilin am yitran n igenni, am ṛṛmel yellan ɣef rrif n lebḥeṛ, ur yezmir yiwen a ten yeḥseb.
12Wherefore also there have been born of one, and that of one become dead, even as the stars of heaven in multitude, and as the countless sand which [is] by the sea shore.
13Di liman, i mmuten akk yemdanen-agi uqbel a ten-id-yaweḍ wayen i sen-yewɛed Sidi Ṛebbi, lameɛna walan-t si lebɛid feṛḥen yis yerna setɛeṛfen belli d ibeṛṛaniyen, d imsebriden di ddunit.
13All these died in faith, not having received the promises, but having seen them from afar off and embraced [them], and confessed that they were strangers and sojourners on the earth.
14Wid iheddṛen akka, iban țnadin tamurt i yiman-nsen.
14For they who say such things shew clearly that they seek [their] country.
15Lemmer ndemmen imi ǧǧan tamurt-nsen tili uɣalen ɣuṛ-es,
15And if they had called to mind that from whence they went out, they had had opportunity to have returned;
16meɛna nutni țqelliben ɣef tmurt ifazen yeɛni tin n igenwan, daymi Sidi Ṛebbi ur issetḥa ara ad ițțusemmi d Illu-nsen axaṭer ihegga yasen tamurt.
16but now they seek a better, that is, a heavenly; wherefore God is not ashamed of them, to be called their God; for he has prepared for them a city.
17S liman i gefka Ibṛahim mmi-s Isḥaq d asfel mi i t-ijeṛṛeb Sidi Ṛebbi, nețța iwumi d-țunefkent lemɛahdat, yeqbel ad yefk mmi-s awḥid d asfel,
17By faith Abraham, [when] tried, offered up Isaac, and he who had received to himself the promises offered up his only begotten [son],
18nețța iwumi i d-yenna Sidi Ṛebbi : Seg Isḥaq ara k-d-fkeɣ dderya ara irefden isem-ik.
18as to whom it had been said, In Isaac shall thy seed be called:
19Yețkel ɣef Ṛebbi bab n tezmert belli yezmer a d-isseḥyu ula si ger lmegtin daymi i s-d-yerra mmi-s : ayagi yella-d d lemtel.
19counting that God [was] able to raise [him] even from among [the] dead, whence also he received him in a figure.
20S liman, Isḥaq iburek arraw-is Yeɛqub akk-d Icaɛu ɣef ddemma n wayen i d-iteddun.
20By faith Isaac blessed Jacob and Esau concerning things to come.
21S liman daɣen i gburek Yeɛqub arraw n Yusef uqbel ad yemmet, s liman i gsenned ɣef wuɛekkaz iwakken ad iɛbed Ṛebbi.
21By faith Jacob [when] dying blessed each of the sons of Joseph, and worshipped on the top of his staff.
22S liman i gcar Sidna Yusef uqbel ad immet ɣef tuffɣa n wat Isṛail si tmurt n Maṣer, i gweṣṣa ad awin iɣsan-is yid-sen.
22By faith Joseph [when] dying called to mind the going forth of the sons of Israel, and gave commandment concerning his bones.
23S liman, imawlan n Sidna Musa ffren-t tlata n wagguren mi d-ilul axaṭer walan aqcic yecbeḥ dɣa ur uggaden ara lameṛ n ugellid.
23By faith Moses, being born, was hid three months by his parents, because they saw the child beautiful; and they did not fear the injunction of the king.
24S liman, mi meqqeṛ Sidna Musa ur yeqbil ara ad ițțusemmi d mmi-s n yelli-s n Ferɛun,
24By faith Moses, when he had become great, refused to be called son of Pharaoh's daughter;
25yextaṛ ad yeɛteb d wegdud n Ṛebbi wala ad iqqim di zzhu n ddunit-agi yețțawin ɣer ddnub.
25choosing rather to suffer affliction along with the people of God than to have [the] temporary pleasure of sin;
26Yefhem belli leɛtab n Lmasiḥ, d sɛaya tameqqrant yugaren igerrujen n tmurt n Maṣer axaṭer iwala ɣer zdat lerbaḥ i t-yețṛaǧun.
26esteeming the reproach of the Christ greater riches than the treasures of Egypt, for he had respect to the recompense.
27S liman i d-iffeɣ si tmurt n Maṣer ur yuggad ara agellid iweɛṛen, yeṭṭef di liman am win iwalan win akken ur yețwali yiwen.
27By faith he left Egypt, not fearing the wrath of the king; for he persevered, as seeing him who is invisible.
28S liman i gefka lameṛ ad zlun izimer n leslak, i gṛucc tiwwura s idammen n izimer-nni iwakken m'ara d-iɛeddi win yessengaren ur yețnal ara imenza i d-ilulen ɣer wat Isṛail.
28By faith he celebrated the passover and the sprinkling of the blood, that the destroyer of the firstborn might not touch them.
29S liman, agdud n Isṛail yezger ɣef wuḍar i lebḥeṛ azeggaɣ, ma d imaṣriyen mi ɛeṛden ad zegren am nutni, yečča-ten.
29By faith they passed through the Red sea as through dry land; of which the Egyptians having made trial were swallowed up.
30S liman i ɣlin leswaṛ n temdint n Yeriku mi i s-yezzi wegdud n Isṛail sebɛa wussan.
30By faith the walls of Jericho fell, having been encircled for seven days.
31S liman, Ṛaḥab yellan d yir tameṭṭut ur temmut ara akk-d wid ur numin ara s Ṛebbi axaṭer testeṛḥeb akken ilaq s wid i d-yusan ad ssiwḍen lexbaṛ i wat Isṛail a sen-awin lexbaṛ.
31By faith Rahab the harlot did not perish along with the unbelieving, having received the spies in peace.
32D acu ara d-iniɣ daɣen ? Aṭas n lweqt i glaqen iwakken a d-hedṛeɣ ɣef Gidɛun, ɣef Baraq, ɣef Samsun, ɣef Jifti, ɣef Sidna Dawed, ɣef Camwil neɣ ɣef lenbiya meṛṛa.
32And what more do I say? For the time would fail me telling of Gideon, and Barak, and Samson, and Jephthah, and David and Samuel, and of the prophets:
33Wid i grebḥen deg umenɣi tigeldiwin nniḍen s liman, xedmen anagar lḥeqq, țțunefkent-asen-d lemɛahdat, zemmemen imawen n yizmawen,
33who by faith overcame kingdoms, wrought righteousness, obtained promises, stopped lions' mouths,
34ɣelben tazmert n tmes, menɛen i ujenwi qeṭṭiɛen, ḥlan si lehlakat-nsen, zewṛen deg umenɣi, lɛeskeṛ n tmura nniḍen rewlen zdat-sen.
34quenched [the] power of fire, escaped [the] edge of the sword, became strong out of weakness, became mighty in war, made [the] armies of strangers give way.
35Kra n tilawin walant wid i sent-yemmuten uɣalen-d si ger lmegtin, wiyaḍ țwaqehṛen meɛna ur qbilen ara ṛṛeḥma n yemdanen iwakken ad sɛun ḥeggu n tideț.
35Women received their dead again by resurrection; and others were tortured, not having accepted deliverance, that they might get a better resurrection;
36Wiyaḍ daɣen țwaqehṛen s ustehzi, s ujelkkaḍ, s snasel d leḥbus.
36and others underwent trial of mockings and scourgings, yea, and of bonds and imprisonment.
37?waṛejmen, țwajeṛben, țwagezmen s umencaṛ, mmuten s ujenwi, teddun sya ɣer da, llebsa nsen d ibḍanen n wulli ț-țɣeṭṭen, yețwakkes-asen kullec, țwaḥeqṛen, țwaqehṛen.
37They were stoned, were sawn asunder, were tempted, died by the death of the sword; they went about in sheepskins, in goatskins, destitute, afflicted, evil treated,
38Nutni ur tuklal ara ddunit, țmenṭaren deg unezṛuf, deg idurar, deg ifran d mkul amkan n ddunit.
38(of whom the world was not worthy,) wandering in deserts and mountains, and [in] dens and caverns of the earth.
39Widak-agi meṛṛa yețwaqeblen ɣer Ṛebbi s liman-nsen urɛad i ten-id yewweḍ wayen i sen-yewɛed,
39And these all, having obtained witness through faith, did not receive the promise,
40Axaṭer Sidi Ṛebbi ihegga-yaɣ ayen yifen ayen akken i sen-yewɛed i nutni, iwakken ur țțawḍen ara ɣer wayen akken ikemlen mbla ma nțekka yid-sen.
40God having foreseen some better thing for us, that they should not be made perfect without us.
